How come when people try to change the world, they use old, tried and failed methods from many years before? Learn from the mistakes of others, people! Lets use the latest ideas and technology, not anachronisms that allow people to label and diminish you.

Woke up this morning with an urge to get my hands dirty. I've been working a half dozen compost piles for a couple months now, and a few of them are ready. Every morning for the past week I've been sifting off a wheelbarrow full of compost for my mom and Bianca to spread in the garden or start some new seedlings. I've also been experimenting with different mulching strategies, from chopping and dropping to lasagna mulching.

Never let a scared person accuse you of being too idealistic or "irresponsible", as if politely burying the planet in garbage isn't.

Last night I made a fig and rhubarb compote, almost a mock strawberry flavor. Quite delicious, wouldn't take too much of a stretch to say its sacred. Today we found some volunteer sunberries growing amidst our lamb's quarter forest, the black nightshade fruits are a favorite of the birds around here. As lamb's quarters are dynamic accumulators we'll be mulching on site, our soil will be rich for the living medicine wheel and amaranth border. We also took down the overgrowth on a tangled ...

Nick & I have shared some pretty amazing experiences... But any experience with Nick is and will be amazing. Nick's infectiously positively energized. His focused mind and huge heart work together to make infinitely better the situations of so many of the people hit by natural disasters, to help people see the possibilities... pretty much to inspire anyone who bumps into him.
Nick DOES. He LIVES IT. And, he got me back into firespinning. Chan chorb gik. April 21, 2007
Nick is one crazy staff spinnin', hippidy hop listenin', jive talkin', mo' fo'.
Nick feels fresh and inspiring. He makes you want to push yourself in ways you normally wouldn't, think about things you wouldn't necessarily always ponder ... and you believe that these thoughts and actions are fruitful because you can see that next level a little more clearly. Nick is a wonderful contradiction. He clearly has a wandering soul, but he feels soild and consistent as well. Like no matter how far he travels, you know you have a true friend somewhere out there. Nick's one of the few people I know who plays as hard as he works and doesn't seem frazzled by it, and can always put a smile on your face when you are. All in all, Nick's someone who's hard not to adore, so if you don't know him, you should. He's ain't so bad on the eyes either ;-) March 19, 2007
nick always brings a smile to my face when he is around...
