about me
Ĩżąŕđ is but one of my time-bound identities ('et Zard' from the ancient French, derived from... "all things A 'and Z'"). I am a long in the tooth Humanist hipster empath (and sometimes public safety messenger), with a tendency for philosophical contemplation, and a soft, chewy center. I enjoy a quality icy cold beverage just as much as the next tribe member (especially those that create their own - beverage that is, not member), I enjoy reading and I generally spend a geekishly large amount of time online, I enjoy smoking a good cigar and I'm spiritually and artistically inspired by travels to exotic places (grounded in one or more of the following: Earth, Water, Sky and Fire... but can be coaxed into the atmosphere). I like what I heard John Cusack say in response to criticizing the Bush administration policy in Iraq with his movie 'War, Inc.', that 'art is about ideas, and ideas have consequences.'

I awoke twice in the past week with vivid memories of having just been in Alaska's First City, Ketchikan. The Klingit totems, row houses on street-lined piers, the shipyards, the steep spruce-lined hillsides of Alaska's inside passage, on the ocean, bordering Canada. Screaming bald eagles and songbirds. Float planes and piercing blue glaciers.
I haven't had such an active dreamscape of a single location since just before I moved to Kwajalein, Marshall Islands, more than ten years ago.

I guess I have always been somewhat of a fan of Target stores. In the past I've purchased comfortable inexpensive real leather shoes there as well as Slacker t-shirts and interesting mass-produced pop art to hang on the wall. I have even found some pretty original holiday decorations there - Nightmare Before Christmas and traditional wooden and copper yard ornaments. I guess I have always considered them to have my kind of hip geeky style at heart.
I'm not going to lie, I do miss the mo...

I received this from my Old Farmer's Almanac e-mail. Interesting stuff. I enjoy the astrology tie-in's and references to Native American and Pagan society...
This month’s Full Moon occurs on February 9. Native Americans called it the Full Snow Moon because the heaviest snows usually fall in February.
