East meets West this Sunday, February 18, 2007 as The Bus celebrates the first day of the Chinese Year of the Pig with a day trip to the Far Eastern Western town of Locke and the Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento.
Meet at Bus Headquarters, 3359 Cesar Chavez at 9:00 a.m. SHARP! We have room for 40 people. Come early.
9:00 a.m. - Noon (with one stop) - We'll lunch in LOCKE and visit Connie King's Toilet Bowl Garden. It's open all day and we will be the main event.
"Locke was founded in 1915 after a fire broke out in the Chinese section of nearby Walnut Grove. The Chinese who lived in that area decided that it was time to establish a town of their own."

2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. - Drive on a scenic highway along the
Sacramento River to OLD SACRAMENTO and visit the Railroad Museum. Old Sacramento is a town in the style of old.

3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. - California State RAILROAD MUSEUM
We have railroad tracks thanks to the indentured servitude of the first Chinese-Americans.
