In my years of performing there are just a few drummers that I have come across who are truely gifted..........Issa is one of them.
In the short time I have been blessed to work with him I have gotten to know an amazing human being who would give the shirt off his back to any friend.
Within a few years, I feel Issa will be one of the most prominent and prolific musicians to rise and go above and beyond mainstream drumming. He is already gaining a reputation as one of the best drummers in town and I am very fortunate to be able to work with him and call him my friend.

My Blog

Budweiser Presents: Real Men Of Genius.

Today, we salute you, Mr. Middle Eastern Drum Circle Hippy. While everyone is playing a standard four count in perfect synchronization, you have managed to amaze the masses by not only bringing the loudest drum, but also with your ability to play embellishments with no regard for sanity - or rhythm. A roll. Tek Tek. La La Slap. Wow. With your flailing arms are free wild hair, you proclaim your passion for drumming with what we think might be triplet... read more

I have displaced my Apple.
When did I loose sight of what was real?
I sat my Apple down for one moment, and lapsed into a state of selfishness, where I dreamed.

I dreamed of a wonderful life - Without my Apple with me.
But I have awoken from that world - And now my Apple is gone.

Hopefully my Apple has fallen far from the tree.

Music is my refuge. I can crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness. Music has kept me sane through some of the more intresting times in my life.

Last Saturday, I performed at the Maxwell Museum with Leyla Najma and Beth Beaver. The crowd was absolutley amazed with the knowledge that Beth and Leyla had to offer about the origins of Middle Eastern, Oriental, and Mediterranean music and dance. But the intellectual heavy-weight championship didn't end there - Beth... read more

After getting some advice from a good friend, I have decided that it would best if I removed my previous blog entry, due to its implications. I don't want anything but peace in this community, and hopefully I have not ruffeled any feathers.

Right now I am taking huge steps to improve my life and get it back in order - Personally and professionaly. I made a mistake of mixing those two worlds together, and the result was devastating. I feel that I am on the right track with my life. I am so... read more
