Tango nuevo tomorrow in SF anyone?

Yeah...I know, who knew? Well it turns out that my cousin, the ultra cool bohemian musician that she is, is in a band which plays tango nuevo music. Her group is playing at a place in SF tomorrow evening at 6pm (Cafe Royale - 800 Post St. @ Leavenworth) and I was gonna head on down to check it out. It's free and I was a'wondering if any of you hipsters out there wanna join me for an adult beverage or four and some sweet sweet tango music. Cashing It In

So during some gift giving season a long time ago, I was given one of those gift cards for Borders. And I sat on it. I put the card away. Totally forgot about until yesterday. I wanted to find something to do and wanted to practice some retail therapy, so I picked it up and went shopping. Here's what I picked up: Let the Galaxy Burn - A collection of short stories written in the Warhammer 40k universe. Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson - A sci-fi classic. World War Z - Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks - A horror book. The Thinking Fan's Guide to the World Cup - Pieces by authors from the 32 nations who qualified for the 2006 World Cup. And finally, America The Book by Jon Stewart & The Daily Show (purchased from the bargain area for $5 Woo Hoo!). I look forward to reading books again.

At least this years' World Series sweep by the Red Sox will do something for me, and that is get me a free taco today. That's right people, one free taco today for America between 2pm & 5pm. Now, the only question I have is how many restaurants can I go to so that I can get a free taco? If I go on down the street to another TBell, how are they gonna know I already claimed my taco? My friend DJ E-Light is playing the Lovefest in San Francisco this weekend. I kinda sorta helped out a little in preparing the float he is playing on so I will hanging around the Civic Center all day. If you see the drum & bass float with the mountaintop as the dj booth, I should be pretty close by somewhere. Come on up and say "Hi!" It's always great to run into you Tribe people out & about in the real world rather than the virtual sandboxes we sometimes share on the tubes of the interwebs. Plus I lurves to take me some pictures.

Somehow, though I don't really want to admit it, I am looking forward to a family reunion in the Seattle/Tacoma Washington area this weekend. I'll be in a car all the way up The 5 with moms, sis & her hubby. Then we'll be staying at the cousins. Soon after there's reunion type stuff. I was supposed to be in Los Angeles this weekend to see the nephews & attend a soccer match between the LA Galaxy and Chivas de Guadalajara in the newly begun SuperLiga competition. It woulda been my first chance to see David Beckham live in person (schedule to play {I believe}) and I am truly sorry I'll miss that. On the other hand, I can go later this summer to a game and the last family reunion was sometime in the late 90s, so...priorities and stuff. Anyways, off I go to Tacoma, Washington and another round of obscure family fun. Wish me luck.

1) A cellular phone does not give anyone anytime access to it's owner, especially if we're talking about mine. 2) Sometimes, people will do things and not include you. It happens all the time and means nothing except when people overreact to it. 3) 4:20 is numerologically significant. 4) Musicians, and many people who conversate regularly with others, seem to forget to take into account that whatever they know, or are capable of being an expert at, is not necessarily what the rest of the room has any interest in listening to. 5) Receiving a compliment feels great, especially when it refers to an artform. 6) Going to a place with other human beings to experience something as a group is always better than staying at home to experience a smaller version of the same thing. 7) Our destiny as a species lies in the stars or in our own Earthly made grave. 8) No matter how much you've seen, read or know, it's is so insignificant compared to the amount of information out there waiting to be learned. 9) I like to blog when I come home after an eventfull evening out & especially when still under the influence. 10) Making lists is a fantastic tool to trick yourself into feeling you have accomplished something.
