about me
Inanna teaches dance from her home studio and is troupe director of Banat el Shamal.

They say you never stop learning, and this is especially true in dance. Inanna has attended workshops with
Washington, D.C.-based Egyptian teacher Faten Salamah ... with Shareen El Safy, who has danced in the nightclubs of Cairo ... with tribal dance legend John Compton ... with top up-and-coming American belly dance instructor Jim Boz ... and many others. She also has been privileged to attend a teacher training workshop with Mahmoud Reda, founder of the national folkloric dance troupe of Egypt.

Inanna takes class regularly with leading local instructor Siham Ali and dances in her troupe.

Known in large part for her choreographic skills, Inanna's choreography has appeared at the Cleveland Performance Art Festival,
at the Lawrence (Kansas) Arts Center and in the City in Motion New Dance series, as well as in belly dance workshop shows
throughout the Midwest.

A writer as well as a dancer, Inanna once worked as a freelance dance critic for The Kansas City Star newspaper.

She has been dancing for more than two decades.

Choreographer and dancer Pina Bausch died today of cancer at the age of 68. Her roots were in pre-war German Expressionism, and she was known for combining unusual theatrics and sets with dreamlike ... even absurd ... movement. And she has been a great influence on younger artists. Watch some of the images of dancers swimming through water onstage, and I defy you not to think of Cirque du Soleil's production "O."

If you are interested in finding out more about her, there is an article in t... read more

My Testimonials

April 13, 2008
Kansas City is blessed to have such a warm and generous dancer.
January 22, 2006
Inanna is a great dancer. You never know what she is going to do next. She is knowledgable about dance and it's many aspects and isn't afraid to experiment and try new things. She is always a pleasure to watch and sometimes humerous as well. Layla
