Mystery receptor's binding partner uncovered

The hallucinogen N,N-dimethyltryptamine, the active ingredient of mind-bending snuffs and sacramental teas used in shamanic rituals in South America and which also occurs naturally in the body, has been unmasked as the binding partner for a widely occurring receptor molecule whose function remains unknown.

For decades scientists have puzzled over the role of the sigma-1 receptor, a protein found in almost all mammalian cells, including the nervous system. A key question that remained elusive was the identity of natural ligands for the protein.

Now a team led by Arnold Ruoho of the University of Wisconsin in the US has provided compelling evidence that dimethyltryptamine, or DMT, is one of sigma-1's ligands.

Sigma-1 was known to bind a range of molecules with a common chemical backbone. Ruoho and his team searched for naturally occurring compounds with the key structure. They alighted upon DMT, which has been found in human blood, urine and cerebrospinal fluid, but whose function in the body is not known.

The team showed that in the test tube DMT was able to displace molecules that are known to bind with high affinity to sigma-1. They then compared the effect of DMT on heart muscle cells from mice that possessed sigma-1 with those genetically engineered not to produce the receptor - so-called sigma-1 receptor knock-out mice. Here, the activity of an ion channel was inhibited where sigma-1 was present, but unaffected in its absence. Ion channels are important in cell signalling processes, and the result suggest not only that DMT is interacting with sigma-1, but also that sigma-1 might be an ion-channel regulator.

Finally the team gave DMT to mice with and without the receptor. 'We showed that DMT increased the activity of wild-type mice, but in the knock-out mice there was no response,' says Ruoho.

Intriguingly both sigma-1 receptors and endogenously occurring DMT have been implicated in diseases such as schizophrenia. The new results open the way, says Ruoho, to search for synthetic compounds based on DMT that bind more powerfully to the receptor and observe their effects.

'This is a very important finding and will lead to more interest in the role of DMT and the sigma-1 receptor in mental illness,' says James Stone of the Institute of Psychiatry in London. 'People did not know what the natural ligand of sigma-1 was, and this has led to a lot of blind alleys. So this is really big news.'

Radiochemist Erik Arstad, of University College London, who has worked on sigma-1 receptors, agrees that the finding is significant. 'Given the potent hallucinogenic effects of DMT, its presence in the human body has so far been a mystery. The role of the sigma-1 receptor is also poorly understood, so the suggested link between endogenous DMT levels and modulation of the sigma-1 receptor is intriguing. The findings are likely to spur considerable interest in the sigma-1 receptor, as well as trace amines, particularly in relation to mental illnesses such as schizophrenia.'

The many theories of reality are the Millennial version of the alchemical PEACOCK'S TAIL that heralds the beginnings of integration, the Unus Mundus -- the Grand Unified Theory or Theory of Everything in physics. The iridescent tail represents all the colors of light while the "eyes" symbolize all potential universes. The Peacock's Tail is the central part of the alchemical process. The myriad eyes in the tail suggest the highly-chromatic view includes multiple perspectives of imaginal vision. The imaginal ground is first perceived by artistic methods. The best theories share an aesthetic elegance.

FRONTIER SCIENCE is the cutting edge of theoretical and practical research. It uses all the techniques of mainstream or academic science and sometimes explores the unconventional ideas of fringe science as new developments arise that might demonstrate enough credibility to warrant continued research.

The leading edge is often the source of breakthroughs, revisioning data and observations in novel ways that open new possibilities. They embody the legacy of the alchemical spirit in their Mercurial nature. Leonardo da Vinci theorized, "A spirit is by definition a power joined to a body. Alone it cannot support itself, nor can it make any sort of movement. And if you say that it supports itself this can not be from within the elements, for if the spirit is an incorporeal quantity, then the quantity is designated as void, and does not exist in nature; even if it did, it would be filled through the destruction of the element in which it was created." Outside of the mainstream, frontier science has reputable researchers from many domains investigating its subject matter, including the mind/body relationship, consciousness studies, alternative medicine, parapsychology, bioelectromagnetics and a growing number of approaches to quantum physics and cosmological questions. In some cases, experimental evidence is strong and theories are weak, or conversely some robust or coherent theories still lack the predictions or experimental proofs that make for good science, beyond "armchair" speculation.

FRONTIER PHYSICS and BIOPHYSICS investigates nonlocal phenomenon based in the fact that in the quantum world everything is fundamentally interconnected. It includes interpretations of orthodox theories and a wide span of plausible to fringe theories, that may or may not bear fruit beyond their metaphorical appeal. Mind and consciousness seem to share that property, remaining largely unexplained by simple neurology. Therefore, anomalous effects probably have the most to teach us, and may dethrone even popular theories.

Experimental evidence has been accumulating in almost all areas of science that non-local and mind-directed effects upon the physical world are more ubiquitous than we previously admitted. As institutional research becomes more open, a theoretical framework is emerging. We probably have only a vague inkling of the extraordinary potential and we are still at a loss how to approach this "new science." Lack of well-developed theories is no reason to shun these areas of research, even if they challenge the very foundations of science. ENERGETIC CHANGE: The Chaotic, the Orderly, the Imaginal & the Real:

The sacred science of alchemy is an integrated scientific, spiritual and artistic worldview. The Transmodern Alchemist, like his or her medieval or Renaissance counterpart, is rightly concerned with the true nature of reality. The great enigmas of our existence remain the riddle of matter, the origin of the universe, the origin of life, and the human mind or consciousness. We are philosophers; we seek wisdom. We are in a romance with the Cosmos, the dark hunting ground of the Unknown.

The universe informs our awareness and being. It is not a secret but a Mystery. A complete theory would thoroughly describe universal 'circulation of the light.' Sometimes the universal laws of nature lead us beyond ordinary science. Subjects in isolation don't provide enough to accurately describe our complex world. More disciplines mean more tools, better models, better technologies. In theoretics we build up and tear down relentlessly, questioning our own underpinnings, adhering to no stale theory: "Solve et Coagula."

Since matter remains a paradox, our Work, comprehending the spirit of matter, means learning more than the Standard Theory of physics. Both orthodox and heterodox theories stimulate our imaginative and spiritual perception. Energy and information fields, not just genetics, drive human psychophysiology. Libido (psychic energy) drives the imagination. When we speak of Mercury, Sulpher and Salt, we mean our spiritual, energetic and physical bodies as well as the elements.

Each theory adds another piece to the puzzle of existence and meaning and might potentially lead to breakthrough on the bench or in consciousness. Such a brief, conceptual survey of alternate theories in physics cannot do them justice, but it can provide leads for further contemplation and research for the esoteric physics of lab work.

We study the nature of being and our own being, the essence of inner reality. Consciousness is a timeless transformative force unfolding in nature. Alchemy, art and physics are modes of inquiry. So are symbolic contemplation and interaction, transformation of the material and immaterial self.

Alchemy was perhaps the first systems theory approach to metaphysics as a science of the transformation of complex systems and continuous process improvement. Dynamic systems exist, they are ubiquitous. The cosmos, our psychophysical organisms and society are complex systems. Alchemy and physics study the basic principles of components, structures and relationships. Systems may be ordered or disordered, or temporarily regress to an earlier stage. Systems engage in dynamic interaction. Dynamic tension is a basic principle of change.

Naturally, alchemists will vary in desire and capacity to unravel such deep notions. However, putting forth the effort can only enlarge our worldview, deepening our process-oriented understanding of complex psychology and physics, particularly micro- and astrophysics. But whatever is happening contains emergent meaning and can be mined for that realization. Process is an unfolding, a flow. Amplifying our experiences can reveal their depth, purpose and significance.

Awareness of our energetic potential gives new meaning to our photonic being -- that we are truly made of Light and so is the entire manifestation. Light reconciles the opposites. The photon is its own antiparticle because it is electrically neutral.

The dynamic photonic field includes light in all its forms: radio waves, x-rays, microwaves, and all manifestations of the electric and magnetic fields. Some frequencies resonate with our biology. There seems to be a cosmic superconductor, a space-filling medium that is a primary reality with different properties than the classical ether. Wilczek calls this highly structured empty space “the Grid.”

Dynamic Form

Each of us is a miniature universe. Our aim, beyond regenerating and illuminative spagyrics, is psychological and spiritual transformation. The least nature can do is fill us with awe at Her majesty. We can change the chemistry of our own thought processes by feeding in facts and imaginative flights about the nature of reality and letting it cook within us. Therein lies the "art of transformation." Alchemy speeds up the dynamic process activating hidden energies trapped in matter.

This distillation of spirit and thought, alchemical wisdom can be applied to everything we do. Thus, we find our union of soul, spirit and our physical condition -- a soulful mind/matter connection. At least in our imaginations, we can take the quantum leap, visit parallel worlds, inhabit our energetic light bodies, ride on beams of photonic light, dive in The Abyss of a black hole, or realize our Zero Point. We walk a razor's edge so the source of life doesn't become a bringer of destruction to the literal children of the stars.

Through psychological alchemy, Jung probed the secrets of the soul. Through observing the threshold of matter, physicists probe the secrets of matter. The secret is matter does not exist beyond consciousness. Still unknown principles fuse us with the cosmos. The Elixir of Eternal Life is seizing the noble fruit, deep awareness, in each and every moment, extracting the gold of its quintessence.

In the alchemical process, we touch the unseen forces of nature, Universal energies that interpenetrate us, utterly. More than a change in perspective, we begin living in the One World, the Unus Mundus. There are deeper non-personal realms common to humankind. Beyond individuation, the healing of psyche and soma, this is part of the collective transformation of our global culture toward sacred living. Mostly, for us that means the survival of humankind as the fruit of the Tree of Life.

Our challenge is to leave our world better than we found it by tapping our creativity and deepening our spirituality. Dualism is always there, ditto the hazard of literalisms, but the created meaning may be the only glue that holds them and us together in the One World. It DOES "matter," because, well -- here we ARE!

Whether we discuss theories that are orthodox, heterodox, fashionable or turn out to describe reality, our quest is a journey through the Imaginal Realm. Perhaps the alchemical notion of Anima Mundi needs to expand into Anima Universalis or Anima Imaginalis.

Psyche intrudes on our scientific hypotheses. We now imagine Infinite Space as the Goddess whose womb gives us our very existence. For medieval alchemists, the Earth was the center of it all, and what little they knew of the heavens revolved around it. In a relatively short time we have discovered our own galaxy, countless others and expanded our understanding of the immensity of space and deep time.

Space is vast and her mysteries are deeper than the Hubble Deep Field photos which allows us to peer back aeons to the birth of proto-galaxies. Everywhere we look there are hundreds of thousands of galaxies in even a portion of seemingly "empty" space.

Maybe perception equals reality, but reality in real-time may not equal truth. The cyclic nature of the Work means breaking things down, cleaning things up, and putting them back together – again and again, refining theory and practice beyond physical objectives.

Transmodern Alchemy

The last few years have seen an explosion of physical theories, each rewarding but still abstract and perhaps idealized. But they have upgraded our thinking, preparing us for the daybreak of our real awakening to the deepest nature of reality. We now know what is wrong with older theories; we understand their projective nature; we have synthesized many of the seemingly opposing forces, but not yet united them in the quintessence.

In alchemy, the peacock's tail is an intermediary stage presaging the realization that 'All is One'. We are on the right path, moving beyond polarities, yet we know this rainbow of theories is false in the sense that each remains incomplete, even those claiming a 'unified theory'.

How many of us, like Newton, still confound three-dimensional space with God? Is the dichtomy of creator/creation a false one, entirely? How many scientists compartmentalize their religious and psychological views? Can we view the vast panoply of nature as sacred? If absolute space and absolute time are deified, physics becomes theology. Can we ever think outside of the psychic box, in transpsychic terms?

Psychic intrusions in scientific hypotheses are rampant in pet theories. New Age schools of thought teach and brand appealing notions which require further substantiation, such as psi "powers". The nature of mystery means we have to wait and see, if we ever find out. The vast cultural pursuit of science is still relatively young even in terms of human history.

Much of modern science came directly from the occult. Newton was an alchemist. The Nazi scientists actively channeled extraterrestrial sources, or rather thought they were. Their research fed directly into the space program. Einstein regularly read alchemy books for relaxation. Modern psi research conducted at SRI and elsewhere is rooted in ancient ideas of telepathy and mind over matter.

Two hundred years ago we didn't even know about the earth, it's age, etc., much less the cosmos as we know it today. Now we are burdened with the incredible violence of the cosmos with its potentials of creation and destruction. It is in us, too.

Research still includes chaotic exercises in fantasy, chimerical experiments, and metaphysical speculation as our reach exceeds our grasp. Many theories are idiosyncratic, failing to pass the acid test of transsubjectivity because they are filtered through the psyche. It's a long way from notions about 'cosmic circulation' to the mathematics of 'conservation of energy.'

It is also a long way from the 'phi, fi, fo, fum' of sacred geometries to fractal and synergetic theories and pre-geometric formulations. It has taken the whole history of mankind's collective potential for genius to arrive here. Perhaps we dream that since the great minds of history have been concerned with alchemy, that we can 'manufacture' our own greatness by contemplating the same.

Philosophers are more concerned with spirit, physicists with matter. Outdated science is simply dropped, but philosophical notions persist and recur when individuals rediscover them in their own journeys. The old spirit/matter debate continues as the mind-matter problem of consciousness. The World Soul, Anima Mundi lies between and unites the two -- material and psychological powers. Psyche and spirit inform matter. Intuitions become thought-models before they become holistic, ordered scientific hypotheses.

Even though scientifically we may have entered the final stage of the Great Work, we still have a panoply of complex imagery by which we imagine the goal, some accurate, some fanciful. They are significant, but miss the mark. These theories of lesser illumination may be silver, but they are not quite gold. Thus, attractive theories compete with one another for our beliefs. The temptation is to identify with a 'flawed diamond.'

Iosis, the Ultraviolet Aura

James Hillman quotes Boehme, implying “Imagination of the great Mystery, where a wondrous essential Life is born” results from the colors. The full flowering of imagination shows itself as the qualitative spread of colors so that imagining is a coloring process, and if not in literal colors, then as the qualitative differentiation of intensities and hues which is essential to the act of imagination.

Imaginative vision precedes the whiteness itself, otherwise the white earth cannot be perceived as the transfiguration of nature by imagination. For this new perception, the perception of colors too goes through transubstantiation into a mystical or painterly sense of them as substances, as the complexions on the faces of light which reveal the true quality of nature, its endlessly subtle and multiple intensities. Colors shift from being phenomena of light to phenomena themselves; or, light shifts to being the presentation of color and secondary to it so that the white earth is not sheer white in the literal sense but a field of flowers, a peacock's tail, a coat of many colors..."

The peacock's tail is an infinite manifold of transformation, a fractal of the entire panoply of Light. Maybe there is a spectrum of relative truths like there is of prismatic colors. In this sense, the many theories of reality are the Millennial version of the alchemical peacock's tail that heralds the beginnings of integration, the Unus Mundus, the Grand Unified Theory or Theory of Everything in physics.

Sometimes a new theory is born spontaneously as a revelation in the the mind of a genius researcher. When a unified theory is discovered, it certainly will be the dawn of a new day for mankind. The vast array of cumulative scientific insights will finally be united as more than a theory. The paradigm shift will be seismic. How much longer will it take for the culture to become immersed in that realization? It will transform ourselves and our view of the cosmos utterly. It may or may not "make sense" to us. The intuition of physicists has been refined into mathematical formulae (conceptual structures) not visualizations of imagery or things.

The iridescent tail represents all the colors of light while the "eyes" symbolize all potential universes. The peacock's tail challenges us to remain open to intuition with a beginner's mind, without preconceptions. How can we change our colors if we are dyed in the theoretical wool of consensus thought? What we need is hyperdimensional thought and resonant patterns of association.

How will we know "The One" when we see it? Dorn postulated a union of the alchemist's spirit, body, and soul with the unus mundus, the "one world," the eternal ground of all being (the Chinese "Diamond Body," the Dharmakaya, Zen's "original face," Maslow's Being-cognition, Krishnamurti's meditative awareness).

Other names of this peacock stage are the Green Dragon and Iosis, which emerges from coagulatio. The fire-breathing Green Dragon is the universal spirit, present in everything. In the complex signification of the final alchemical stage, Iosis --the violet stage of the rubedo -- all the material becomes unified. Colors are primary qualities in the heart of matter. Appearance of the rainbow body heralds successful spiritual rebirth, the glorified body.

This color -- an electrical discharge of fantastic colors -- a shimmering array of transcendent moments, is beyond sensory perception every bit as much as the Quantum Chromodynamics of physics. A rapid and transitory fluctuation of all the colors during certain stages leads to the completion of the work. The violet ferment changes and tints the gold through and through; all rust or tarnish is removed in the diamond clarity of primordial awareness.

In this final step we reach the upper limit of the alchemical refining process. Fused and refused, the Stone transfigures itself into a clear, incorruptible, eternally living crystal shining with a ruby hue. It is a visionary state -- visions of light. Meanwhile, we must watch out for our own "rose-colored glasses," not mistaking projection for the clarity of the ultraviolet-sensing Third Eye and Crown Center, which classically correspond with the color range from Indigo to Violet.

The Red Stage or iosis, the ultimate and final stage of alchemical transformation, is called coagulation, when the elements of the first six stages coalesce into the highest stage of perfection. Here that the Uber-Marriage occurs--the union of sulfur and mercury, consummation of king and queen, quicksilver and gold, sun and moon.

Psychic reality fuses with the primacy of conscious, physical reality. It releases the Ultima Materia of the soul—the Diamond Body, which is the Philosopher's Stone. Through the Stone, the alchemists believed they could exist indefinitely on all planes of reality as psycho-spiritual force.

In 1934, A. J. Hopkins in 'Alchemy child of Greek Philosophy', discussed 'iosis' as a 'violet or purple' stage. Berthelot's "Collection des anciens alchimistes grecs" cites Jung ('Psychology of Alchemy,' 1944, p. 229) who claims Heraclitus delineates the four stages of the process in the Greek texts as Melanosis (blackening), Leukosis (whitening), Xanthosis (yellowing) and Iosis (or Erythrosis, reddening). He cautions "In order to tinge gold, it is best to do it after Iosis" (Vol. 3, p. 175).

Hopkins said, "the result... would be the Iosis (the Violet), the Peacock's Tail, the Rainbow, a kind of supercharged Gold that could tincture other materials, because it had more of the Spirit of Gold than its material could hold. And "Finally, when you make it violet, all substances become a unity." (Berthelot, Collection, Vol. 3, p. 192).

Iosis implies fluidity, noncorporeality and pneuma. An accurate attribute or not, it certainly speaks to our current scientific dilemma, so close yet seemingly far from a unified theory. We still don't know what "It" is. "Address these prayers to heaven and demand happiness for yourselves. Io Paean! Io Paean! Let us rejoice!" (Aristophanes, Thesmophoriazusae)

Curiously, the root ios- also refers to a venom, virus or disease, reminding in alchemy that the poison is in the cure. Indeed, the highest state of the alchemical process, Iosis, refers both to its characteristic color, a reddish violet (Greek ion = the violet, cf. ios = rust), and to the venom (Gk. ios = poison). Does it imply fantasy is part of truth, or caution us not to mistake one for the other? How many self-deluded individuals insist they have made the Stone? The motto of cybernetic I/O is "garbage in, garbage out."

For when all is equilibrated, when all is beheld without all, there is joy, joy, joy that is but one facet of a diamond, every other facet whereof is more joyful than joy itself." The challenge for the alchemist is to trust the process, the life force we presume is at work in the universe. There is, in the end, only one Life Force, though it operates on many levels, each with its own set of challenges. Discrimination of some sort, at every level, is therefore essential. Unity exists, but so does duality. Truth exists but so do fantasies.

Transformations do occur. Plants turn to coal; coal turns to diamond. Uranium decays into lead. Nuclear reactions turn mass into energy. Should we expect any less for ourselves? Does our field nature persist after our demise? Meanwhile, imagination remains part of our equations for absolute wholeness. The threshold of matter, where nothing becomes something, remains of great philosophical interest and is the focus of our experiments.
According to most creation stories, out of primal Nothingness, the All or Everything emerges or emanates. Paradoxically, how does nothing become something? Energy "crystallizes" into matter in the womb of empty space, a dynamic Void. Mass is simply a form of energy. This process is structured by an underlying, invisible, geometrical lattice. Actually, it is pre-geometric. Because "the Grid" has no true physical existence, it is metaphysical (beyond physics).
Not only is materialism (a natural philosophy) a theory of metaphysics considering static matter a primary reality, any attempt to describe reality is metaphysical speculation. In its dynamic form matter cannot be separated from energy. Energy is a property of matter, which can be considered potential energy. The mystic believes in matter, but believes it is more than science has yet discovered. Even before Western science began, mystics believed that mind, consciousness, or spirit is a property of matter. It hardly matters, philosophically, if you consider it as manifesting force or manifesting spirit.
The nature of reality is that matter-energy must be taken together .The theory of relativity conceives of this single substance as a distortion of the structure of space. Physicist Ian Barbour writes that, "...in quantum theory, separate particles seem to be temporary and partial manifestations of a shifting pattern of waves that combine at one point, dissolve again, and recombine elsewhere; a particle begins to look like a local outcropping of a continuous substratum of vibrational energy." That vibrational energy is governed by the laws of probability.
But what subtle forces underlie matter-energy and space-time? All form and power are latent within the void. The Heart Sutra tells us that, "Form is not other than Void, Void is not other than Form." This implies that our human form is not other than void, and biophysics shows this to be true. Our physical makeup is largely emptiness. We are fundamentally electromagnetic entities, not merely chemical beings. We can imagine our finer existence as wave-fronts in space. Our personal "space" is not utterly empty, but cannot be conceived apart from our matter exhibiting itself in particular ways, i.e. as "waves."
The void state, or primal matrix, is "cosmic zero," and proportionately our most fundamental reality. It is part of the surrealistic quantum realm. It lies within us all, for the relative space between our atoms is astronomical. This is the ground state of existence which mystics seek in their meditation, moving beyond mind and maya. It is that state of consciousness where outer perceptions cease, and consciousness is free to simply be.

A Peacock's Tail of Theories

Theory must explain what is observed. But almost invariably that description is an interpretation of the abstract mathematics of quantum mechanics. Contending schools of thought include Copenhagen, Transactional, Many Worlds, Bohm, existential, stochastics, many minds, objective collapse, decoherence, quantum logic, etc.

Many terms are possible properties. They are attempts to explain how quantum mechanics informs our understanding of nature since experiments are open to different interpretations (QFT, QED, SED, QCD, RQFT, etc.). They are sets of rules for operating on experimental data. They help us determine the probability of certain results. A given theory may have two interpretations, one of which is deterministic, and the other not. There are variants within interpretations even though the physical theory stands.

Interpretations help us determine what is considered "real," but they also appeal imaginatively to our archetypal beliefs. Because of their archetypal nature, theories function like Strange Attractors holding us in thrall. So, we can get zealously hooked on certain theories because of their qualities and implications. It is a philosophical as well as scientific problem.

The status of interpretations is a matter of philosophical argument. Casting aside consensus opinion, heterodox theories strike out on their own based on different assumptions. The boundaries of realism and belief may blur. Different observers give different accounts of phenomena. No experimental evidence distinguishes among interpretations.

In their vision the universe of energy and matter emanated from the primordial state, impenetrable veils of negative existence, becoming progressively denser. They attributed existence to resonance and the transformations of Light and Sound. They recognized four primary elements, which we can correlate with the four fundamental forces: strong force, weak force, gravity, and electromagnetism.

Even though superstition filled gaps in knowledge about the nature of these other worlds, in essence they are surprisingly close. Only in the last century has science been able to affirm these ancient intuitions. As man looked inside himself, he saw the basic essence of reality and struggled to describe it in common terms. Even in science, there is always a gap between reality and the descriptions of it.

We are psychophysical beings. We keep trying to crack our code, to read the blueprints on the creation of the universe and on life, which is just as mysterious. Research has led away from mechanistic clockwork models of the universe toward more organic models based in dynamics, process, holism, acknowledgement of chaos in self-organization, and a closer tie between physics and the life sciences. Some of these theories are orthodox, agreeing with the Standard Model of Quantum Mechanics (particle physics), while others are heterodox, relying on the internal coherence of each discrete model.

New research comes to light each day. We can understand their basic concepts even if we cannot read their mathematical proofs. Energy is mass in volatile form. This revolution in the nature of reality has been expressed in many theories, each of which looks at the problem from a different angle with potential solutions. Some imply larger cycles of creation and destruction of universes, Big Bang singularities, while others insist there was no Big Bang. There are theories that require dark matter and dark energy, and others where it is irrelevant or superfluous.

There is not just one theory of parallel universes, but a variety of them ranging from bubble universes, accelerating universes, expanding universes to branching universes. THE CHAOTIC, THE ORDERLY, THE IMAGINAL & THE REAL:

The Transmodern Alchemist, like his or her medieval or Renaissance counterpart, is rightly concerned with the true nature of reality. The great enigmas of our existence remain the riddle of matter, the origin of the universe, the origin of life, and the human mind or consciousness. Since matter remains a paradox, our Work means learning more than the Standard Theory of physics. Both orthodox and heterodox theories stimulate our imaginative and spiritual thinking. Energy and information fields, not just genetics, drive human psychophysiology.

Each theory adds another piece to the puzzle of existence and meaning and might potentially lead to breakthrough on the bench or in consciousness. Naturally a brief survey of alternate theories can not do them justice, but it can provide leads for further contemplation and research. Alchemists will vary in capacity to comprehend such deep notions, but it is imperative to try as it may enlarge our own worldview.

The Reality Show

In his book, The Sacred and the Profane, Mircea Eliade states, "The creation of the world becomes the archetype of every human gesture, whatever its plane of reference may be. Every construction or fabrication has the cosmogony as paradigmatic model."

Because there is no consensus among physicists, there are many theories of reality. Each theory is argued from its own hypotheses and must be considered a coherent whole to be worthy of consideration, though all are works in progress. They arise from the gaps in conventional theory and also from the strong internal drives of archetypal ideas, many of which were expressed in alchemy.

Paradigms, in science, are thought-models. They direct their holders to pose only certain questions; to utilize only certain methods of (re)search for answers. The specific paradigmatic lenses we choose to form our conceptualization of reality actually function to shape that reality, which we hope to capture and understand. By emphasizing specific relationships, or states of consciousness, these viewpoints condition the nature of the "reality" we experience.

In Ego at the Threhold, Edward Sampson elaborates on this concept:

"The holder of this paradigm can create the very reality that his paradigm leads him to expect, albeit without conscious intent on his part or on the part of those persons with whom he interacts...Insofar as existing paradigms stress the routinized and mechanical side of life, the liberating alternative lies fallow. A model for human freedom, then, is a prime requisite to its realization."

We can view all theories with our alchemical eye to determine if and how they conform with ancient alchemical theories and intuitions. Naturally, this is speculative, but then so is much of theoretical physics. When theory is based in mathematics, it may describe real or imaginary universes (Hilbert space). Theories that grow from observation and experiment tend to reflect the physical world. Predictions and experiments can make or break a theory.

When scientists make their thought-experiments, they enter the same mental realm as mystics and philosophers. They allow us to roam the universe from the micro- to macro- domains. Some of these subtle perceptions reflect our lived reality. Theories and models function as consciousness "maps" allow us to familiarize ourselves with the territory. We enter certain theoretical universes at will and explore from within.

For example, Einstein was imaginally riding a beam of light when he discovered relativity theory. Einstein struggled with the problem of time dilation and nearly abandoned the problem. Then, one night after incubating the problem for months, he awoke with the answer that not even space was absolute. He concluded that the only absolute of nature was the speed of light. Because things shrink in the direction of motion relative to a fixed observer at high speed, you get the strange result that objects shrink to nothing!

Space bends and twists. The geometry of space is non-Euclidean. Relativity paints a picture of the space/time continuum that is counter-intuitive and cannot be imagined by normal human senses, which are based on three-dimensional perception. Four-dimensional space is also known as hyper-space, or 4-space. In terms of normal experience, it appears to us as nonspace.

Wormholes in space were discovered by Einstein, Rosen, Wheeler, and Misner. Wheeler found that they pulsed over time. Their link to reality was found in black holes, or rips in the fabric of the space/time continuum. Eddington showed that stars are gaseous throughout, and are stable because they are balanced between enormous gravitational pull and an outward gas pressure. When they collapse electrons are squeezed together almost maximally close.

Black holes are different from other collapsed stars like neutron stars and white dwarfs. They are basically empty space. All of the matter of a black hole is at the center in the form of a singularity with infinite density and zero dimensions. It is a spinning gateway to another reality.
Professor John Archibald Wheeler, in Geometrodynamics, states that mass is an illusion of pure curvature. He further states that charge is an illusion, an illusion of chargeless electric lines trapped in the multiply-connected topology of three-dimensional space. In this model, an elementary particle is conceived of as a mini-black hole.

A black hole model usses the torus structure for the collapse of light in an extreme field of gravitation. Space-time collapses to a singularity inside the event horizon. The boundary between the mini-black hole, where the light-cone cannot reach infinity, and light-cones which can reach infinity is called an 'event horizon.' The light cone is a vector in the collapsing geometry of space-time.

The curvature of space is found to be infinite at the singularity. This yields a breakdown in the idea of space and time, going to a paradigm of pregeometry. A singularity hidden by an event horizon is called a mini-black hole. There is no real mass involved. Real mass is only an illusion of the statistical level of large numbers of these mini-black holes. Penrose's twistor is a mathematical description of Wheeler's mini-black hole.

The universe can be seen as a cosmic computer in the pregeometric level of information. Space and time appear as secondary statistical constructs. The pregeometry can be identified with the collective consciousness, of which we are largely unconscious except in enlightenment states.

Wormholes not associated with black holes are described as potentially passable, but only if a special "balm" was applied to the sides of the wormhole. Scientists called this balm "exotic matter." This sounds very much like an alchemical fantasy, but it didn't remain one for long.

"The details of making the wormhole into a time tunnel have now been worked out. All you need to do is move one end of the wormhole at high speed (close to the speed of light) or place it in a strong gravitational field. Either will do the trick. Once this is done, you could go in one end and come out the other at an earlier time. Or you could go in the other end, go through it in the opposite direction, and come out in the future."

This is easily accomplished as a thought-experiment, but presents problems for the physical body. But it does open speculation on what vehicles of consciousness could actually make such a journey unscathed. As our medicical and technological sciences progress, who knows what mysterious forms humans might come to inhabit which could make these journeys possible?

As for the mystics, they have already tackled the problem. The Body of Light (Diamond Body) is a vehicle of consciousness appropriate for such travel. Light is an electromagnetic wave. We can speculate on identifying with a quantum of light as a vehicle for our consciousness, and imagine escaping the constraints of 3-space. In the world of relativity, light has the greatest degree of freedom. Mystics admonish us to detach and dis-identify from our bodies, emotions, thoughts, and ego. They say that time, space, and the separate identity are illusions--only a virtual reality, not absolute Truth. Our day-to-day reality is a relative one.

The process of detaching is what mystics mean when they suggest we "die daily." They encourage a process of "spiritual body building". If we imagine this body smaller and smaller, we enter the sub-atomic realm of quantum theory. We are no longer subject to to the classical laws of physics and biology. We have a model for making quantum leaps--at least with the mind, or in the Ruach. This action takes place in the "virtual space" of Universal Mind.

Stephen Hawking discovered that in virtual pair production, pairs composed of a particle and antiparticle are spontaneously produced out of the vacuum. They pop into existence, then come back together almost immediately and annihilate one another. The process is allowed because of a basic principles in quantum theory, called the uncertainty principle. This principle tells us that there is a "fuzziness" associated with nature at the atomic level. The process is concealed within this fuzziness.

These thought-experiments are virtual experiences in mental/imaginal reality, and are pre-conditioned by archetypal notions. They can have real consequences in real time. Previously enfolded information about the nature of reality emerges. Many scientific discoveries have come from dreams. They are equally revealing whether we consider their psychic or material aspects.

Lack of consensus is even more prevalent in consciousness studies. It relates to our alchemical quest because in alchemy, consciousness is an inherent quality of matter. Models of consciousness, from Panpsychism, to Orchestrated OR, to neural nets are even more numerous than models of physical reality. [See Journal of Consciousness Studies, JCS] Almost every writer on the subject has their own pet theory. Ultimately, matter and consciousness are categories of mind.

Consciousness Debate

Alchemy is a panpsychic philosophy. Panpsychism is the doctrine that mind is a fundamental feature of the world which exists throughout the universe. Panpsychism, in philosophy, is either the view that all parts of matter involve mind, or the more holistic view that the universe is an organism that possesses a mind. It is stronger than animism, which holds only that all things are alive.

Panpsychism doesn't believe that all matter is alive or even conscious but rather that the constituent parts of matter are composed of some form of mind and are sentient. This is alchemy's spirit hidden in matter -- the elusive Mercurius. Alchemy cannot rely on mathematical backing for reliability, but it carries the authority of psychic reality:

"The old way of picturing energy lived on in the alchemistic tradition in the idea of Mercurius as a "hidden fire" or fiery life-breath or a kind of life-spirit inherent in all things...This fire-spirit imagines everything in nature; he is a creation spirit who contains in himself "the image of all creatures." In the alchemical opus he must be liberated from his imprisonment in matter and then he begins to rotate in himself, vortex-fashion; at the same time he reveals himself as an immortal componenet of the alchemist's psyche. By way of the different stages of the so-called phlogiston theory this archetypal image gradually developed into the energy concept of modern physics. There is therefore no concept fundamental to modern physics that is not in one degree or another a differentiated form of some primordial archetypal idea." (M. L. von Franz, Projection and Recollection in Jungian Psychology)

We must realize there is only a probability of our ideas being right, but the quest lies in pursuing them passionately. We can frame our approach from the sense of excitement that we are taking part in mankind's great experiment, which is ancient in terms of philosophy but recent in terms of deep time.

"Psyche is understood holistically to include both conscious and unconscious experience. Process philosophers make this clear by referring to panexperientialism, which does indeed accept that experience occurs "all the way down" in reality (and presumably "all the way up", too). However, experience that becomes conscious of itself, i.e., conscious experience, is accepted as an emergence -- in the way predicted by dynamical systems theory (without a total category shift) as a "phase-shift" or more explicitly as the reflexive or recursive experience that makes one's experiential field an "object" of awareness (experience of experience).

If experience or awareness just emerged from non-aware, non-experiencing matter-energy stuff, that would be a total category shift and thus a sort of miracle or at least magical thinking, unacceptable to the rational mind. The emergence into conscious experience, however, is not a miracle (so it was probably experienced as such). It is likely the result move into the symbolic condition of human culture, thus allowing for our experienced reality to be divided into the subjective and the objective worlds. Previous to this split, experience can be understood as the result of the relational dynamic and not as something occurring privately within a subjective entity.

Thus experience in itself may precede the experiencing subject. Unconscious experience = experience w/o a subject of experience, and there is no reason why this could not be manifesting itself all the time in all the way down, say, in the dynamic relations amongst subatomic particles, at least momentarily. Of course, this leaves open the possibility that there may be vastly expanded systems of experience much larger, broader, or deeper than our own particular version of symbolically- enabled human conscious experience (or, perhaps, that there is a cosmic background of awareness-without- an-object-of-awareness incomprehensible to us).

Unconscious experience is still experience, sensations felt, intentions meeting intentions based in blind intuition or instinct, learning accumulating glacially, or, rather, evolutionarily, and manifesting itself in the forms reality takes. The unconscious is our ever-present vital source and contains far more than a single human consciousness could ever encompass since it is both within us and all around us. (Greg Nixon)

Dynamic entities associated with human consciousness can be modelled as energy-bearing dynamic modes with biologically relevant spatial boundaries and time spans. Actualities remain primary, but defining their dynamics is often elusive.

Conventional quantum physics doesn't deal with consciousness. Heterodox theories often include it. But the great enigmas of our existence remain the riddle of matter, the origin of the universe, the origin of life, and the human mind or consciousness. Yet, the orthodox view remains dominant because it is so useful.

Accepted cosmology is based on the unique case of electrically neutral bodies embedded in neutral interstellar gas and dust. It is derived from the very special physics that applies only in laboratories at the Earth's surface. It relies on the incredibly weak force of gravity to create, shape and drive stars and galaxies. It needs unseen "dark matter" to shape galaxies. It requires that stars are isolated bodies powered by an internal nuclear engine.

Orthodox cosmology assumes that the observed interstellar magnetic fields are magically divorced from the electric currents that MUST create them. Complex, filamentary structures are seen at every scale and attributed to colliding gas. But colliding gases heat up and disperse. Yet this is given as the model for how stars are formed. Because gravity is infinitely weak, theorists have had to conjure up an infinitely heavy object - the Black Hole - to save appearances. Cosmology has become the realm of the mathematician alone and inevitably lost touch with reality.

Quantum Mysticism

VEDIC PHYSICS: Ancient Vedic physics claims reality is rooted in irreducible non-material primordial consciousness. In this theory, consciousness is the primary reality of the universe. It is all that exists and matter is illusory. There are many alternative theories of superfluidic consciousness and subtle matter. They attempt to explain pre-space, information and experiential anomalies, such as synchronicity, nonlocal mind and paranormal phenomena.

Perhaps the unified field of consciousness is all we ever experience. Imminent consciousness is the sacred quality of matter -- pure being, the sacred root. Lazslo compares the vacuum with the Akashic field. The unified field of cosmic consciousness is the philosophical void, actually a plenum. Further, the vacuum has a memory, making transcendent consciousness akin to "immortality."

If our own memories reside in a system of hologram-like solitons which reside in a medium of loosely coupled subquantum particles we are back to the Vedic theory of Akasha or Jung's collective unconscious. To access this information we need to tune our consciousness to resonate with the holograms in the vacuum field.

There are contemporary models of consciousness/matter with and without chaos that are rooted in the vacuum. Some energetic descriptions of consciousness are more worthy of our alchemical attention than others, though each contribute another facet, another point of view. The view is that consciousness in its various forms is inherent in the process of the organization of matter and energy.

SELF-AWARE UNIVERSE: Amit Goswami, PhD proposes consciousness as the fundamental reality of the material world, based in the philosophy of monistic idealism. He claims it is a consistent, paradox-free interpretation of quantum mechanics that accounts for nonlocal psychic phenomena, such as self-consciousness, free will, creativity and ESP. There is one webwork of existence, a dance of creation and annihilation, with intentionality. But Goswami does not propose consciousness is mind; they are different concepts.

In monistic idealism, the consciousness of the subject in a subject-object experience is the same consciousness that is the ground of all being. Therefore, consciousness is unitive. The domain of potentia also exists in consciousness. Nothing is outside consciousness.

Buddha tells us that, "There is an Unborn, Unoriginated, Uncreated, Unformed. If there were not this Unborn, this Unoriginated, this Uncreated, this Unformed, escape from the world of the born, the originated, the created, the formed would not be possible." But there is this essential ground, and it is possible to "escape" spacetime, according to Buddha.

If the brain-mind is itself an object in a nonlocal consciousness that encompasses all reality, then what we call objective empirical reality is within this consciousness. The one becomes many through self-reference, fragmentation into tangled hierarchies of self-iterating information.

The trick is to distinguish between consciousness and awareness. In processes of which we are aware classical models prevail. When we consciously see, consciousness collapses the quantum state of the brain-mind. Unconscious processing does not effect collapse of the quantum wave-function, pinning down quantum entities to one reality. Thus, unconscious processing permits the expression of nonlocal phenomena.

The situation in the brain-mind, with consciousness collapsing the wave function may only happen when awareness is present. There is a tangled hierarchy within the immanent self-reference of a system observing itself. An operation by a self-referential system is where the von Neumann chain stops.

According to the idealist interpretation, coherent superpositions exist in a transcendent domain as formless archetypes of matter. Suppose that the parallel universes of the many-worlds theory are not material but archetypal in content--universes of the mind. Then, each observation makes a causal pathway in the fabric of possibilities in the transcendent domain of reality. Once the choice is made, all except one of the pathways are excluded from the world of manifestation.

Goswami proposes that, "the universe exists as formless potentia in myriad possible branches in the transcendent domain and becomes manifest only when observed by conscious beings." These self-referential observations plot the universe's causal history, rejecting the myriad parallel alternatives that never manifest.

The universe bifurcates in every event in the transcendent domain, becoming many branches, until in one of the branches there is a sentient being that can look with awareness and complete a quantum measurement, according to Goswami. The causal pathway leading to that sentient being collapses into space-time reality.

Meaning arises in the universe when sentient beings observe it, choosing causal pathways from among the myriad transcendent possibilities. This anthropocentric view is also reflected in cosmology as the Anthropic Principle, where the cosmos is created for our sake. Amazingly, this is apparently compatible with quantum physics.

The self of our self-reference is due to a tangled hierarchy, but our consciousness is the consciousness of the Being that is beyond the subject-object split. There is no other source of consciousness in the universe. The self of self-reference and the consciousness of the original consciousness, together, make what we call self-consciousness.

IMPLICATE ORDER: One of the most popular theories is David Bohm's holographic Implicate Order, which annihilates the notion of empty space. Bohm showed space is as real as the matter that moves through it. Space and Matter are interconnected. Calculations of zero-point energy suggest space is full rather than empty.

Plasma & Vortex Theories

"...at the conclusion of the alchemical work, there arises a rotating, eternal structure, the 'one nature'...the prima materia is in Komarios' view, a rotating heavenly order come down into matter 'which God not man, has transferred there.' Wal Thornhill's ELECTRIC UNIVERSE is plasma-based. Since plasma comprises almost all the universe it is another candidate for the mysterious IT which comprises the "Mind that is the Universe." Plasma belongs right in there with photons, gravity, and the vacuum potential.

Plasma is an emergent (i.e., higher-level or statistical-level) orderliness of complex electrical forces: such properties as filamentation, long-range attraction and short-range repulsion, braiding, characteristic velocities, formation and decay of plasmoids, and identity of properties at different scales. The Electric Universe cosmology is based on the behavior of electrically charged bodies embedded in a charged plasma. Plasma is a gas in which electrons have been removed from some of the atoms - in other words, it is ionised. Plasma is an excellent electrical conductor. 99.999% of matter in the universe is composed of plasma. A charged plasma has a small excess of negative or positive charge. Plasma naturally forms filaments in response to electric and magnetic fields. Those filaments may "pinch" magnetically to form stars. Stars are not isolated but receive electrical power from the galaxy - hence the million degree solar corona. Electromagnetic forces are infinitely more powerful than gravity and capable of simply explaining phenomena attributed to Black Holes. Electromagnetic forces can repel or attract. TWISTOR SPACE: Roger Penrose describes a theory of twistor space, which maps the geometric objects of the four dimensional space-time (Minkowski Space) into the geometric objects in the 4-dimensional complex space with the metric signature. The coordinates in such a space are called "twistors," useful for geometrically modeling emergent theories of quantum gravity. This approach is natural for solving the equations of motion of massless fields of arbitrary spins.

Twistors are vortex-shaped forms. A vortex is the only way in which a fluid may move through itself. Physics regards mathematical forms, (not "things"), as the smallest building blocks of matter. Twistor modelling relates the nature of matter to space. Twistors are 20 orders of magnitude smaller than a nuclear particle. They are mathematical concepts which are massless.

The Torus model of the Universe, proposed by Arthur Young, could provide a macrocosmic paradigm for experiencing higher mystical states. A twistor is the smallest discovered form of a torus. A torus is a donut-shaped form plus its surrounding fields. Each twistor is shaped like a donut or piece of rope. It twists just once as it circles a central axis. The less energy it has, the greater its size. It travels at the speed of light in the direction of its axis.

Twistor theory uses complex numbers for expression. Complex numbers are composed of real and imaginary parts. The behavior of one part is influenced by the other part and vice versa. If the two separate types of numbers are to be properly combined to make complex numbers, they must be interwoven like the warp and woof of finished cloth.

Once this bolt of complex number "cloth" is woven, it can be "crumpled" but the interwoven nature of the real and imaginary parts prevent the possibility of tangled snarls. This loom analogy describes the orderly quality of the cmplex number and the logical manner in which it behaves. The addition of the imaginary part to the real number brings the real number out of the realm of potential and into the real world of manifestation.

Twistor theory goes beyond the use of the orderly, complex numbers to describe the universe. Twistor theory attempts to take into account empty space. A long-term aim of twistor theory is to eliminate the physical theory of a continuum, or "smooth" empty space. It is not empty; it is the Void.

A twistor space universe is described by four complex numbers, giving a total of eight parts to describe this view of reality. These include the 3 dimensions of position in space, two angular directions of motion through space-time, and the energy, spin, and polarization of that motion. In this view, the fundamental building blocks of this universe are twistors. Not particles, twistors lie between the concepts of particle and point. Mathematically, a twistor is closer to being the square root of a particle. Yet, theoretically, it is more analogous to the concept of the undivided point.

Real number behavior is controlled by the hidden complex structure of twistor space. Not only can particles be constructed out of twistors, but even the points in space-time themselves. A point in space-time is generated by the collection of twistors representing all possible light paths through that space-time point. What is intriguing about the 8-dimensional twistor space is that, by the orderly nature of complex numbers, only one kind of space-time is permitted to exist. That is the four-dimensional space-time of our perceived world.

RESONANCE PROJECT: The Haramein-Rauscher metric is a new solution to Einstein's Field Equations that incorporates torque and Coriolis effects. The bottom line of Haramein's Resonance Project is that all particles have a mini-black hole at their core. The dual torus topology occupies a central role in the spinor, twistor and quaternionic formulation. This topology appears to be ubiquitous in astrophysical and cosmological phenomena and is predicted by the U4 bubble of the affine connection in the Haramein-Rauscher solution to Einstein’s field equations. The geometric structure of the complexified Minkowski space is associated with the twistor algebra, spinor calculus, and the SUn groups of the quaternionic formalism. Hence quantum theory and relativity are related mathematically through the dual torus topology.

They examine the gravitic and electromagnetic collective coherent structures of plasma and their interactions with the vacuum. A balance equation between extremely collapsing gravitational systems and their surrounding energetic plasma media is proposed. The dynamics of the plasma media, the structure of the vacuum, and the coupling of electromagnetic and gravitational forces with the inclusion of torque and Coriolis phenomena is described by the Haramein-Rauscher solution to Einstein’s field equations.

The exotic nature of complex black holes involves not only the black hole itself but the surrounding plasma media. The main forces involved are intense gravitational collapsing forces, powerful electromagnetic fields, charge, and spin angular momentum. We find soliton or magneto-acoustic plasma solutions to the relativistic Vlasov equations solved in the vicinity of black hole ergospheres. Collective phonon or plasmon states of plasma fields are given. We utilize the Hamiltonian formalism to describe the collective states of matter and the dynamic processes within plasma allowing us to deduce a possible polarized vacuum structure and a unified physics.

Other Theories

David Deutsch and others propose MULTIVERSE theories where all potential timelines play out in some hyperspace arena. Wheeler's was the first Many Worlds Interpretation. The multiverse, Linde contends, is like a growing fractal, sprouting inflationary domains that sprout more inflationary domains, with each domain spreading and cooling into a new universe. In this model, our universe is just one of the sprouts. Each particular part of the multiverse, including our part, began from a singularity somewhere in the past, but that singularity was just one of an endless series that was spawned before it and will continue after it.

Each universe in the multiverse is a separate closed volume of space and time. The other universes are unavailable to us, just as the interior of a black hole is unavailable. We cannot even know if the universes are finite or infinite in number. Some details of the fluctuation of ripples in background radiation may help us determine the truth. Till then, the theory hangs on assumptions we must make about the physics of very dense states of matter, (Lemly, 2000).

John Cramer describes a transactional theory where information passes backwards and forwards through time. Quantum handshakes between the future and the past create reality. Past emitters and future absorbers interlace past and future together. The non-linear collapse of these wave/particle complementary pairs creates a single world history, but past events are not causal.

Claude Swanson describes a SYNCHRONIZED UNIVERSE. Another alternative theory is Matti Pitkanin's "many-sheeted" TGD physics. Alex Kaivarainen proposes a dynamic matrix BIVACUUM Model. Tony Smith emphasizes conformal physics with his Clifford algebra models of consciousness. Yet another model without chaos is Leon Maurer's theosophy-inspired "ABC Theory," which depends on holographic and String theory for the initial singularity of the Big Bang.

Quantum and holographic mind theories abound, but New Agey theories often confound aspects of different theoretical schools of thought. Some of them mistakenly emphasize the role of the observer in theories other than the Standard Model where that is irrelevant. We cannot choose an eclectic potpourri of terms from various theories becaus they are philosophically appealing. We have to unpack each theory and its implications as coherent wholes.

Some are primarily naive projective identifications, though mystics suggest consciousness opens to the ground of being. Krishnamurti, taught that when the brain dies to thought something else operates that brings about a mutation of the brain's structure and a permanent transformation of consciousness. This suggests quite different mechanisms than Projective Identification in which the mind becomes an aspect of something much larger. (Peat)

No Grand Unified Theory is immediately forthcoming, and conventional science is reluctant to overturn established, though flawed theories. Instead, mathematicians add new terms, which may or may not be "real." There are many schools of thought about the fundamentals of microphysics and cosmology. A TOE theory of everything must satisfactorily explain both domains and the interaction of Macro- and Microcosm at the interpenetrating level of quantum cosmology.

Scalar physics and process physics both model subquantal processes in which chaos is foundational. Scalar physics describes the informational content of the field as a virtual or holographic blueprint in the continuous vacuum. Time has probably never been treated properly in physics, but is primary in scalar physics.

Process physics assumes information is primordial. Information systems may be open to interpretation within a deterministic chaos theory framework. Probability is the core of information. Chaos theory uses probability not only by itself but also in getting a quantity called "information." In information theory, information is relative to signal to noise ratio in efficiency of transmission.

Vacuum Age

The quantum vacuum noise creates quantum vacuum friction which condenses matter from virtual photon flux. This implies the possibility of engineering or squeezing the vacuum with frequency tuning and feedback loops which add quantum noise. Chaos-based modulations lead to unexploited information transmission.

This opens up theoretical engineering of the massless vacuum and EM entities (potentials, fields, waves). Possibilities include energy extraction, time distortion and reversal, tuning top quarks and Higgs fields, quantum computing, photonic signal processing and memory storage. Even more startling is the biological potential for rejuvination and healing through quantum bioholography. Theoretical physics has so far failed to find a full description that facilitates experimental creation from the vacuum potential. Yet nature does so continuously.

Self-Tuning Universe

This revives the alchemical idea of 'self-tuning'. String theory, now called M-theory use the self-tuning brane scenario in an attempt to solve the cosmological constant problem in the context of extra dimensions. Rather than making the vacuum energy small, this approach proceeds by removing the gravitational effect of vacuum energy on the expansion of the universe. There are difficulties in obtaining cosmological evolution compatible with observation in this context. Models include a bulk scalar field coupling to the brane and rescaling of the brane volume element.

String theory is conformal field theories coupled to the self-induced two dimensional gravitational field. Physically, it describes random surfaces with different extra degrees of freedom, immersed into different ambient spaces. Such objects are frequent in nature. Phase boundaries in critical phenomena or the surfaces of biological membranes are notable examples.

Both string- and M-theory suffer from a proliferation of dimensions and their numerous solutions do not agree with one another. Too many theories mean none of them are right. Nevertheless, it remains a popular theory with lots of interest and research because of its elegance and conventionality.

But what is elegant about a theory that probably requires a new mathematical language? The math may be elegant, but the concepts are unwieldy, even though it solves problems in entropy and black holes. It is a fiction with little predictive value after intense research that stands for the truth, but isn't the truth. It doesn't conform with our experience. Strings can't resolve gravitational interactions without becoming dimensionless points or invoking "supergravity." Supergravity doesn't work at high energy. There are too many loose ends to strings.

In M-theory, the vacuum energy in a 4D brane is cancelled by the integration constants in the solutions. Fine tuning the vacuum energy to the measured value of the cosmological constant today would be even much harder. We can assume a phase of accelerated expansion in the early history of the universe, driven by the vacuum energy of a scalar field rolling down a potential. In a "self tuning universe," particles going backwards in time must adjust the big bang to ensure a more "stable" universe.

21st c. Electrodynamics

Inflation theory remains a mystery. Investigation through corrected electromagnetics requires no extra dimensions. Not a state of nothing, the vacuumis active. Vacuum fluctuations of energy density can lead to the observed cosmological constant. Vacuum energy can also be thought of in terms of virtual particles (also known as zero point vacuum fluctuations) which are created and destroyed out of the vacuum. Their "reality" is evidenced by the Casimir effect.Vacuum fluctuations are always created as particle/antiparticle pairs. But stochastic fields mimic vacuum fluctuation.

In a less-tortured heterodox theory, Tom Bearden's scalar physics, the EM wave in vacuum is longitudinal, and does not consist of EM force fields, contrary to present classical theory. There are no force fields in matter-free space. All that exists in spacetime are spacetime and changes to spacetime.

This theory has no need to resort to hypothetical dark energy or dark matter but does open a Pandora's Box of paranormal potential, discussed in Tom Bearden's Excalibur Briefing. A nondiverged, unaccounted, huge Heaviside energy flow component associated with every EM interaction is responsible for the vexing "missing gravity" known as the "dark matter" problem in astrophysics.

Bearden rejects additional terms, such as extra dimensions, or "dark energy" finding all he needs in a corrected notion of electromagnetics that can potentially be proven on the bench. This spirit links his theoretical and experimental work to alchemy, allowing him to describe a plethora of outrageous transformations.

Bearden contends, the missing gravity may be accounted for by a long-ignored vast amount of unaccounted EM energy in the active vacuum, already present in every EM field and potential interaction. The "scalar" potential is not now and never has been a "scalar" entity. Instead, it is a multiwave, bidirectional longitudinal EM wave flow and EM energy flow entity.

Bidirectional EM flow of energy is reinterpreted with the input energy to the charge coming from the time-domain, and the output energy from the charge being emitted into 3-space, comprises a scalar potential. Scalar EM wave coupling (combining) with longitudinal EM wave coupling, in a harmonic set of phase conjugate pairs, constitutes the scalar EM potential in each and every point in space. This also agrees with quantum field theory. All EM energy in 3-space comes from the time domain. All observables are frozen 3-space snapshots of ongoing 4-space interaction.

"A tiny bit of the impinging EM energy flow “from” the distant source charge is geometrically intercepted and diverted by the observing/detecting point charge to streamline around it, creating a “swirl around” of diverted energy flow. As can be seen, only a tiny portion of the impinging and passing EM energy stream in 3-space is diverged into the swirl. This is rather like a small diverted whirlpool of water forming around a stable rock in a flowing river. In electrodynamics the amount of energy in that “diverged whirlpool” is said to be the “collected” energy appearing upon that point charge (upon that fixed rock). That amount of energy swirled by the intercepting point coulomb at a given point in space, is then erroneously said to be the magnitude of the potential (the magnitude of the entire river). It is no such thing. The small fraction of the potential that is diverted from the potential's flowing rivers of energy, is not that the magnitude of that potential (the magnitude of the entire set of flowing rivers themselves!) And it is certainly not “identically” the river itself! At best it is a measure of the intensity of the potential (the local intensity of all those internal rivers of energy flow) at that point occupied by the intercepting/diverting rock."

Bearden rightly complains, "We may accurately take the mass-free, force-free EM field to be a pattern of spacetime curvatures. The coupling of this spacetime curvature set, or any part of it, with charged mass, then constitutes an EM force field. Again, the problem is the hoary old mechanics notion of having a separate massless force acting upon a separate mass. No such thing exists in all nature, and mechanics should have been rather thoroughly overhauled long ago as a result of this horrendous foundations of mechanics error that is centuries old."

Perhaps relevant to alchemical transformations, science has accepted the present “matter-to-matter transform” approach of present electrodynamics, failing to see that the two missing transforms of matter-to-spacetime and spacetime-to-matter are in fact just general relativity itself. The solution for adding the missing two transforms into electrodynamics therefore may lie in “infolding” general relativity directly within electrodynamics, rather than placing the two on an equal footing.

That requires the analysis of the supersystem rather than the system. It creates the possibility for utilization of the "vacuum engine" that results from this "infolded GR" solution. In GR, the ST geometry itself is active, dynamic, energetic, and structuring! In higher symmetry electrodynamics, the ST geometry itself is powerfully active, dynamic, energetic, and structuring! It is not at all just a "passive spacetime" as classical electrodynamics assumes.

When these two missing transforms are added back into electrodynamics, one has suddenly extended EM theory into a new domain. One has also infolded general relativity (GR) inside the present EM matter-to-matter transforms, and also included the vacuum interaction including broken symmetry in that exchange, but in an electromagnetically engineerable manner. In short, one has a practical, engineerable unified field theory.

The great advantage of a vacuum engine is that the "action" it produces upon an exposed mass, arises directly from within each point in the local spacetime in which the mass is embedded. One does not have to "start outside" and move through space and the intervening mass toward the "inside". Every point within an object occupies every point in time, a priori. From a single time-point, the vacuum engine's 3-space action enters everywhere within the object, all-at-once, and the 3-space effects proceed outward from each interior point.

Therefore even a weak vacuum engine induced by EM forces can do with ridiculous ease what the most powerful particle accelerators on Earth cannot do. The engine is already everywhere "inside" an object or particle, and working from every point in it, toward an outward direction. With weak EM-induced vacuum engines one can do things inside the nucleus such as easily flip quarks inside the nucleons, so that transmutations at very weak spatial energy levels are readily obtained.

This in fact turned out to be the major secret of the low-energy nuclear transmutations occurring in some 600 cold fusion experiments worldwide. We call the exact geometrical form of a vacuum engine a template. We refer to the process of internally structuring a field, wave, or potential as dimensioning or activating or conditioning or charging up the field, wave, or potential. Russian scientists call the infolded structuring itself the information content of the field.

By realizing that ST is identically potential, one has altered one's thinking from the standard GR theory into a correlated EM-GR theory. One has also extended GR: Not only is there a “topology” of things that can be externally done to a base spacetime, but there is also a hidden, vast EM topology within any overall base spacetime. So we now have “topologies within topologies.” This is in fact what the Russians have long called the information content of the field.

Particle physicists have known and shown for more than 40 years that (i) space is a seething inferno of EM energy, (ii) a charge continually undergoes a violent energy exchange with the vacuum EM flux. That exchange is what a charged mass is doing, to make it a "charged mass"), and (iii) the charge is a broken symmetry in that violent energetic flux of the vacuum. "Broken symmetry" means that the charge disrupts and alters part of that virtual particle flux to observable EM energy flux. Again, the structuring of the vacuum engine has no limitation in fineness, because spacetime is continuous. Hence it freely extends from the observable realm on down into the virtual realm. This is no more audacious than stating that virtual and observable entities occupy the same time domain simultaneously. Obviously, if one is using the structuring of time, one gathers in both those virtual structures and those observable structures, and also the exact correlation between them. This is a direct engineering application of an EM hidden variable theory, somewhat similar to that proposed by David Bohm in his holographic theory.

Scalar Healing

All living systems already use this "infolded" bidirectional, longitudinal wavepair EM in their ongoing living functions. Just as they used frequency modulation, EM signals, EM oscillations, etc. before we even had an electrodynamics or a physics, living systems do use the infolded EM (and vacuum engines) in all their living functions, and particularly in their cellular regeneration and restoration (R&R) system, as contrasted to the immune system. The immune system cells are the fighters and the debris scavengers/cleaners. They go after the hostile invaders, fight them, and usually win—littering the battlefield with the debris. Then the immune system scavenger cells clean up the residue.

But many of the body’s cells will have been damaged in the fight. The immune system itself cannot heal or restore a single damaged cell, even its own! It is not a healer ! It is a searcher, a marker, a killer, and a residue-cleaner. All healing/restoration of living cells is done by the R&R system, not by the immune system. The magic “unified field theory” so long sought by scientists, has long been utilized by the regeneration and restoration system of the body in its minute-to-minute and day-to-day healing and restoring actions. The R&R system uses the supersystem, not just the system.

If we could produce the negative (time-reversal) of the sum template of the resident vacuum engine and amplify it, we would have a powerful new type of vacuum engine. It would be an exact vacuum anti-engine to act upon that specific diseased or abnormal condition of the cell and gradually erase the delta and bring the cell physically back to normal. An exact, amplified vacuum antiengine for reversing the precise abnormal condition of the mass, down to and including even the quarks in the atomic nuclei, is formed by time-domain (longitudinal EM biwave) pumping.

The result or “output” is that the entire cellular mass and all its constituent parts are “time-reversed” back along their previous “track through time”, back to a previous normal physical state.The new anti-engine would operate upon all the mass of the cell, at every level no matter how small. It would change the cell’s abnormal genetics back to normal genetics. One could of course reverse cellular damage due to aging, and rejuvenate the body or regenerate any tissue.

This fulfills the ages old alchemical dream, the secret of rejuvination and perhaps immortality as the ambient vacuum also functions as a living memory of all its events. That’s a whole new "subtle physics" reality. Present physics with its assumed quantum observation limitations just has not even gone into it—primarily because physics has been focusing upon the quantized aspects of the photon.

The photon is quantized in one aspect only—its magnetic vector potential—and not in its unquantized aspect—its scalar electrical potential! Physics has rather ignored the unquantized (and therefore continuous from the smallest to the largest scale) time aspect of the photon. All EM fields and waves, being comprised of photons, thus also carry (1) energy and energy internal structuring, and (2) time and internal time structuring. Again, this is the Russian information content of the field.

As an additional proposal, we tentatively suggest that this principle also may be the long-sought "hidden chaos" or "hidden order" in quantum mechanics that is known to be present, but has not yet been explained. Chaos can be characterized with tools of information theory and applications encompassing fluid and celestial mechanics, chemistry and biology.

Information and algorithmic complexity theory applied to chaos and generalization of Lyapunov exponents account for spatiotemporal and non-infinitesimal perturbations. The relation of chaos and information theory is more than purely formal. Redundancy is an important concept in information theory, moreso in algorithmic information theory. The chaos model returned the physical sciences to the ideas of information theory, though Claude Shannon's work predates chaos theory by some two decades. Chaos based modulations can be viewed from an information theory perspective.

Scalar Physics - the Heart of the Matter

A fascinating and deep question about nature is what one would see if one could probe space and time at smaller and smaller distances. Already the 19th-century founders of modern geometry contemplated the possibility that a piece of empty space that looks completely smooth and structureless to the naked eye might have an intricate microstructure at a much smaller scale. Our vastly increased understanding of the physical world acquired during the 20th century has made this a certainty. The laws of quantum theory tell us that looking at spacetime at ever smaller scales requires ever larger energies, and, according to Einstein's theory of general relativity, this will alter spacetime itself: it will acquire structure in the form of "curvature". Dimensionality is turned into a dynamical quantity. Individual points have no physical significance in empty space. Time really scales with the correct fraction of total spacetime volume. The wavefunction of the universe is a function of the scalar factor. The spectral dimension is really the effective dimension of the carrier space. The space-time dimension is scale-dependent. Deriving 4-d spacetime 'from scratch" is an unprecedented result. More detailed information about the shortscale structure of quantum spacetime remains to be extracted. Is there empty space inside particles the same way there is inside atoms? The 'empty space' within and near particles such as electrons and quarks is far more active and complex than in the lower-energy 'empty space' within the boundaries of atoms.

There is no such thing as 'empty space' anywhere in nature. There are only apparent 'voids' that SEEM not to contain matter or energy, but at the level of the quantum world, even 'empty' voids are teeming with activity as particles come and go; created out of quantum fluctuations in any of a variety of fields in nature. Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle all but guarantees the existence of such a dynamic, physical vacuum. Physicists, moreover, have conducted many experiments where the effects of these ghostly, half-real particles can be seen clearly. The level of activity that fills the physical vacuum is set by the energy at which the vacuum is 'observed'.

Within an atom, much of the activity is carried by 'virtual photons' that mediate the electromagnetic force, and by the occasional electron-positron pairs that appear and vanish. At very high energies, and correspondingly small length scales, the vacuum fills up with the comings and goings of even more high energy particles; quarks-antiquarks, gluons-antigluons, muons-antimuons, and a whole host of other particles and their anti-matter twins. WILD BLUE YONDER

There are major theoretical problems that modern physics doesn't handle very well. Our models of the quantum level and cosmology still do not match. Physicists (Goldes, 2005) have recently discovered anomalies that mean the universe contains previously undiscovered particles. The Standard Model is flawed, and we are uncertain how to describe gravity at the smallest scale. Big questions include the nature and types of subatomic particles, virtual particles, antimatter, mass-energy conversion, the nature of time, and the expanding universe.

What are electrons? Why do they exist and how are they made? Why does their structure expand? Are quarks fundamental or composites? There might be undiscovered species of protons and photons. How is a proton or neutron created from electrons? How many dimensions are required to model this emergent process? What is the source and meaning of motion? Is spacetime itself expanding, or every material thing, or maybe both?

Standard theory says space is expanding at a constant rate but space has no mass to move relative to itself. So what force drives the expansion? As the size of the universe expands, rate of growth increases, driving expansion faster. What is the relationship of mass, velocity, distance and time? Time may be relative to velocity.
Cosmic Zip Drive

The dynamic vacuum and its emanations are the unintegrated center of 21st Century physics. Focus is on the threshold where nothing becomes something, the elusive interface of psyche and matter. This light speed target is Zero Point Energy (ZPE), which hints that maybe we can get something for nothing by turning the Void inside out.

Unlike top-down mathematically based quantum theories, Bearden’s bottom-up physics matches our experience of this 4-D universe. Bearden’s vacuum theory also accounts for psychoenergetic phenomena, intentionality, and subtle energies. It is a way universal spirit might enter dense matter, crossing the Mystic Veil, the boundary of the metaphysical and physical.

In1891, Tesla described how the aether “behaves as a fluid to solid bodies, and as a solid to light and heat,” and that under “sufficiently high voltage and frequency,” it could be accessed, implying free-energy and anti-gravity technologies. Channels of least resistance exist to translate from one dimension to the other.

This power resides in an omnipresent infinite sea of negative energy potential. The secret life of subspace reveals an unseen radiant potential living in the resonating gaps of existence. Probability is highest at resonance. The buffeting of the vacuum fluctuation knocks out an observable photon, shifting the quantum gearbox from virtual energy up to quantal level energy. The mystic threshold has been crossed.

Nothing Becomes Something

The microcosm of the living vacuum is a coherent organization of spacetime structure. Time itself is compressed energy. “Free energy” emerges from a strong gradient, a negentropic scalar pump, an eternal fountain of cosmic creative energy. Vacuum fluctuation means observable emissions of light rapidly decay back into their zeropoint and then infinitely repeat the photon emission process. This relentless process is almost hypnotic in its appeal.

But, let’s not just stare transfixed into The Abyss. Bearden reiterates that, “At any point and at any time, one can freely and inexpensively extract enormous EM energy flows directly from the active vacuum itself.” But like understanding this new physics, it is easier said than done. Tom has tried to correct fuzzy thinking by pointing out that zero point energy is not energy from the vacuum.

Massless observable radiant energy is often confused with nonobservable virtual vacuum fluctuation. So, don’t expect to comprehend just how it works right away. Let these notions sink in gradually and take root as the realization of your own essential nature. We have to live into them not just get it conceptually.

Catch the Wave

When is a wave not a wave? When it’s a scalar or energy precursor, point intensity. A scalar potential, like ripples in a pond, either increases or decreases at each and every focal point throughout spacetime, including inside our bodies. Zero-Point Energy (ZPE) is observable; virtual vacuum fluctuation is nonobservable.

Matter boils into and out of existence. In this reiterative process the virtual becomes the observable. Subquantal disordered virtual state fluctuations of the vacuum is the groundstate of existence. Vacuum fluctuation of virtual photons is the universal hum, the OM of the cosmological constant.

“Let there be Light.” Potentials in the vacuum are primordial causal agents creating force fields as effects of their interference during virtual photon flux. Charge emits measurable photon energy. ZPE charge becomes observable emission. Real EM photons (quanta of light) are emitted from that charge and spread into 3-space at light speed.

Coherent integration implies continuous creation from virtual state energy input. Harmonic sets or series of wave/antiwave pairs form the scalar potential. Internally dynamic scalars essentially pump negentropy or increased order and information into existence as energy and/or mass.

In Synergetics, Buckminster Fuller called this cosmic pumping energy Cosmic Zero, described as the nexus of quantum jitterbugging of the Vector Equilibrium Matrix. Forces are enfolded in the vacuum that can be unzipped into manifestation. Artificially produced scalars can affect everything from our minds to the weather. This physics has even been used as a model of paranormal phenomena, healing and clandestine warfare.

Open Sesame of Subspace

Tom Bearden says, “Passage of an electromagnetic wave through the vacuum leaves an invisible trace. The vacuum "imprints" everything that happens in it. This imprint is electrogravitational; i.e., the imprinting process structures the substructure of vacuum spacetime [the artificial potential of vacuum].”

Scalars are described as dynamic quantities, which have magnitude but not direction, like vector waves. The vacuum ground state is not completely empty, but seethes with impermanent virtual particles and fields.

The flow of mass, and our own mass, through time is generated by the ubiquitous interaction of photons with the mass. This is so for both virtual and observable photons. Mass moves through time by integrating virtual photons, and absorption/emission of observable photons/biophotons. The internal dynamic flow of time has infolded sublevels and engines that pump up the quantum field effects to breech the mystic threshold of observability.

Scalars exist only in the vacuum of empty space, including that between our own atoms. Tesla called this form of negative energy, radiant energy. This new physics has been called ether physics, scalar physics, virtual physics, plenum physics, scalar electromagnetics, energetics and psychotronics.

The future isn’t what it used to be in this negative-time reversed paradigm: It is the Bizarro World of materially unstable ghosts, sasquatch, UFOs, ETs, ultraterrestrials, angels, demons, imps, and overunity, which can all bleed into and out of normal reality. The virtual blueprints of everything that ever was or will be, as well as the powers of mind linkage, mass mind control and healing are locked in this universal zip drive.

But the bornless domain of this uberspace isn’t in a parallel dimension, so “where” is it? The potential is “everywhere all the time” at right angles to normal reality, in the orthorotated fabric of subspace. There is quantum crosstalk between being and nonbeing. Ordinary and sometimes nonordinary “things” wiggle through ripples and ruptures in the spacetime manifold.

When massergy enters 3-space, it becomes entropic, while the negentropic potential remains unmanifest as its sustaining force. When negentropy manifests, it’s entropy crosses the mystic veil into nonobservability. The generative signal wave is always negentropic, instantaneously reordering previously scattered energy without requiring input energy.

So, the void isn’t empty. It just doesn’t contain physical matter. To illuminate ourselves, let’s look behind the Mystic Veil between the observable and nonobservable – the truly metaphysical which is literally “beyond physics.”

Metaphysical Ground Zero

The essence of Being is Nonbeing. What IS-IS, but it is undergird by what isn’t. The Heart Sutra insists that all form is inherent in the void, and the void is the root of all form. Ether physics is the science of radiant energy, of virtual particle flux. “Aether” means “shine” in Greek. Light literally matters.

Radiance is the fundamental reality of such an unseen, fluidlike source of universal energy. Thus, it is the hallmark of the world’s secret mystery schools. Greek philosophers such as Pythagoras and Plato discussed it at length. Sanskrit Vedic scriptures call it “prana” and “Akasha,” or “rigpa.”

The Qigong model calls it “chi” or “ki,” or “mana,” with special emphasis placed on its interactions with the human body in martial arts and acupuncture. Adepts of this tradition learn to manipulate energy, allegedly creating miraculous events, such as levitation, teleportation, bilocation, manifestation, instant healing, telepathy and other spiritual powers.

Initiates have stressed the need to “raise your vibrations” for thousands of years. Currently, energy medicine emphasizes holistic self-care of the energy body – the body electric -- for longevity, health and healing. New treatments for the EM fields of the body with low intensity lasers and other forms of coherent light and sound are multiplying. The energetics approach of scalar therapies is touted as the basis of radionics affecting us at the field, quantum and biochemical levels.

The mindbody is electronic, but it is rooted in the scalar luminosity of its invisible ground. Living systems are very sensitive to changes in tiny energy fields and resonance phenomena, both locally and remotely. Imbalances can lead to degenerative disease that can be corrected through Energy Medicine.

In this nonlocal model, bioenergetic distance healing is possible through pumping additional energy into the system, creating resonance and modulating electrically charged molecules. Any kind of field can be turned into any other kind of field by precise time synchronization. Healers use the Quantum Vacuum (QV) to facilitate order and coherence as a preventive measure.

Healing is a self-organizing emergent process. Our experiences become embodied in our structure, emotions and behaviors. Correcting imbalances and distortions in the energy field facilitates harmonization of subsystems, allowing the cells to work together, instantaneously and symphonically.

Fierce Luminosity

All biological processes are a function of electromagnetic field interactions. EM fields are the connecting link between the world of form and resonant patterns. EM fields embody or store gestalts, patterns of information. Biochemical action and bioelectronic action meet at the quantum-junction.

The body is both formed by and generates bioscalars and biophotons that both condition and signal its health. Our two brain hemispheres constitute natural scalar interferometers (or “engines”) actuating scalar fields. These fields possibly couple to the subtle anatomy of the body like chakras, acupuncture meridians or fields of the heart.

Our bodies are essentially “frozen light” as is everything else. This light is transduced from the vacuum by the holographic blueprint of our DNA, which acts as a cymatic projector employing biophotonic light and creative sound (phonons) to read and manifest our genetic code. (Gariaev; Miller).
The distinction between a living and nonliving system is simply the fact that the living system deterministically uses the inner EM energy channels inside scalar potentials. And those EM potentials are centered on the atomic nuclei of atoms comprising the living system's molecules, cells, tissues, and mass.

The mind/brain/body problem can only be solved by looking at this interior energetics, or we will never understand life, memory, personality or thought. The vacuum potential, a hidden internal EM energy channel, is the primary channel of biological control as well as human intent.
“Now you see it; now you don’t,” in the transitory world of the cosmic House of Mirrors. Disordered virtual energy can be turned into ordered observable EM energy. Matter is a small ripple on the seething ocean of virtual energy potential. Running On Empty

"Every charge in the universe already freely and continuously pours out EM energy in 3-space in all directions, without any observable EM energy input. That is the well-concealed source charge problem, known but ignored by the leaders of the scientific community for a century.” ~Tom Bearden

The universe feeds on time. It exists by continuously extracting EM energy from the vacuum. Wave-like scalar potential stresses and curves or warps spacetime. Superposition of bidirectional waves gives rise to a standing wave or stationary wave, which still fluctuates up-and-down in potential. A system on which a standing wave precisely fits is called a resonant system.

What appears as empty space actually is a dynamic domain of immensely coherent and radiant “zero-point energy.” Scalars are ripples in the fabric of spacetime itself. Matter is a small wave or ripple on the top of this cosmic ocean and life is an even rarer form.

As electromagnetic beings, we naturally tap the negentropic potential of our source field. We share that essence. Our bodies are complex modulations of frequencies embedded in greater fields of modulation. We are standing waves in spacetime.

ZERO POINT is never directly observed as physical experience. This is reflected, perhaps, in mystical thought by the occult axiom, "I am Isis; no man hath lifted my veil." We can see no deeper into nature than fluctuating fields of energy, which constitute the constant background motion. All that is, is in motion. But it is sustained by the ground state or “cosmic zero.” Random scalar energy is always present in the environment.

The Root of Negative Existence

Qabalah describes the emanation of all and everything from the Three Veils of Negative Existence: Ain, Ain Soph, and Ain Soph Aur. It describes the archetypal, mental, emotional and physical bodies of mankind from this energetic foundation. Qabalist, Paul Foster Case described it, metaphysically:

“Zero is a symbol of the absence of quality, quantity, or mass. Thus it denotes absolute freedom from every limitation whatever. It is a sign of the infinite and eternal Conscious Energy, itself No-Thing, though manifest in everything. It is That which was, is, and shall be forever; but it is nothing we can name. Boundless infinitely potential, living light, it is the rootless root of all things, of all activities, of all modes of consciousness. In it are included all imaginable and unimaginable possibilities, but it transcends them all. The Qabalists call it: (a) No-Thing; (b) The Boundless; (c) Limitless Light. Pure Conscious Energy, above and beyond thought, to us it is Superconsciousness.”
Psychologically, the vacuum symbolizes the distinction between primordial awareness and the phenomena of mind. Empty awareness facilitates resonance with refreshing cosmic patterning. It allows us to go offline to the phenomenal and “reboot” our systems by drawing on the eternally nourishing source of our being.

In more current terms, organized systems exhibit resonances. Resonances lead to synchronized oscillations, harmonized systems. Oscillations represent time cycles during which changes may be introduced. Such changes may dampen or amplify the existing oscillations. Alternatively, they may create new resonances and excite new sets of oscillations. The more complex the system, the greater the likelihood of introducing change into the system during any given cycle. Hence the exponential growth of order or information.

Dimensionless virtual/actual particles vibrate across time, forming two-dimensional waves. Interaction of these waves creates holograms, which oscillate across time in various geometric shapes. In turn, they move about in all four dimensions like invisible ductwork energy tunnels. As shaped energy becomes increasingly ordered into evolving patterns of evolving patterns, it begins to manifest electromagnetically as matter.

Remembering the Future

In the past couple of decades, virtual particle flux has gained scientific acceptance, becoming less mysterious. Potentials can have observable effects on charges even when no fields are present. The potentials are the cause and the fields are the effects. Bearden says, “A longitudinal wave is a time density oscillation,” vibrating in the time domain with zero frequencies. Subtle energies check and balance one another in null summation.

Oscillations of the local curvature of spacetime were originally described by Nikola Tesla and Paul Dirac. British physicist Dirac called the vacuum a seething ocean of infinite energy potential, but Tesla engineered applications of non-Hertzian electric waves for wireless transmission. Real world EM vector fields can be assembled by interfering scalar potentials, and likewise, scalar fields are created by destructively interfering vector fields in a nonlinear medium.

Technological applications engineer the primordial vacuum, which is called subspace or hyperspace, whether you take a bottom-up engineering view or top-down mathematical view. Like the matter/antimatter polarity, time also has a negative flow, time reversal.
When we dive deeper than the microphysical level of the frequency domain, only the time domain remains, and dynamics become enfolded. Negative frequency equals time reversal. Zero-time is the reference point of our 4-D existence. The universe is a rogue wave pumped up from zero to macroscopic proportions.

Nothing Doing

“When it appears in the seething vacuum, and while it fleetingly exists, a particle (such as a photon) is totally ordered. Although the entire vacuum or a large region of it statistically is disordered, each individual temporary virtual particle is totally ordered while it fleetingly exists.” ~Tom Bearden

The modern vacuum is a fiercely bubbling inferno of fleeting particles. The vacuum has no fixed lengths or rate of time flow, per se. The stress of the vacuum is a sort of conglomerate potential “pressure,” where the individual stresses of various types of particles, if integrated by external means, sum into the overall stress (pressure). Variation of the stress of vacuum between two points in a frame represents a “curved spacetime” or “accelerated frame.”

The stress energy of the vacuum means “fragments” of energy, more subtle than electromagnetic energy, turn against themselves and lock into a “vector zero summation.” Two out-of-phase waves travel together as a zero-vector pair; the component waves are “in-phase spatially, out-of-phase in the time dimension”.

One of the two waves in each pair is a time-reversed or phase-conjugate wave, a coupled longitudinal EM wave/antiwave pair forming a scalar (time-polarized) wave for that interacting fraction. Time is energy compressed by a factor of c-squared. So it has the same energy density as mass. This zero-point energy of the vacuum is an incredibly dense structure of virtual electromagnetic energy, even at zero degrees absolute.

Summary: In a continuous creation, the center of the universe is everywhere and it is a seething cauldron of potential. Everything, every thing, manifests from the temporal interaction with the local nonlinear vacuum of spacetime. The interaction of time and negative time extracts massergy from the limitless ocean of roiling subspace. It manifests the temporal potential of force and form in each and every instant at each and every point of being and our being and becoming.
Finding Your Zero-Point

Hopefully, in the future, the new paradigm of scalar physics will be employed for the benefit of humanity. All that is universal is contained in our human essence for we are not separate from that, or one another, or our environment. We are all embedded in the unified cosmic field. All lifeforms are multidimensional virtual vacuum engines.

Mathematician, Charles Muses describes the nature of our embodiment: “Actually our bodies are like fountains. The fountain has a shape only because it's being renewed every minute, and our bodies are being renewed. So we are standing waves; we are no exception.” [virtual dipoles].

Visualizations, such as the qabbalistic Middle Pillar Exercise are designed to pump negentropy, as a fountain of light, into the practitioner. It is a means of bringing free energy into our systems for quantum wellness. Such meditations help us recalibrate ourselves from our own personal zero point or renewable energy.

Muses describes time as the master controller that cuts through the entire physical universe and holds all of space together, though not necessarily in each point of space. Time is, therefore, bigger than space. Wisdom traditions contend there is a fundamental unity between the universal mind and the cosmos itself -- including the unfolding of time.

Certain ancient and modern spiritual technologies are said to confer extraordinarily longer lifespans on their practitioners. Often yogis, lamas and masters appear far younger than their chronological age. They attribute these youthful qualities to their meditation practice. To meditate is a regenerative therapy in which we “die daily” into the unconditioned state and are instantaneously reborn anew.
Trauma locks up energies in the body, and the self image can become "frozen" and inhibit growth of the personality. This image can be de-structured or liquefied, eliminating the old holographic pattern, and returning all elements to a chaotic state. From this chaos, the new image automatically emerges in regenerated form. This death/rebirth is healing, and may be the mechanism of the placebo effect.

Self-image is locked up in identification with a multi-sensory image of self. It conditions the body and its state of health. The process of detachment from one's body, emotions, thoughts, and even the notion of self is a way of dis-identifying with the old outworn model, and creating a nonlocalized impression of oneself as identical with universal consciousness.

Healing is the psychophysical equivalent of creativity. Creativity is embodied inspiration and imagination. To the extent we intentionally commune with the source of infinite peace, love, health, bounty, and oneness we encourage their manifestation in outer reality.

The stability of matter itself is mediated by zero-point fluctuations (ZPF) of the electromagnetic field. In each and every nano-instant, we a reborn at the birthplace of matter, much like a refreshing screen and therefore have the potential to reform utterly, instantaneously. There is infinite healing potential in the undifferentiated creative energy, radiant wholeness.
What Makes Time Matter

Instantaneous Tempic Potential

In a continuous creation, the center of the universe is everywhere and it is a seething cauldron of potential. Everything, every thing, manifests from the temporal interaction with the local nonlinear vacuum of spacetime. The interaction of time and negative time extracts massergy from the limitless ocean of roiling subspace. It manifests the temporal potential of force and form in each and every instant at each and every point of being and our being and becoming.

Zero-Point expert, Thomas Bearden describes time as “spatial EM energy compactified by the speed of light squared.” Time, therefore, has the same energy density as mass, but in the unobservable time domain, rather than the observable 3-space domain. Time embodies persistence itself – duration.

The “frozen snapshots” of observable physics have excluded or merely implied this dimensionality of time by invoking memory. But since time is energetic, it has a energy density and potential force, which can be tapped. Empty space is highly energetic. Nikola Tesla stated in 1891 that the aether “behaves as a fluid to solid bodies, and as a solid to light and heat,” and that under “sufficiently high voltage and frequency,” it could be accessed, implying free-energy and anti-gravity technologies.

The flow of mass, and our own mass, through time is generated by the ubiquitous interaction of photons with the mass. This is so for both virtual and observable photons. Mass moves through time by integrating virtual photons, and absorption/emission of observable photons/biophotons. The internal dynamic flow of time has infolded sublevels and engines that pump up the quantum field effects to breech the mystic threshold of observability.

What Time Is It?

Scalar EM wave vibrations occur in the time domain only. This longitudinal EM wave is called a “scalar” photon in QM, so long as it remains in subspace or hyperspace. The nonobservable scalar photon is the main operator of Quantum Field Theory (QFT). The combination of the scalar and longtudinal photon is observable as the instantaneous scalar potential. It reveals the threshold of manifestation – unfolding spacetime.

When massergy enters 3-space, it becomes entropic, while the negentropic potential remains unmanifest as its sustaining force. When negentropy manifests, it’s entropy crosses the mystic veil into nonobservability. The generative signal wave is always negentropic, instantaneously reordering previously scattered energy without requiring input energy. Emergent continuous creation.

Time moves forward (retarded wave) as our perceptions verify, but reversed-time advanced waves are enfolded in the energy-density of compactified spacetime. This dual wave system, namely concentric, divergent and retarded on the one hand, convergent, and advanced on the other hand ensure that data circulates both ways. The advanced wave brings information in from the entire universe. The retarded wave conveys information outward.

In Cramer’s Transactional Interpretation of QM, a standing wave in spacetime is set up by a superposition of advanced and retarded waves, equivalent to the Copenhagen ``collapse of the state vector''. This backward reaching handshake of the future to the past completes the transaction. The quantum measurement process happens ”when” the transaction is finished. This happens over a spacetime interval; not a time of collapse, only to an interval of collapse (consistent with relativity). Signals (t and –t) are sent from the future to the past by quantum particles.

Time-polarized EM waves accompany all logitudinal EM waves. Pumping a living organism with longitudinal EM waves also pumps it with time-polarized EM waves, adding a positive time-charge which persists once the longitudinal EM wave radiation is removed.
Space Time Reversal

Reversed time is virtual or imaginary time. The relevant order of events is more important than the direction of time itself. Things happen within intervals of time. Without massergy, there is no spacetime in this universe. Mass energy and spacetime emerge simultaneously. Continuity follows because there is no physical instant or progression of time, only uncertain intervals, as wave/particle duality hints.

In his Scale Expanding Cosmos model, Masreliez postulates that the universe is constantly and incrementally changing scale, but the increase is imperceptible because the change in space metrics is accompanied by a corresponding change in the metric of time. For those who inhabit the universe, things remain the same.

Everything expands at the same pace. The universe expands by changing the scale of both space and time. When space expands, the pace of time slows down. This four dimensional scale expansion is the impellor of time and probably perturbs space. Kaivarainin states, “The pace of time for any closed system is determined by pace of kinetic energy change of this system. The time oscillation (temporal field) is shown to be related in coherent way to oscillation of electromagnetic and gravitational fields.”

Bearden states, “the resident spacetime curvature engine in the mass if amplified and phase conjugated, forms a precise, amplified antiengine which then slowly time-reverses the mass back to a previous physical condition and state.” However, he cautions that, “time reversing a single object or single group of objects is not the same as scifi “travel into the past.” For that, the entire universe and everything in it – except the traveler – would have to be time-reversed.

Still, “time-reversal of a single thing such as a particle or wave – or even a group of things such as a group of particles or waves – is not only feasible but is readily achievable,” in a zone (TRZ) where interactions with antiphotons predominate. Vacuum pumps and vacuum engines can be identified in nature.

Ordinary electrons are in a positive energy condition, so the vacuum of spacetime is a vast ocean of negative electronic energy conditions for electrons to sink into and essentially ‘disappear’. If positive energy is added to the vacuum, electrons may also be lifted from the Dirac Sea, creating a flow from the nonlinear vacuum.

The Dynamic Nature of Time

Kozyrev (1967) was among the first to experiment with a dynamical theory of time. The exact sciences negate the existence in time of any other qualities other than the simplest quality of "duration" or time intervals. This quality of time is similar to the spatial interval. The theory of relativity by Einstein made this analogy more profound, considering time intervals and space as components of a four-dimensional interval of a Minkowski universe.

Only the pseudo-Euclidian nature of the geometry of the Minkowski universe differentiates the time interval from the space interval. Under such a conception, time is scalar (scalar = weight) and quite passive. It only supplements the spatial arena, against which the events of the universe are played out.

"Causal" or "asymetrical" mechanics should be be realizable experience, indicating where the cause is and where the result is. It can be demonstrated that in statistical mechanics there is a directivity of time and that it satisfies our desires. In reality, statistical mechanics constructs a certain bridge between natural and theoretical mechanics.

In reality, the directivity of time signifies a pattern continuously existing in time, which, acting upon the material system, can cause it to transfer to an equilibrium state. Under such a consideration, the events should occur not only in time, but also with the aid of time. Time becomes an active participant in the universe, eliminating the possibility of thermal death. Then, we can understand harmony of life and death, which we perceive as the essence of our world.

Causality is linked in the closest way with the properties of time, specifically with the difference in the future and the past. Time possesses a quality, creating a difference in causes from effects, which can be evoked by directivity or pattern. This property determines the difference in the past from the future.

Cause is always outside of the body in which the result is realized and the result sets in after the cause. Causes and results are always separated by space. Therefore, between them exists an arbitrarily small, but not equaling zero, spatial difference.

In atomic mechanics, just the opposite takes place. In it, the principle of impenetrability loses its value and, based on the possibility of the superposition of fields. The influence upon the system of a macroscopic body, i.e., they devise, introduces a difference between the future and the past, because the future proves predictable, while the past is not. Therefore, in the temporal environs of the experiment it is not = to 0, although it can be arbitrarily small. In this manner, classical mechanics and atomic mechanics enter into our axiomatics as two extreme systems.

The rate of the transition of the cause to the effect is accomplished through the "empty" point, where there are no material bodies and there is only space and time. Hence, the value C can be associated only with properties of time and space, not with the properties of bodies.

The conversion of the cause to an effect requires the overcoming of the "empty" point in space. This point is an abyss, the transition through which can be realized only with the aid of the time pattern. From this, there follows directly the active participation of time in the process of the material systems. C is not a scalar value but a pseudo-scalar value: i.e., a scalar changing sign in the case of the mirror image or inversion of the coordinate system [Bearden’s Negative Time].

The time pattern should be determined in relation to a certain invariant. Such an invariant, independent of the properties of matter, can be only space. The absolute value of the time pattern is obtained when the absolute difference in the future and the past will be linked with the absolute difference in the properties of space.

In space there are no differences in directions, but there is an absolute difference between right and left, although these concepts per se are quite tentative. Therefore, the time pattern also should be established by a value having the sense of a linear velocity of turning (rotation). From this it follows that C cannot equal the speed of light, C comprising the conventional scalar. From the pseudo-scalar properties of the time pattern, there immediately follows the basic theorem of causal mechanics.

A world with an opposite time pattern is equivalent to our world, reflected in a mirror. In a world reflected by a mirror, causality is completely retained. Therefore, in a world with an opposite time pattern the events should develop just as regularly as in our world. It is erroneous to think that, having run a movie film of our world in a reverse direction, we would obtain a pattern of the world of an opposite time direction.

We can in no way formally change the sign in the time intervals. This leads to a disruption of causality: i.e., to an absurdity, to a world which cannot exist. In a variation of the directivity of time, there should also become modified the influences, which the time pattern exerts upon the material system.

Therefore, the world reflected in a mirror should differ in its physical properties from our world. However, classical mechanics confirms the identity of these worlds. Up until recent times, this identity was assumed in quantum mechanics and was said to be the law of the preservation of parity.

However, studies by Lie and Young of the nuclear processes during weak interactions led to the experiments, having demonstrated the erroneous position of this law. This result is quite natural under the actual existence of time directivity, which is confirmed by the direct experiments.

This asymmetry can be not only a passive result of the laws of nature, reflecting the time directivity. Most likely, under a definite asymmetry, corresponding to the given time pattern, an organism acquires an additional viability: i.e., it can use it for the reinforcement of life processes.

It is possible that specially formulated biological experiments will be able to prove directly that life actually uses the time pattern as an additional source of energy. At these points cause and effect should have opposite signs, meaning that there should also be an opposite orientation of the perpendicular plane.

It turns out that the time pattern of our world is positive in a levorotary system of coordinates. From this, we are afforded the possibility of an objective determination of left and right; the left-hand system of coordinates is said to be that system in which the time progress is positive, while the right- hand system is one in which it is negative. In this manner, the time progress linking all of the bodies in the world, even during their isolation, plays the role of that material bridge.

The rotation alters the possibility of this inflow, and, as a result, the time pattern can create additional stresses in the system. The additional stresses alter the potential and the full energy of the system. These variations produce the time pattern. From this it follows that time has energy. Since the additional forces are equal and are directed oppositely, the pulse of the system does not vary. This signifies that time does not have a pulse, although it possesses energy.

The infinite pattern of time can in no way be altered. Therefore, time proves to be an imparted fate and invincible force. However, the actual time has a finite pattern and can be effective, and this signifies that the principle of time can be reversible.

Newtonian mechanics correspond to a world with infinitely stable causal causal relationships. Quantum mechanics represent another critical case of a world with infinitely real causal relationships. The theoretical concepts expounded here are basically necessary only in order to know how to undertake the experiments in the study of the properties of time.

The single universal constant, which can have the meaning of a pseudo-scalar, is the Planck constant, h. In reality, this constant has the dimensionality of a moment of a quantity of motion and determines the spin of elementary particles. Now, utilizing the Planck constant in any scalar universal constant, it is necessary to obtain a value having the dimensionality of velocity.

The possibility of communications through time will probably help to explain not only the features of biological relationship but also a number of puzzling phenomena of the physics of man -- biophysics. Perhaps instinctive knowledge, even telepathy, is obtained specifically in this manner. All these relationships are not shielded and hence have the property for the transmission of influences through time.

Further observations indicate that in the causal-resultant dipoles a complete compensation of the effect of its poles does not take place. Obviously, in the process there occurs the absorption or output of certain qualities of time. Therefore, the effect of the process could be observed without a preliminary excitation of the system.

The force fields transmitting the influences should be regarded as a system of discrete, non-overlapping points. This finding is linked with the general philosophical principal of the possibility of cognition of the world. For the possibility of at least a marginal cognition, the combination of all material objects should be a calculated set: i.e., it should represent a discrete state, being superimposed on the continuum of space.

Among the most important results are the conclusions concerning the finiteness of the time pattern, the possibility of partial reversal of the causal relationships, and the possibility of obtaining work owing to the time pattern.

Kozyrev’s tests (1967) proved the existence of the effects through time of one material system upon another. This effect does not transmit a pulse (momentum), meaning it does not propagate but appears simultaneously in any material system.

In this manner, in principle it proves possible to have a momentary relationship and a momentary transmission of information. Time accomplishes a relationship between all phenomena of nature and participates actively in them.

Organized systems exhibit resonances. Resonances lead to oscillations. Oscillations represent time cycles during which changes may be introduced. Such changes may dampen or amplify the existing oscillations. Alternatively, they may create new resonances and excite new sets of oscillations. The more complex the system, the greater the likelihood of introducing change into the system during any given cycle. Hence the exponential growth of information.

From these quantum energy-metaphors we have now also found a more efficient way of imagining how energy takes on its 3-dimensional shape as it moves through the temporal dimension of our reality: Dimenionless virtual/actual particles vibrate across time, forming two-dimensional waves, which oscillate across time in various geometric shapes, which in turn move about in all four dimensions like invisible duct-work energy tunnels.

As shaped energy becomes increasingly ordered into evolving patterns of evolving patterns, it begin to electromagnetically manifest as matter.

Revisioning Process-oriented Time, Space, Matter & Gravity

Process physics is a reformulation of key concepts to include quantized space. Process-oriented science a radical information theoretic approach to the modeling of fundamental physics. It aims to be a theory of everything by abandoning the space-time construct of Galileo, Newton and Einstein, and by arguing that time can only be modeled as a process. Process physics uses a process model of time rather than a geometrical model. It includes differences in past, present and future not derivable from the geometric model.

Time in process physics is modelled as an iterative process, where each iteration is like the next present moment. Due to the randomness present in the iterative equation, the future is not completely predictable. Also it is not possible to perform the inverse operation, meaning you cannot go backwards to the previous moments. Process physics thus predicts a static past, a continually changing present moment, and an unpredictable future - all of which is consistent with how we experience the passage of time.

Randomness Paradigm

Randomness is more fundamental than objects. Expanding space isn't empty but full of topological defects, like snags in the fabric of space that share nonlocality -- linked by transient wormholes. Matter emerges into 3-d view while simultaneously concealing its virtual origin through self-organizing criticality (SOC). Process physics eliminates infinite regression while generating a complete theory of quantum measurements.

Quantum phenomena are caused by fractal topological defects embedded in and forming a growing three-dimensional fractal process-space, which is essentially a quantum foam. Other features of the emergent physics were: quantum field theory with emergent flavour and confined colour, limited causality and the Born quantum measurement metarule, inertia, time-dilation effects, gravity and the equivalence principle, a growing universe with a cosmological constant, black holes and event horizons, and the emergence of classicality.

Process Physics suggests a hierarchical model of reality featuring a Universe that exhibits behavior very reminiscent of living systems. How should we categorize space? Is it a `thing' or is it a `process'? From at least the early Greeks to the present day this question has been examined again and again, but has remained unanswered. However some recent discoveries have cast a new light on this essential core of existence, and the experimental evidence is strongly indicating that modern day physics has got it very wrong. Is reality a side-effect of randomness?

Absolute Motion

Space has internal structure. Space and quantum physics are emergent and unified, and described by a Quantum Homotopic Field. This structure is described as a network of nodal points with connections between nodes of varying strength. Space has a foamy quantum structure. The speed of absolute motion is comparable to that determined from the Cosmic Background Radiation anisotropy, but the direction is not revealed. So absolute motion is meaningful and measureable, thus refuting Einstein's assumption. This discovery shows that a major re-assessment of the interpretation of the Special and General Relativity formalism is called for, a task already provided by Process Physics.

Self-Organizing Iterative Seed Process

Reality can be modelled as self-organizing semantic or relational information using a self-referentially limited neural network model (trees of self-referential strong connections), where the information-theoretic limitations are implemented via self-referential noise, a fundamental aspect of reality. This modelling was motivated by the discovery that such stochastic neural networks are foundational to known quantum field theories.

In Process Physics time is a distinct non-geometric process while space and quantum physics are emergent and unified. Quantum phenomena are caused by fractal topological defects embedded in and forming a growing three-dimensional fractal process-space, which is essentially a quantum foam.

Embedded topological defects act as sinks for aether flow, i.e. ordinary matter. Reasonably, another set of embedded topological defects stabilized out of the initial chaos with the complementary property that they act as sources of aether flow. By producing aether, those sources would effectively move away from everything else and could thereby drive the Hubble expansion.

Sets of strongly linked nodes persist and become further linked by the iterator to form a three-dimensional process space with embedded topological defects. In this way the stochastic neural-network creates stable strange attractors while determining their interaction properties. This information is all internal to the system; it is the semantic information within the network.

Other features are the emergence of quantum field theory with flavour and confined colour, limited causality and the Born quantum measurement metarule, inertia, time-dilation effects, gravity and the equivalence principle, a growing universe with a cosmological constant, black holes and event horizons, and the emergence of classicality. The unification of the quantum foam structure of space with the quantum nature of matter amounts to the discovery of quantum gravity.

Quantum Gravity

Gravity is apparently an aspect of space which has gone through various possible explanations, from the force concept by Newton, as expressed in his famous inverse square law, to Einsteins curved spacetime formalism. However experiment and observations suggest that both of these explanations are seriously flawed. Both are in strong disagreement with observation.

Both the Newtonian and General Relativity theories for gravity may be re-formulated as turbulent in-flow dynamics in which a substratum is effectively absorbed by matter, with the gravitational force determined by inhomogeneities of that flow. Gravity is an inhomogeneous flow of quantum foam into matter.
Quantum gravity, as manifested in the emergent Quantum Homotopic Field Theory of the process-space or quantum foam, is logically prior to the emergence of the general relativity phenomenology, and cannot be derived from it. Gravity is essentially an in-flow effect associated with the loss of information.

Matter & Mass

Matter is described as topological defects in three dimensional space that have the ability to become persistent by preserving the pattern of its links over many iterations. Matter is embedded in three dimensional space but is essentially made of the same thing as space. It moves by re-linking preferentially in the direction of travel and losing links more often in the opposite direction to travel. The pattern therefore appears to move relative to the underlying fabric of space and to other matter. Once the movement has started then it will become self sustaining requiring no more energy to continue. Any change in direction to its passage through space would be resisted, which manifests itself as inertia.

The topological defect nature of matter means it has more links than normal space. This would produce the effect of using up more links than the space surrounding it meaning that space would effectively sink into matter. This is speculated as the reason behind gravity where the space between masses would effectively shrink making the masses become closer together. The masses would not move as such but the distance between them would get smaller.

This also explains why a free falling body does not seem to experience a force while accelerating due to gravity towards a more massive body. This however goes against general relativity as the gravitational effect would be instantaneous rather than effect at a distance at the speed of light. An experiment to measure the speed of gravity would go a long way in establishing if general relativity or process physics is closer to reality.

Dark Matter Effect

The galactic `dark matter' effect is regarded as one of the major problems in fundamental physics. Process physics explains it as a self-interaction dynamical effect of space itself, not caused by an unknown form of matter. So-called `dark matter' networks revealed via weak gravitational lensing are caused by quantum-foam vortex filaments, and that the `frame-dragging' effect is caused by vorticity in the in-flow.

This leads to the new phenomenon of gravitational attractors. By analysing the borehole data this new constant is shown to be the fine structure constant alpha = e^2/h-bar*c ~ 1/137. The spiral galaxy `dark matter' effect and the globular cluster central `black hole' masses for M15 and G1 are then predicted.

The Process Physics theory of space is non-local and we see many parallels between this and quantum theory, in addition to the fine structure constant manifesting in both, so supporting the argument that space is a quantum foam system, as implied by the deeper information-theoretic theory known as Process Physics. The spatial dynamics also provides an explanation for the `dark matter' effect and as well the non-locality of the dynamics provides a mechanism for generating the uniformity of the universe, so explaining the cosmological horizon problem.

Data shows that both Newtonian gravity and General Relativity are also seriously flawed, and a new theory of gravity explains various so-called gravitational `anomaliesÌ, including the `dark matter' effect. The new `quantum-foam in-flow' theory of gravity has explained numerous so-called gravitational anomalies, particularly the `dark matter' effect which is now seen to be a dynamical effect of space itself, and whose strength is determined by the fine structure constant, and not by Newton's gravitational constant G. The emergent theory of gravity has two gravitational constants: G - Newton's constant, and a dimensionless constant. Various experiments and astronomical observations have shown that this constant is the fine structure constant: 1/137.

There is a detectable local preferred frame of reference. A new theory of gravity is necessary that results in an explanation of the `dark matter' effect. The fine structure constant is a 2nd gravitational constant. A new theory of gravity predicts, however, a second and much larger `frame-dragging' or vorticity induced spin precession. This spin precession component will also display the effects of novel gravitational waves which are predicted by the new theory of gravity, and which have already been seen in several experiments.

A theory of 3-space explains the phenomenon of gravity as arising from the time-dependence and inhomogeneity of the differential flow of this 3-space. Turbulence in the flow amounts to gravitational waves. The new dynamical `quantum foam' theory of 3-space is described at the classical level by a velocity field. This has been repeatedly detected and the dynamical equations are now established. These equations predict 3-space `gravitational wave' effects, and these have been observed, and the 1991 DeWitte data is analysed to reveal the fractal structure of these `gravitational waves'. .

Consciousness or Nostalgia for the Divine?

There's something about Nothing. It is popular to equate scalar fields with consciousness, and I've probably implied as much in the past. But now we are thinking it is a deeper domain and exploring that notion.

We tend to divinize the threshold of our own penetration into fine structure, but once we 'get it' it is just another functional operator, NOT any primal cause. This is a difficult line to walk, which may have more to do with human beliefs than the structure of reality itself. The so-called 'consciousness studies' experts are often hopeless at physics, relying on personal vision, philosophy, professional reputation in related areas, and competetive intellectual turf wars.

The whole arena has been the source of much confusion as much on the 'inside' as for the onlooking public. Having watched the discussions for years, I can report hardly any consensus. Conscious 'awareness' and self-reflection is a whole other subject where both biological and metaphysical speculation is rife.

Mostly, it is probably a new age cultural MEME we find enticing as a replacement for older models of the sacred. We just keep pushing that boundary back further and further. There is likely no even approximate way to describe anything like consciousness in action for quite some time. But there will be many theories with "hooks" and "buzzwords", such as intentionality, which may or may not have any bearing. They capture our attention and imagination.

They describe our current fantasies about Reality and embody our hopes and desires for some Divine Agency beyond our puny selves. The deep nature of reality is awesome, but there may not be any 'ghost in the machine' in terms of the standards of past historical epochs. All this is more bound up with trends in pop cultural and human beliefs and needs than subquantal physics. To presume otherwise may be painfully naive, and obscure the nature of Nature and our own nature, rather than revealing it. Still, the mystical analogies can be made.

In any case, whatever is going on, virtually or physically, we are THAT, of the same stuff as Cosmos. How we apply that knowledge is probably as important as how we interpret it. Scientists are not lining up at The Church of the Holy Scalar Field.

Radiant wholeness and the energetic Field of Being

EMPTY AWARENESS

The groundstate of our being is a psionically-charged FIERCE LUMINOSITY emanating from the vast roiling ocean of the creative vacuum – the endless sea of creation. What IS is, and the primal matrix is the eternal shimmering, full vacuum of space -- IS-ness. Light is an excitation of empty space. The absolute vacuum is devoid of all structure, but the false vacuum contains frozen energies as photons, bosons, quarks, electrons and gravity.

Both mysticism and science describe the nature of deep reality in their different vocabularies. They have Nothing in common. Science itself appears somewhat mystical when we realize that we don’t really know the nature of spacetime, gravity, light, electricity, magnetism, energy and mass (and antimatter) or the origin of our universe, but we have sometimes cherished beliefs about how they behave.

In each and every nano-instant, we are reborn at the birthplace of matter, much like a refreshing screen. We are virtual dipoles capable of integrating coherent virtual energy from the vacuum and transducing it into usable EM energy. Electrically, this is called an "open path." This is our field body, or energetic form. All atoms, including those of our bodies, are 99.999% space with an accompanying informational content (holographic blueprint).

The quantum vacuum is a dynamic massless scalar field. A scalar is a vector characterized by magnitude and time. Scalar waves (virtual particle flux wave) in the virtual state massless charge flux do not breach the quantum level to become observable, yet they are real. They are harmonic oscillations of the stress energy tensor of the vacuum. They cross the threshold of manifestation only briefly before they vanish.

In the vacuum state everything is disintegrated, but highly dynamic. The vacuum is not an emptiness filled with massless charge, rather, it IS identically massless charge (disintegrated dynamicism). Though no real particles are present, it is a plenum, not an emptiness. It is also pure, undifferentiated action.

A curious thing has happened along the way to a Theory of Everything, which is that physics is taking a more and more mystical attitude in its descriptors of what remains essentially a great Mystery. This mystery is compounded when we attempt to apply physics theories to biological organisms, including ourselves – the realm of biophysics.

Empty Awareness: Into the Mystic

In modern life, many are seeking meaning in both a deeper physical and spiritual understanding. The distinction is blurring as our understanding deepens. Mystics of all religions have probed the deep nature of reality for millennia by looking within themselves. They have found many reflections of the universe and the Void within in a mental vacuum state.

There is only one mind. We call it Universal Mind, or the Diamond Matrix. Like the Dirac Sea, it is likened to an ocean of potential. In the perennial philosophy, sacred truth says universal mind permeates everything throughout the whole universe. It is an unobservable infinite energy field – a sparkling, radiant diamond-expanse.

This diamond-like clarity of truth unveiled is perceptible through meditation, wisdom, inspiration, creativity and genius. It is the source of Knowledge, gnosis. There is tremendous spiritual potential in emptyness. There is a correlation, if not identity, between the vacuum within of contemplatives and the vacuum without of science.

In Qabalah, it correlates with The Abyss and the three Veils of Negative Existence – Ain, Ain Soph, and Ain Soph Aur. It is the time-energy pump of manifestation, siphoning negative time from the virtual vacuum. The Abyss is the relative vacuum and the Three Veils of Negative Existence are the absolute vacuum in Qabalah.

Dissolving old forms allows for self-organizing rebirth from one’s depths. Dissolving utterly gives rise to the potential of holistic repatterning. This is the model of the process of dynamic transformation, ego death and re-creation. That which was solid becomes liquefied, dissolved, deliteralized. The concrete image of the body and turbulent thoughts “morph” into the flow of pure undifferentiated energy potential.

A return to the absolute void is a return to the womb for rebirth after destructuring or creative regression. It means a process of ego dissolution and personality deconstruction, swimming upstream against the flow of the stream of consciousness to our Unborn roots. We reach “escape velocity” beyond our personalistic behaviors, emotions, thoughts, and beliefs about who "we" are.

Consciousness "breaks up" into its elemental forms, manifesting as overwhelming imagery. This first phase of dissolution may be characterized by the futility of resistance, magnetic downward spirals, gravity wells, loss of morphological identity. The death throes of the ego prepare it for rebirth. Diamond Consciousness is aware of the flux of the void.

The ego "takes the plunge," it lets go and dissolves its old matrix, its old boundaries. When its boundaries melt, ego-consciousness dissolves into deep consciousness. The "wave merges with the ocean," and experiences its own deep transpersonal nature. It moves swiftly through the fear and pain, awakening to an infinitely wider reality of universal energy waves. In the ocean of creativity, "your own consciousness, shining, void and inseparable from the great body of radiance, has no birth, nor death." (Leary, 1964).

“All substances are part of my own consciousness. This consciousness is vacuous, unborn, and unceasing." Thus meditating, allow the mind to rest in the uncreated state. Like the pouring of water into water, the mind should be allowed its own easy mental posture in its natural, unmodified condition, clear and vibrant. --Leary, Metzner, Alpert, The Psychedelic Experience.

Jung associated universal mind, as the transpersonal source of being, with the Collective Unconscious, which contains all information in subtle form. All things in the universe have a connection with the universal mind. Nothing can exist without that unmanifest connection to everything else. Separation is an illusion for we are all one.

All that is universal is contained in our human essence for we are not separate from that. Mathematician, Charles Muses describes the nature of our embodiment: “Actually our bodies are like fountains [virtual dipoles]. The fountain has a shape only because it's being renewed every minute, and our bodies are being renewed. So we are standing waves; we are no exception.” Visualizations, such as the qabbalistic Middle Pillar Exercise are designed to pump negentropy, as a fountain of light, into the practitioner.

He describes time as the master controller that cuts through the entire physical universe and holds all of space, though not necessarily in each point of space. Time is, therefore, bigger than space. Wisdom traditions contend there is a fundamental unity between the universal mind and the cosmos itself -- including the unfolding of time.

Certain ancient and modern spiritual technologies are said to confer extraordinarily longer lifespans on their practitioners. Certain yogis, lamas and masters appear far younger than their chronological age. They attribute these youthful qualities to their meditation practice. To meditate is a regenerative therapy in which we “die daily” into the unconditioned state and are instantaneously reborn.

The stability of matter itself is mediated by zero-point fluctuations (ZPF) of the electromagnetic field. In each and every nano-instant, we a reborn at the birthplace of matter, much like a refreshing screen and therefore have the potential to reform utterly, instantaneously. There is healing potential in immersion in the undifferentiated creative energy.

Sparkling Diamond Expanse

The meditation model describes direct apprehension of this experience as awareness of ‘Nothing whatsoever’, total blankness which is utterly open and indescribable, yet recognition of your timeless primal nature. Cutting through mere stillness reveals an undivided, wide-awake, clear and vivid state. One penetrates the true nature of all phenomena.

The scientific and mystical views complement one another. Primordial consciousness is the ultimate groundstate. The ultimate vacuum is also the substrate of consciousness, which can be experienced as a relative mental phenomena during the direct experience of meditative quiescence. The mind disengages from the sense and its own content.

This natural, unencumbered state of mind has an intrinsic radiance and purity. Its radiant potential can be revealed by calming superficial turbulence and making the senses dormant. Only the radiant state of clear consciousness remains. All clarity comes from this luminous substrate shining through normal sensory and mental phenomena.

This state has been described as “an unfluctuating state, in which one experiences bliss like the warmth of a fire, luminosity like the dawn, and nonconceptuality like an ocean unmoved by waves.”

Terms may vary in different spiritual schools but the phenomenology of vivid luminosity remains the same. Biochemically, it is likely related to pineal secretions of the natural psychedelic DMT (dimethyltryptamine). But this hormone alone cannot confer the trained ability to focus and concentrate, which stabilize the realization.

When we look within, this is what we see – the individual stream of consciousness. This relative vacuum experience does not liberate the mind nor is it absolute Reality. Our perceptions and concepts all arise in our consciousness not the objective physical world.

All phenomena emanate from absolute space, including those that constitute our subjective phenomenal experience. Absolute vacuum is only realized by contemplative insight in primordial consciousness. Awareness becomes limitless in scope. All states are permeated by the clear light of primordial awareness.

The open fundamental nature of the mind meets the fundamental nature of the experienced world. This nondual union is called The Great Perfection, or “One Taste.” (Wallace) It is the lowest possible state of activity coupled with the highest potential for freedom possible. It is a boundless wellspring of inspired creativity.

Uncultivated meditation is called ‘sight without something to be seen,’ inexpressible awareness and means sustaining this empty, timeless view. The “diamond vehicle” is radiant beyond bliss, unchanging and indestructible. Past thoughts cease; future thoughts haven’t arisen. The mind rests in pure perception, the unfabricated, unconstructed mind – primordial presence divested of its veils.

In Vajrayana practice this nature is fully present as wisdom or pristine awareness, the undeluded aspect and fundamental nature of the mind. Former vehicles of consciousness are known as "causal vehicles," but the Vajrayana is known as the "resultant vehicle" of clear light.

Finally, everything dissolves into the state of emptiness. Since it is not a concrete thing, our essence, self-existing awareness, can neither permanently exist, nor be annihilated. Space is naked revelation, devoid of constructs and beyond arising, duration and ceasing.

The alchemists, students of consciousness in matter, sought an elixir of life, a “medicine of philosophers”, a cure-all or panacea. What the modern world yearns for is a “meta-syn,” or contemporary visionary synthesis rooted not in a mechanistic model but one using nature’s own forms of self-organization. This unified field theory is the Holy Grail of physics.

Most meditation schools include a worldview or map of consciousness among their teachings. They speak of domains beyond time and space and link it to an eternal realm and profound illumination. They describe theories of creation and our creation in metaphorical language and teach a way to penetrate our own depths into the finer essence of Reality with its underlying sacred Source. The Heart Sutra, for example, insists that all form is inherent in the void, and the void is the root of all form.

“Aether” means “shine” in Greek. The fundamental reality of such an unseen, fluidlike source of universal energy is the hallmark of the world’s secret mystery schools. Greek philosophers Pythagoras and Plato discussed it at length. Sanskrit Vedic scriptures call it “prana” and “Akasha,” or “rigpa.”

The Qigong model calls it “chi” or “ki,” or “mana,” with special emphasis placed on its interactions with the human body in martial arts and acupuncture. Adepts of this tradition learn to manipulate energy to allegedly create miraculous events, such as levitation, teleportation, manifestation, instant healing, telepathy and other spiritual powers. Initiates have stressed the need to “raise your vibrations” for thousands of years.

Currently, energy medicine emphasizes holistic self-care of the energy body – the body electric -- for health and healing. New treatments for the EM fields of the body with low intensity lasers and other forms of light and sound are multiplying. Our bodies are essentially “frozen light” as is everything else. This light is transduced from the vacuum by the holographic blueprint of our DNA, which acts as a cymatic projector employing biophotonic light and sound (phonons) to read and manifest our genetic code. Brian Josephson (2003) describes what might be seen as Bardo or afterlife states: “Next we observe that a form of proto-life, defined as fluctuation patterns surviving longer than typical patterns do, can be hypothesized as occurring at the Planck scale, evolution of such life being expected to involve evolution of the accompanying informational systems also. We get to the proposed model by supposing that the ordinary physical component and the informational component can evolve separately. and that the informational component can even survive the creation and destruction of individual universes, remaining as an ever-present background with which new universes, Planck scale fluctuations and more developed life forms can all beneficially interact. Assuming an indefinitely extended time scale, the most persistent part of the informational background can evolve indefinitely, so that its dynamics might come to include features corresponding to mathematical concepts and operations as well.”

Cosmic Crystalline Vacuum

Buckminster Fuller spoke in quasi-mystical tones rhapsodizing about his sublime geometries, which bear a suspicious resemblance to zero-point. Jitterbugging Vector Equilibrium Matrix is not a structure but a system, the prime nucleated system. Vector Equilibrium is not a structure but the prime nucleated system. VE models the 4th, 5th and 6th dimensionals with tetrahedra. Equilbirium between + and - is zero. VE is the true zero reference of energetic mathematics - cosmic zero.

Zero pulsation in the VE is a metaphorm of eternity and God: the zero-phase of conceptual integrity inherent in + and - symmetries. VE is important because all the nuclear tendencies to implosion and explosion are reversible and always in exact balance. VE models energetic events everywhere always, but is is non-observable.

This metaphorm (V.E.) represents the self's initial real-I-zation both inwardly and outwardly from the beginning of being "betweeness"; maximum inbetweeness. Push/pull; convergence/divergence; gravity/radiation.

At zero-point, waves can pass through other waves without interference. Vectoral phase or zone of neutral resonance balances outwardly pushing wave propagation and inwardly pulling gravitational coherence. This emptiness at the center of everything is the cosmic terminal condition and nature's most economical lines of energy travel. All 4 planes of all 8 tetrahedra are congruent in the four visible planes passing through a common VE center..

The dynamic activity connected with the drive to know, to penetrate, to illumine, culminates in a stillness, silence, cessation of all effort which itself dissolves in the tranquility of total negation. 0 = 2. It is only by virtue of the fact that it is Naught. All form and power are latent in the Void.

The Crown of Creation

Spiritual teachers warn us not to confuse the finer planes of luminous spiritual being with the physical domain of physics, even quantum mechanics. Still, some parallels can be drawn with conceptual or theoretical benefits for deepening our conceptual and experiential understanding. There is a virtual replica (VR) of all matter, including living organisms, in the vacuum. Resonance and oscillation is accompanied by modulation of virtual particle/antiparticle pressure waves.

We come from, are sustained by and are returning to the light of our mass, radiant energy. It is the mass-free, force-free form that energy takes in space before its interaction with mass creates force. The most we can say about our so-called physical existence is that we are standing wavefronts in spacetime. To truly live from that place is to identify ultimately with a superluminal massless body of light, the Diamond Body. That is the true nature of the vehicle of our consciousness, our essence.

Something-for-Nothing

There seem to be some evidence that consciousness, at the most fundamental levels, is a quantum process. But consciousness may not be limited to that; it may be more primordial than the subquantal domain.

Many have made the quantum mind argument. It has been mathematically shown that subquantum particles/waves can perform some pretty amazing "dance steps" as they wiggle and jiggle about in attempts to connect and disconnect in ever new and more creative ways in their intimate interactions with one another. Basically, all energy is "created" from a "nothingness" that we call virtual photons.

Cells are made up of molecules, which are made up of atoms, which are made up of atomic particles like electrons, protons, and neutrons, which are in turn made up of sub-atomic particles like leptons, mesons, and baryons. Each of these particles is also simultaneously an energy wave, and each of these particle-waves has an opposite "twin" somewhere in the universe. Theoetically, an anti-particle is a particle moving backwards in time.

When a quantum particle and its anti-particle collide, they mutually vanish in opposite directions in a "puff of light" called a photon. A photon has what is called "zero-rest mass," because at rest, it has no mass. It's resting energy is always equal to the speed of light, which (from within our reality demension) can be neither slowed down nor speeded up.

There is another way photons manifest in our universe. In their "non-being"--being state, they are called virtual (as opposed to actual) photons. These virtual energy quanta, from our finite perspective, are continusously being simultaneously emitted and absorbed by electrons. This is the process whereby the electromagnetic force which holds all of life together is created and maintained.

First there is an electron, then there is an electron and a photon, and then there is an electron again...but only for one thousand-trillionth of a second". It is during this leap into infinity--a state from which irtual particles never actually escape, but only seem to--that our finite reality shakes hand with infinity. EM force is mediated by virtual photons. A virtual process gets triggered by a superliminal (faster-than-the-speed-of-light) jump of negentropy (information) which briefly organizes some of this infinite vacuum energy to make the virtual particle(s).

Quantum particles carry either a negative, positive or neutral charge, and have a metaphoric characteristic known as angular momentum, or "spin." Spin actually describes a particle's idea of spatial orientation as it moves away from its point of origin rather than any actual rotation. Similar kinds of electrical charges repel one another because of their equal saturation of virtual photons, and opposites attract because of an unequal saturation of virtual photon energy. Neutrons are neutral. The dance of repulsion/attraction enables atoms to join into molecules with orbiting electrons. It is the glue of the universe.

Consciousness is a complex emergent phenomenon, one born of many discrete events fusing together as a single experience. Thus it can be seen that life exists not merely on the temporo-spatial plane of our linear reality, but also is suspended, somewhat simultaneously, within a timeless, massless, dimensionless level of reality.
We are particles; we are probability waves. We are matter; We are energy. We are body; We are mind; We are psychophysical.

Diamond Awareness

In this dynamic model there are no “things”, just energetic events. Light and sound (acoustic cymatics) modulate all matter. This “holoflux” includes the ultimately flowing nature of what is, and all possible forms. All the objects of our world are three-dimensional images formed of standing and moving waves by electromagnetic and nuclear processes. This is the guiding matrix for self-assembly, and manipulating and organizing physical reality. It is how our DNA creates and projects our psychophysical structure.

Our brains mathematically construct ‘concrete’ reality by interpreting frequencies from another dimension. This information realm of meaningful, patterned primary reality transcends time and space. Thus, the brain is an embedded hologram, interpreting a holographic universe. Supernal light emerges from this ground of being, both in the cosmos and our human brains and bodies.

All existence consists of embedded holograms within holograms, fractally embedded waves within waves of clear light. Their interrelatedness somehow gives rise to our existence and sensory images. When we embody this intimate wisdom, our bodies become temples of the living spirit.

Absolute space is the womb of creation and the physics of virtual photon fluctuation reflects not only Nature, but also our nature. Only now are we learning just how literal that experience of Light is, and the interactive mechanisms it engages in our holistic psychophysical Being.

Higher dimensional structures can be designed which, by their shape and topology, are stable. Such forms have been suggested as models for consciousness and the soul. It may be more than a poetic expression, metaphor. or perception; it may be a holographic blueprint in the vacuum ether, which is capable of taking and sustaining impressions as well as guiding the unfoldment of the energetic and material manifestation. It is a complex self-organizing system. The hypercube (the Diamond Body) and Vector Equilibrium are dynamic hyperdimensional structures that relate directly to the sacred geometries of many mystical traditions (i.e., Merkabah; Cube of Space, Flower of Life, Sri Yantra).

Qabalah describes the emanation of all and everything from the Three Veils of Negative Existence: Ain, Ain Soph, and Ain Soph Aur. It describes the archetypal, mental, emotional and physical bodies of mankind from an energetic foundation that is synonymous with primordial Spirit. The Tree of Life emanates from the Negative Veils in the geometry of the face-centered cubic close-packed formation, which is the atomic blueprint of carbon and the diamond. Our energetic bodies are modeled from this ethereal virtual substrate which undergirds our synergetic existence.

The Buddhist conceptualization of universes has no initial creation event, but instead speaks of infinitely repeated cycles of expansion, stability, destruction, and quiescence. Oscillations.

Buddha tells us that, "There is an Unborn, Unoriginated, Uncreated, Unformed. If there were not this Unborn, this Unoriginated, this Uncreated, this Unformed, escape from the world of the born, the originated, the created, the formed would not be possible." But there is this essential ground, and it is possible to "escape" spacetime, according to Buddha.

Esoteric Futures

We name our eras for the spirit of the times, but though the latest terms supersede the old ones, they don't overwrite the past. Eras overlap as we strive to catch up with our own futures conceptually, philosophically and practically. We nostalgically fall back into old ways of talking, thinking, being and belief -- even when we know they are false. Some cultural pioneers will be ahead of the curve, while others remain firmly attached to the visions and values of by-gone eras.

Turbulence is the hallmark of the Transmodern era and the hallmark of chaos. Globalized culture has been called “integral culture,” but we are far from integration, far from equlibrium. More accuratly we still inhabit a postmodern mash up of conflicting cultures and ideologies, often in hot turmoil.

Seeing irony in the fact we can't coexist harmoniously is certainly no solution. Each of us has to help ourselves navigate the complex environment with all its dimensions and meaning. We can find some of that meaning within ourselves, within the transformative process that mirrors nature's way. Inner knowing becomes the locus of authority. But we also must cautiously remember we can be self-deluded.

Chaos and order pulsate in an intermingling way at each and every locale. What happens in one place has rippling effects throughout the entire planet. But nonlocal complex changes don't trickle down to remote locales. They rip through the biosphere at lightspeed, morphing the culture and nature. The virtuously instantaneous arrival of the future is like psychic electroshock.

Not everyone has arrived at a new cultural, intellectual and scientific outlook. What we see is a spectacle of hypercharged transmutation that is ubiquitous. We are a global culture in massive transition, left without a solid ground of reliable spiritual, cultural or mundane authority.

We have not learned how to flow together as a planetary species. But at the same time we are in the inexhorable process of turbulent interpenetration. We have exchanged dreams of utopia for dreams of liquid mutability and unprecedented electronic communications.

We have crossed many boundaries, and in some cases there is no going back. Each generation has the task of making gold of the lead of human history. The word current means right now, but it also means the hot charged flow of electricity...of potential. Our social organisms can become works of art meaning as much or more than the rising tide of images impinging upon us from all media.

Lifestyle Choices

In Chaos Theory, turbulence has certain qualitative characteristics. It isn't governed by politics and eCONomics but by conceptual and mathematical attractors, including totally unpredictable strange attractors as likely to create order as chaos. We cannot know what the critical nexus points of our spinning future will bring -- breakdown or breakthrough. Will we find our hidden fractal order? Can culture truly become a thing of beauty?

Ultimately, “transmodernity” is a meme, a mental category by which we benchmark cultural change. It attempts, though doomed to failure, to encapsulate the emerging zeitgeist of the new millennium. We have exchanged utopian ideals for dysphoric visions of post-apocalyptic breakdown and the liquid mutability of virtuality. Persistent deep change and confrontation of perspectives are the hallmarks of this era. But what happens once the opposites unite? Jung called that transcendence.

We must look further to find our way through the chaos of regression that opens us to the emergence of new self-organization. Old ways break down before new ways emerge and stabilize. Beyond the spectacle of breakdown lies the Unknown and we must remain optimistically open to it. Alchemy is not metaphysical but transphysical. It is an eternally renascent Philosophy of Nature.

We now realize we have to create our own Matrix of being without imploding from accelerating change, falling prey to utopianism or the myth of progress. Conversely, wallowing in narcissism, nihilism, victimization or irony won’t get us anywhere, since they are inherently oppositional. We also don't need to emulate superheroic conquerors of by-gone eras, especially in vain attempts to "conquer" ourselves.

Less stressful orientations naturally lead to greater well-being, to natural healing. Alchemy and the natural dynamics of change describe alternative approaches for transforming. Premodern wisdom helps us transcend and transmute modernity, postmodernity and any fantasy we currently conceive to model our times. It holds secrets of transubstantiating gross materiality into spirit.


Process & Alchemy

Mystics, including the Renaissance magi, often live beyond the boundaries of their era, or foresee trends and knowledge which doesn't manifest publically for centuries. The word mysticism implies a special kind of insight, deriving from the Greek meaning “to see.” In this case, being such a visionary means seeing through the alchemical framework.

In alchemy, methodology merges with revelation. It is a self-revealing process when followed to its eternally reiterating conclusions. It is a process-goal that actually never ends. It isn’t occult or hidden, except to the degree that one has inherent capacity to experientially see through its metaphors to the core of reality. It requires some reflection. The revelation is the brilliant potential of contemporary science and ancient mystical knowledge becoming congruent -- they mirror and compliment one another.

The esoteric philosophy alchemy is a creative art rooted in the life of the soul (Anima Mundi) wed to Spirit and Body. Our eyes are opened by esoteric training and direct experience of the fruits of that practice. Transmodern alchemy is a hypercultural fusion of cross-cultural and interdisciplinary practices. New consciousness emerges gradually and suddenly, based on the principle of health, not self-interest or the disintegration of indulgence.

Yet we still suffer from mankind’s bane of alienation and separation. In the past, seemingly paradoxically, the retrieval of the soul and healing the scars of separation has been in developmental terms of finding an integral ‘Self,’ but we need to find more than our Selves for true healing. We need to connect with the true nature of our being, beyond the human artifacts of theology, philosophy and technology that bind us because we are outgrowing them.

Just as we are finding new areas of cultural integration in the Transmodern paradigm, we can extend our philosophical ideas in areas as yet unknown but that can be mapped out as we inhabit our transformed futures. Sometimes we have to be shocked out of our old ways of thinking and being, seized by the new zeitgeist, by the image of what was considered utterly alien.

In this way we claim the unknown parts of ourselves. We cannot have known our “Transhuman” nature earlier even though some philosophers hinted at it. It depends utterly on the technological gestalt of the day, including emergent transgenetic options. The new outlook includes the perpetual futureshock of deep change as we become transhuman, whatever that comes to mean in practical terms.

The mechanistic clockwork universe has unwound itself. We are more than the sum of our parts. Old patriarchal notions of the industrial era have led us to the edge of societal and ecological suicide. We keep trying to review and retrieve the knowledge of the past to see where we went wrong, but mostly we compulsively repeat these old memes in ways called ‘new’ that simply aren’t.

We will only understand where we have failed when we find what truly works NOW. The new philosophies of nature include ancient wisdom and modern science. The new mentality transcends and transforms modernity beyond the consumer ethic toward a paradigm that builds toward well-being for all, leaving both modern and postmodern mindsets behind.

Transcendent understanding and well-being for all may be too ambitious. But at least we can formulate our worldview in terms that include a comprehensive consideration of contemporary scientific and spiritual knowledge within an intelligent understanding. Art in the future means that the potential of genius will flow unhappered by its chosen medium.

Ultimately, the alchemists tell us that spiritual and physical reality are inseparable. Our confidence in scientific inquiry has given way to holistic vision. Consciousness, from ordinary to anomalous experience, is the proving ground of reality. The most unusual phenomena teach us the most about ourselves.

Lightness of Being

Alchemy recognizes living systems as the root science. Science has revealed that what mystics have claimed for Millennia is true - the core of our existence and all existence is living light. Turbulent light is the 5th dimension of reality, the virtual vacuum fluctuation at the core of each and every particle.

The living DNA of our bodies projects our manifestation through coherent light and sound. This is holography "without strings." We are quantum bioholograms -- hyperdimensional beings. As embedded holograms, we are hyperconnected to the whole cosmos and carry that same universe within us. We are intimate with the cosmos but often simply don't realize it.

The groundstate of nature is the heart of matter. Our nature is radiant scalar energy, the nonobservable yet roiling cosmic ocean of vacuum fluctuation, the disassembled roots of all being, the true primordial soup. The Heart Sutra claims that all form is nothing but Void and quantum physics agrees.

Our subatomic quantum nature guides and regulates our electromagnetic and chemical being, which influences our minds and emotions, forming a reciprocal feedback loop with all objects and living forms in our environment. In the right circumstances, we can respond to one another like resonating coupled oscillators. Our whole body flickers in and out of existence at an astounding rate, and each of those quantum re-creations is an opportunity to transform utterly.

If we drop down another whole domain of observation from the juicy “wetware” described by chemistry and atomic structure, we enter the subatomic realm of quantum physics. At this level the behavior of matter, both organic and inorganic, is governed not by classical notions of cause and effect or even complex dynamics, but by those of quantum probability.

“Something” appears to emerge from virtually “nothing” which physicists describe as a sea of infinite potential. They call it quantum foam, vacuum potential, or zero-point energy – we can call it the vacuum substructure. Subatomic particles wink in and out of existence on a continuous basis, like some subatomic froth. This “something” appears paradoxically in wave/particle form. This world is not transcendent to matter, but underlies it as a coherent unity, much like ecology underlies biology.

Light and Sound

In this dynamic model there are no “things”, just energetic events. Everything is one dynamic process. Light and sound (acoustic cymatics) modulate all matter. This “holoflux” includes the ultimately flowing nature of what is, and all possible forms.

All the objects of our world are three-dimensional images formed of standing and moving waves by electromagnetic and nuclear processes. This is the guiding matrix for self-assembly, and manipulating and organizing physical reality. It is how our DNA creates and projects our psychophysical structure.

DNA functions in a way that correlates with holographic projection. The code is transformed into physical matter guided by light and sound signals. DNA projects a blueprint for the organism that is translated from the electrodynamic to the molecular level. Further, research strongly suggests DNA functions as a biocomputer. This DNA-wave biocomputer reads and writes genetic code and forms holographic pre-images of biostructures. We are more fundamentally electromagnetic, rather than chemical beings.

DNA and the genome have been identified as active “laser-like” environments. Roughly speaking, DNA can be considered a liquid crystal gel-like state that acts on the incoming light in the manner of a solitonic lattice. A soliton is an ultra stable wave train that arises in the context of non-linear wave oscillation. Oscillations are set up when DNA acts as a rotary pendulum kindling other oscillations.

Chromosomes can transform their own genetic-sign laser radiations into broadband genetic-sign radio waves. This is the main information channel of DNA, the same for both photons and radio waves. Superposed coherent waves of different types in the cells interact to form diffraction patterns, first in the acoustic domain, then in the electromagnetic domain. The quantum hologram is the matrix of the translations between acoustical and optical holograms. The human biocomputer can be modeled through the marriage of quantum mechanical and complex dynamics.

Scalar energy has a direct effect on nerve cells and cell membranes. Scalar energy in the body can cause changes in brain states. Scalar energy can modulate the basic biochemical communication between nerve cells mediated by neurotransmitters. (Rein) Our brains mathematically construct ‘concrete’ reality by interpreting frequencies from another dimension. (Pribram) This pre-geometric information realm of meaningful, patterned primary reality transcends time and space.

Embedded Holograms

Holograms contain all the information needed to reconstruct a whole image. Holograms contain many dimensions of “compressed” information in a subtle network of interacting frequencies. Thus, shining a coherent light (reference beam) or laser through the fuzzy-looking overlapping waves of a 2-dimensional hologram can create a virtual image of a 3-dimensional figure.

The gist of the holographic paradigm is that there is a more fundamental reality. There is an invisible flux not comprised of parts, but an inseparable interconnectedness. The holographic paradigm is one of reciprocal enfolding and unfolding of patterns of information. All potential information about the universe is holographically encoded in the spectrum of frequency patterns constantly bombarding us.

Thus, the brain is an embedded hologram, interpreting a holographic universe. (Miller, Webb, Dickson, 1973) All existence consists of embedded holograms within holograms and their interrelatedness somehow gives rise to our existence and sensory images. (Bohm, 1980) When we consciously embody this intimate wisdom, our bodies become temples of the living spirit. We supercharge our potential.

Interference patterns of waves can be visualized interacting like ripples on a pond. At the quantum level they create matter and energy as we perceive them as lifelike 3-dimenional effects. Consciousness and matter share the same essence, differing by degrees of subtlety or density. There is a strong correlation between modulations of the brain’s EM field and consciousness (Persinger, 1987; McFadden, 2002). Our psychophysical being is embedded in the universe as a continuously evolving, interactively dynamic hologram.

Chaos Theory

New physics, chaos theory, synergetics, and information theory describe our existence as complex dynamical systems. Entropy can only occur in a system that is absolutely closed so no energy from outside can be fed into it. But the mindbody is an open system, which exchanges energy and information with its environment and can be negentropic.

We can also have a negentropic influence on one another (Gladwell), perturbing, enlarging, and creating new pathways and possibilities. Theoretically, behavior can ripple outward until a critical mass or "tipping point" is reached, changing the world. Gladwell's thesis that ideas, products, messages and behaviors "spread just like viruses do" is a metaphor akin to memes. Highly sociable or connective people often become revolutionary leaders, bringing others together with a new perspective, a broadened worldview. This is also the cultural role of shamans.

Do we live in a persistent delusion of separateness? Only that concept limits us from constantly realizing the depths of our primordial fusion. We are all nonlocally connecting and diverging in an ill-defined yet tangible way at the subatomic, individual, group and global level.

Psychic energy or libido is a psychosomatic phenomenon analogous to the paradoxical nature of energy/matter or wave/particle. The human body is not an object in space, but seamlessly welded to spacetime. We are not merely a phenomenal body of flesh, but one of awareness, of consciousness, a living interface of inner and outer field phenomena.

We all experience visceral or gut reactions and know instinctively how our mental states affect our physical vitality, and vice versa. But often we loose the intimate relationship with our mindbody, with the source of our being, our aliveness, our passions, our self-expression, essence and healthy self-image. If we experience this flow at all, it ebbs and flows away. Our individual and collective creative potential remains largely unrealized.

Soma Sophia - Body Wisdom

How often do we pay attention to those vital signs, the innate wisdom of the body, inhabiting our minds rather than our flesh? We are increasingly not instinctual, but cultural, and we choose many of our behaviors for good or ill. Most of us are, indeed, "sick and tired" of the way things are, but what do we do to change them and ourselves?

We can learn simple techniques for self-care and self-regulation, such as biofeedback, yoga, and meditation. Creativity, as an activity in several fields, brings many intrinsic health-promoting rewards. We can create new habits to help us cope with technocratic society that tone or recalibrate our systems and change our physical state. We all have to learn how to deal with personal and/or global catastrophe whether we want to or not.

This dance is a harmonic continuum from the smallest to the largest scales, permeating all domains of assembly and observation: subquantum, quantum, molecular, chemical, even cultural, global, and cosmological. The evolution of our dynamic system obeys universal laws. Likewise our behaviors flow into manifestation from our beliefs, thoughts and emotions, including our self-image, generated by our interaction with the environment from the womb forward.

By opening to system dynamics we can reorganize away from the entropic, reductionistic, destructive habit patterns that plague our species. We can make stress-reducing negentropic choices for structural and psychological adjustment, which improve our quality of life. Integration is a synergistic process rooted in primordial bodymind consciousness.

Field Body

The brain is not confined to our skull, but permeates our whole being through the intracellular matrix and sensory system, as well as the strong EM fields generated by the beating heart. Research suggests activities in the brain may be pre-conditioned by the DC field of the organism (Oschmann; Becker). Our molecular system extends beyond the nervous system and is the bedrock of intuitive, subconscious and unconscious processes.

Turning our attention deep within ourselves we find the Voice of the Silence speaking back. Our felt-sense is our wise intuitive response if we but listen. It brings meaning and value to life. What is your body trying to tell you? The body has a mind of its own and speaks that mind in gut reactions, body language, dreams, psychosomatics, and literal symptoms.

Both the alternative health fields and mindbody psychologies such as the humanistic, Jungian and transpersonal psychologies have sought the triple union of body, soul, and spirit much like the medieval alchemists. But only a fusion of those approaches can manifest the union of opposites in the golden flesh. We can learn to care for our mindbodies in new ways from the inside out, conceptually and experientially.

Creativity and Healing

We can return to Nature and our own nature, collectively preparing a paradigm shift for a new shared reality and trajectory that integrates physical, emotional, cognitive and spiritual coherence. The silent frictionless flow of living intelligence is beyond words and conceptual constructs.

We are a process of recursive self-generation. The groundstate is our creative Source, directly discoverable in the immediacy of the emergent embodied moment. We are continuously in the deep embrace of the physical universe. It not only interpenetrates but is the very fabric of our being.

The healing response includes behavioral, mental and spiritual shifts or transformations. Health is the natural outcome of a meaningful life, not just absence of symptoms. It means a connection with and comprehension of the complexities of life that is deeper than the conventional worldview of cause and effect. Many researchers view consciousness as the foundation of reality. We do not exist independently from the Universe; we are fused with it. But the exact nature of that seamless connection is unknown.

How we Know What We Know

A radically empirical phenomenological approach includes subjective experience as primary data and addresses the totality of experience. We are not mere observers of consciousness and cosmos but interacting in fluid interpenetration.

We need to recognize even unconventional or paradoxical metaphors that help us order our experience and knowledge, including metaphors of consciousness. Alchemy, dynamics and physics are rich in such metaphors that speak to our direct experience. The influence of the unconscious on how we experience ourselves and our environment is far greater than we realize.

Science itself must be thoroughly re-assessed in the light of this pervasive influence of the unconscious mind. We must reassess challenging evidence, contemplate alternative conceptual frameworks and metaphors, scientific interests and disinterests, and scientific judgment. We must accept the presence of unconscious processes and contents, not as minor perturbations, but as a potentially major factor.

Changing our relationship with the world is both a psychological and political act. The ailments we perceive in the world are as much in ourselves. Through remembering our interdependence, we can experience the power of our individual actions to influence the whole.
