Tango nuevo tomorrow in SF anyone?

Yeah...I know, who knew?

Well it turns out that my cousin, the ultra cool bohemian musician that she is, is in a band which plays tango nuevo music. Her group is playing at a place in SF tomorrow evening at 6pm (Cafe Royale - 800 Post St. @ Leavenworth) and I was gonna head on down to check it out. It's free and I was a'wondering if any of you hipsters out there wanna join me for an adult beverage or four and some sweet sweet tango music.

(for information purposes)

With its unique instrumentation of violin, trombone, piano, and accordion/bandoneon, Tango No. 9 embraces both a reverence to tango’s seductive past and an innovative vision of the music’s storied future.

So during some gift giving season a long time ago, I was given one of those gift cards for Borders.
And I sat on it. I put the card away.
Totally forgot about until yesterday.

I wanted to find something to do and wanted to practice some retail therapy, so I picked it up and went shopping.

Here's what I picked up:

Let the Galaxy Burn - A collection of short stories written in the Warhammer 40k universe.
Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson - A sci-fi classic.
World War Z - Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks - A horror book.
The Thinking Fan's Guide to the World Cup - Pieces by authors from the 32 nations who qualified for the 2006 World Cup.
And finally, America The Book by Jon Stewart & The Daily Show (purchased from the bargain area for $5 Woo Hoo!).

I look forward to reading books again.

Now, the only question I have is how many restaurants can I go to so that I can get a free taco?
If I go on down the street to another TBell, how are they gonna know I already claimed my taco?

My friend DJ E-Light is playing the Lovefest in San Francisco this weekend. I kinda sorta helped out a little in preparing the float he is playing on so I will hanging around the Civic Center all day. If you see the drum & bass float with the mountaintop as the dj booth, I should be pretty close by somewhere. Come on up and say "Hi!" It's always great to run into you Tribe people out & about in the real world rather than the virtual sandboxes we sometimes share on the tubes of the interwebs. Plus I lurves to take me some pictures.

You're a Human!
With extreme power comes extreme destructiveness, and you've had plenty of both to share with your peers. While you're capable of a great deal of beauty and joy, your skill in creating misery seems almost boundless at times. You've made a big fuss about how you're smarter than everyone else, but all they can see is how you've used those smarts for ill. At this point, your best hope is to turn to those around you and start caring about them. It would also be advisable to get rid of some of your stuff, and preferably not by throwing it away.

It's time to play Family Reunion games!

Somehow, though I don't really want to admit it, I am looking forward to a family reunion in the Seattle/Tacoma Washington area this weekend. I'll be in a car all the way up The 5 with moms, sis & her hubby. Then we'll be staying at the cousins. Soon after there's reunion type stuff.

I was supposed to be in Los Angeles this weekend to see the nephews & attend a soccer match between the LA Galaxy and Chivas de Guadalajara in the newly begun SuperLiga competition. It woulda been my first chance to see David Beckham live in person (schedule to play {I believe}) and I am truly sorry I'll miss that.

On the other hand, I can go later this summer to a game and the last family reunion was sometime in the late 90s, so...priorities and stuff.

Anyways, off I go to Tacoma, Washington and another round of obscure family fun. Wish me luck.

David Beckham is in America.

Tonight, he should play maybe 5-10 minutes at the end of a friendly (which is a soccer term for an exhibition game).

Maybe, it depends on his ankle.

Anyways, 5:30pm on ESPN is the LA Galaxy vs Chelsea FC.

Tune in or don't be totally hip, it's your choice.

The future of Internet radio is in immediate danger. Royalty rates for webcasters have been drastically increased by a recent ruling and are due to go into effect on July 15 (retroactive to Jan 1, 2006!). If the increased rates remain unchanged, the majority of webcasters will go bankrupt and silent on this date. Internet radio needs your help! The Internet Radio Equality Act has recently been introduced in both the House (H.R. 2060) and Senate (S. 1353) to save the Internet radio industry. Please call your senators and your representative to ask them to co-sponsor the Internet Radio Equality Act by clicking below.

Please please please check this out if you have any interest in keeping the internet music & radio frontier as wild as possible. These new regulations essentially muzzle music in a dangerous way. They are nothing but a further example of greed from the music industry attempting to crush the internet's musical creativity.

After the feast (more or less) came the Speech. Most of the assembled hobbits were now in a tolerant mood - at that deliecious stage which they called filling up the 'corners' (with sips of their favourite drinks and nips of their favourite sweetmeats): their former fears were forgotten. They were prepared to listen to anything, and to cheer at every full stop.

You are the Devil.

Materiality. Material Force. Material temptation; sometimes obsession

The Devil is often a great card for business success; hard work and ambition.

Perhaps the most misunderstood of all the major arcana, the Devil is not really "Satan" at all, but Pan the half-goat nature god and/or Dionysius. These are gods of pleasure and abandon, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This is a card about ambitions; it is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate or messy or wild - or ambitious. This, too, is a form of enslavement. As a person, the Devil can stand for a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling, or just persuasive. This is not to say a bad man, but certainly a powerful man who is hard to resist. The important thing is to remember that any chain is freely worn. In most cases, you are enslaved only because you allow it.
