I've never met Kevin, in fact, never really talked to him either. That has not changed the fact that he has changed my life completely! Let's start with the fact that now I know if I just believe enough, I'll be able to fly. He's working really hard helping me with my confidence so that I can do just that. Another thing, he doesn't care if I go out in public with no make-up on and wearing my pjs. Nope, doesn't care one bit - he just throws stuff at me and tells me to keep away. In fact, I've been on my death bed for days, and he's the type of friend who doesn't coddle me and wish me better. No, he wants me to tough it out and fight on my own. Yep. He's the best friend I've ever had.

I once saw Kevin running naked behind a water truck at Burning Man. Now he's a regular part of my life. I don't know that those two facts have anything to do with each other necessarily, but there it is.

I dig Kevin in a big way, even though I sometimes wonder if I piss him off. It's only because he's such a great taker of shit. There are few who can take it as well as they dish it (and sometimes even better than...)

The first time I met Kevin it was through work. The 2nd time was through a friend's girlfriend's friend. The 3rd time was through an entirely different set of friends. After the third time chance had put us in the same room, I figured this was one friend I didn't have any choice but to take. Time has proven that fate was on my side with this one. As Kevin is a very cool and honorable friend. He is someone I know I can trust no matter what. And friends like that are the ones you need to keep. Plus he's fun. And while most people think they are fun, few actually are.

I'm glad to count Kevin among my friends. He's a genuinely nice guy, by which I mean he really cares about his fellow human beings. He listens to what people have to say, to understand them. If there's an argument, he'll often try to help smooth things over. And even though he's freakishly tall, it's not like he can help that. He's got a heart to match.

Kevin will help get the party started, and then you better believe he'll be sticking around for the after-party too. *Most Hardcore*

Cashing It In

So during some gift giving season a long time ago, I was given one of those gift cards for Borders.
And I sat on it. I put the card away.
Totally forgot about until yesterday.

I wanted to find something to do and wanted to practice some retail therapy, so I picked it up and went shopping.

Here's what I picked up:

Let the Galaxy Burn - A collection of short stories written in the Warhammer 40k universe.
Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson - A sci-fi classic.
World War Z - Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks - A horror book.
The Thinking Fan's Guide to the World Cup - Pieces by authors from the 32 nations who qualified for the 2006 World Cup.
And finally, America The Book by Jon Stewart & The Daily Show (purchased from the bargain area for $5 Woo Hoo!).

I look forward to reading books again.
