The evening will begin with a screening of this cult classic film and escalate into pure riot and revelry! The after party for this even could only feature a Burning Man inspired fashion show, Blackberry Wood, Jay Michael and DJ Timothy Wisdom – not to mention food, fire... . a mobile boardroom parked outside to settle emergency red tape, celebrity monkeys and a giant mechanical mondo spider.

The event will be presented in two parts:

FULL MEAL DEAL: Film Screening, Discussion and Party: $25 advance, $30 door
7pm Doors

Advance tickets are available NOW online at www.JuicyDangerMeetsBurningMan.com and at Zulu Records (1972 West 4th Ave) and Highlife Records (1317 Commercial Drive).

Guests will be treated to an evening of pure revelry, mischief, stunning media and all night entertainment. View the film that changed the face of the underground, creative community of Vancouver amongst the same colourful and energetic crowd that inspired it. The Japanese Hall will be cleverly disguised as a piece of the "Playa". We have a host of mischief makers plotting the uprising.. . . On visuals: David Rimmer, James Deane and Media Victim. Bid credit also goes to Burn BC, GVIAS and the Inner City Commune -- these folks know how to throw down a party. Cash bar, brilliant art installations, décor, fire shows, food, costumes and clever surprise theatrics all part of the scene. Costumes encouraged. Anything goes.

The film Juicy Danger Meets Burning Man is a fascinating look at the lives of two of Canada's most brilliant and dangerous performers, Tom Comet (Circus Orange) and Christine "Tiny" Taylor, who take their act of extreme hazard, buzzin and sparking with chainsaws and flame throwers to Burning Man (www.burningman.com). Seasoned Burners and inquisitive minds alike will marvel at the scene -- filmed at the renegade desert city 10 years ago! In those 10 years, Gemini nominated filmmaker David Vaisbord, creator and producer, has shown this film to seduced audiences via TV Ontario, CTV, and BRAVO! It played to sell out audiences in New York and Chicago, made celebrities out of its two leads -- the hair-raising comedic/thrill-seeking duo Tom Comet and Christine Taylor -- and received the Special Jury Prize at the Yorkton Short Film festival. David Vaisbord, Christine Taylor, Tom Comet (Circus Orange), as well as Larry Harvey and Marian Goodell from Burning Man will be holding the discussion panel following the film and shakin' it up with us at the after party.

Indeed, this is more than a DVD release. This is a unique, creative and inclusive community celebration. Get involved with the crew!
There are still a few volunteer positions available. Get a hold of Andrea Curtis, the event mama at orangeandorange@gmail.com.

I am so excited to move - close to the ocean, so many neighbourhoods to explore, a cornucopia of restaurants, a bright and sunny apartment, garden centres, a fresh start, business opportunities, closer to lovely friends, an art college down the hill, little snow in the winter, fun fashion, a nude beach, magazine stores, oceanside bike trails, extensive public transit.... oh my!

I still hate packing, though.

A new parade is going to LIGHT up Whistler!

I am so excited to be a part of this exciting project. Whistler gets a chance to tell its story & showcase it to the world during the Celebration 2010 festival that leads up to the big-O (around here that means the 2010 O-lympics!)

Anyone in our community can take part in lotsa workshops:
-lantern-making
-drumming
-costume-making
-banner and flag painting

Community arts is a hugely important facet of our world - it's all about making the default world an amazing place. These are the opportunities that I love to bring to life & take advantage of the funding to teach people art, create art and show it off!!

Spread the word to all your Whistler friends that they can be a part of something spectacular :)

Johan is now living in my driveway for the week! My manly male is MIA, so I had to call in a new manly male figure to take his place. Well, not really. I mean after all, Johan is sleeping in the driveway :)

This whole "taking the camper off the truck and lowering it onto saw horses" was very fascinating to watch. Suspensful. Daring. Very very scary! But Johan managed to watch his weight, and keep those eensy teensy spider legs on the ground as he lowered down his snail shell. What a talented guy!

And then we had a painting & drawing night at home. If you're around a Korean ESL student who's been told from day one that he "doesn't have any artistic abiility", don't try to convince him to throw some acrylic paint onto a canvas randomly. At least, not the first art night...... hehehehehe!!!

Resolutions anyone?

Ok - here it is - the time is NOW.
Erase the blind spots,
learn to love lots.
What is your passion?
What is mine?
Must be something divine!
What if it's trying something new?
Then what to do?
How to take the road,
that lets passion explode?

There's a theme here in these blogs - as is - what is the category I want to fall into?
Xandra's analogy about the stage maker for Cirque who said to the performers he was a scientist, but to the scientists he's more of an artist. There's no categorizing this fellow! Bear in mind that the story started out with "stage maker". The man already has a craft!! Does it really matter where it's applied (of course it does - that was rhetorical!)

How did YOU get where you are now?

Creativity is so social - introducing MUNster FUNster

Head a great painting session tonight with good friends, and realized at the end of it all just how easy it is to create in groups..... Johan said he had the paints for a while at home, but never used them. And tonight he created two paintings - like that, no effort! Or maye it was the wine, the melodic tunes, the comfortable atmosphere.... Could it be that creativity is actually quite a social phenomenon? Forget the image of the engrossed solitary artist honing their craft in a single room. Fashion design teams work in big open studios, and lots of others for that matter. Inspiration sparks so readlly in these environments. All I can say is - go Craft Night!

Can anyone show me how to make a costume like this?!? Check it out - this is awesome and inspiring. Talk about raising the bar. Forget fishnet - go mosaics and sequins. Not that fishnet isn't the most comfortable thing to dance in...... Wouldn't you just love to walk down Main Drag, Your Town in something like this? hhehehehe

It is almost upon us, a most treasured time of the year - the night where ghosts, ghouls, goblins come out to taunt and tease us mere mortals. What on earth am I going to pull out of my imagination, sew together with thread / glue gun / leather punch, and throw over my birthday suit for an elaborate display of ghastly proportions?

Bavaria is so beautiful, especially when experienced from the perspective of a boat cruising on the river. We saw castles, vineyards, moo cows, gorgeous forest, old men fishing, many many bicyclists pedalling the endless network of bike paths Germany has to offer. I live the most fortunate life, and had a great time exploring the countryside and centuries-old little villages of this beautiful part of the world. Plus, those Germans are so clever and it seems that every little detail has been thought through and followed through on leaving us North Americans to marvel at their creations. Sorry to all the piggys I ate wrapped up in intestinal skins. Survival of the fattest.

What a magical first weekend exploring the world of Street Performers. There was juggling, there was REAL world cup soccer with kids from all over the world playing with the Whistler Soccer Club in a spontaneous match in the pedestrian village, there was an 11 foot tall stilter with Italian flair, fire spinners and hula hoopers..... pure MAGIC.

This is what it's all about... I love doing this kind of work - getting all this amazing talent to come and entertain for so many smiling, giggling kids and their families. Let's do it again! See you next weekend.......

Dark Faery, being tired of all the happy people living out their ultimate lifestyle, feeling like she needed to get out from under a bubble headed off to the motherland. Sneaking around in the underground tunnels, she popped up into the daylight to sneak a peek at what is known to be a monumental structure. She had a good feeling she was sure to find evil, and was pleased to see four heavily armed military men just waiting to blast the bad guys who wanted to blast the big tower. But wait a minute! That meant they must be good guys. Surely, there must be evil somewhere....Where else would a black guinea pig just suddenly appear out of nowhere? Was it the evil east German man who lent in to her? But he didn't seem so evil, though he told her he was running away from it when the wall came down in his fatherland. So evil could be found somewhere after all...perhaps not at this particluar moment. The search continues....But for now: Kodak moment!
