KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) — A Klamath Falls man who had sexual contact with two 14-year-old girls he met online was sentenced to four years in prison.
Joseph Polk, 36, pleaded guilty Friday to sodomy and attempting to use a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct. Polk was scheduled to go to trial later this month on multiple charges stemming from his contact with the two girls. But under an agreement with prosecutors, nine charges were dismissed in exchange for the guilty plea, said Deputy District Attorney Sharon Forster.
The authorities said Polk posed as a teen boy on the online chatting sites MySpace.com and Tagged.com. He befriended the girls and arranged to meet them in person.
He set up several accounts on the sites. On one he used the name Boomalicious and described himself as a 15-year-old football player.
When the girls met him, they noticed he was older, but still had consensual relations with him, authorities said.
Oregon State Police investigators arrested Polk in January after one of the girls disclosed to a counselor that she had performed oral sex on the 36-year-old.
Polk posted bail after that arrest and was released from the Klamath County Jail. But he was arrested again in March after investigators discovered he had sexual relations with another girl.
Polk met the girl at a cemetery last fall. Prosecutors said Polk lifted the girl's shirt and inappropriately touched her with a Tootsie Roll pop before putting the candy in his mouth.
After prison, Polk will have five years post-prison supervision and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
