Phone Scam or someone using my name illegally?

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/jaew/blog/4ffa0fdf-a20c-4d41-8729-627ad99b2efd">  						          <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/9c5/0bc/9c50bc39-89f4-4811-b041-040aa8643105.thumb" width="65" height="51" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>I just got this weird phone call from a non- native speaker who kept asking if I was "J**** *&amp;&amp;*8"(My legal name). I said, "yes this is she", several times and asked what this was about. He said, it sounds like you are mad. I said, no but could you tell me what this call is about?
After confirming my name again, he said something I couldn't understand and when I asked him to repeat it, he said something about a car accident last saturday. I told him I wasn't in any accident on saturday and asked how he got my name. He described the woman as having short hair and driving a Honda. I told him I didn't drive a Honda and asked for more information about the person, but he said he couldn't tell me more on the phone and hung up.

First of all, I can't imagine who would have given my name in an accident. plus give my correct legal name and cell phone number.
If it was some sort of scam, the caller didn't go any further with it.

I'm quite concerned about it any way since I am afraid of identity theft and scams of any sort using my name and credit information.

When I called the # back, it was for a firm in Pleasanton called Sub One Technology, but the call went to the main switchboard.

Does anybody have any ideas what this could be about?</div>

    </a>
										<div>I had my macbook repaired and stupidly failed to backup my memory.
My hard drive was completely erased and I lost everything including MS Office software.
I still have my previous broken ibook that has the software and some old photos, but I gave my old power cord away to someone who needed it on freecycle.
Does anyone have one of these that I can borrow to transfer my data from my old laptop?

Thanks beforehand!</div>

    </a>
										<div>1) My tenant is leaving at the end of June to move to San Francisco with a friend. So if you know of anyone looking for a place please let me know. I will be putting a craigslist ad up soon. My tenant has kindly offered to show the place while I am in LA. The rent is $900 plus $1000 security deposit. Move in July 1st. (I will link the ad and photos as soon as possible.)

2) I REALLY need to sell my Burning Man ticket! $242.75

3) And.... can anyone possibly drive me to Oakland Airport this afternoon? My flight leaves at 6:35PM and I'd like to get there @ 5:35.
   I would be forever grateful.=^.^=

4) Supervising people doing quality assurance testing in a warehouse in Bloomington(not that close to Beverly Hills) is so very glamourous and stimulating! And I get to eat at a different chain restaurant every night! Olive Garden anyone?
Pulse smart pens available soon at Target! http://www.livescribe.com/smartpen/index.html</div>

Who Wants To Buy My Burning Man Ticket? $242.75

    </a>
										<div>I bought the ticket because they said they weren't selling any tickets at the gate and I was afraid I'd want to go.
Anyway- definitely not going. Still want to go to North Africa sometime in the upcoming year if time and funds allow,
and if I can get anyone to travel with me. North Africa isn't really a great place for women to travel alone.

***It's $242.75 cash- that's how much it cost me with shipping and fees.*** I still have the lemon candy that came with it!

I plan to use the money towards a new bike. I haven't bought a new bike since I was a teen.
I realized my $40 craigslist bike is fine for the playa but not for going any sort of distance.
Riding across the Golden Gate Bridge a few weeks ago, I completely embarrassed myself by having to get off and walk at every slight incline. Everyone else seemed to have no problem but my bike is REALLY heavy.

I have my eye on the Giant FCR3 pictured above and the Marin Larkspur.
Do any of you bike people have good suggestions for a hybrid bike that is light but costs less than $500?

Since it's a holiday I'll probably have to repost this...but let me know if you are anyone you know needs a ticket.

I am leaving tomorrow to work in LA for three weeks(May 27-30 and June 1st - 16th) for my temporary contract job at Livescribe- they make smart pens!
If anyone is in LA and wants to meet up- I'll be staying at the Marriott Rancho Cucamonga! Ping me for my cell phone #.

Zoe- I will be back this weekend for your KBBQ.</div>

    </a>
										<div>This is Kitty, my neighbors basically threw her out because they are moving and "all of a sudden" allergic.
She is smaller than the photo suggests, maybe 3-4 months old.
She is very friendly and affectionate because she used to live with a family of twelve!

I am fostering her until she finds a home and she is going for her ladygardenectomy on thursday. She will also get her rabies shot then. You will have to take care of the rest. It costs $100 plus to adopt from most rescue organizations, but you can have her for free if you pass the evaluation.

If you don't know what a "ladygardenectomy" or a "hoohaectomy" is, you OBVIOUSLY do not read cat blogs.</div>

    </a>
										<div>The capture, spay and release of the feral kitty was successful.
She is a little orange colored torbie( tortoise shell and tabby)
She needed 3 days to recover so I had her in my bathroom for a few days and I I let her out of the cage in the bathroom.
When I got home from Arizona- she seemed to have healed well and had eaten all her canned food and some kibble.
As soon as I tried to get her in the cat carrier, she went crazy and literally climbed the walls and knocked the curtains off the window.
Using lots of towels and after getting bitten on both hands I was able to get her into the carrier to release back into the empty lot next door.

There is NO way this kitty could be tamed and made into a pet. But at least she can't have more homeless kittens.
I'm going to keep feeding her.

I poured peroxide on my bites right away but my left wrist REALLY hurts and I can barely move it without pain.
You can't tell in the picture but it is swollen.
I never realized how useful both wrists are until now. Fortunately we opted to get her a rabies vaccine when she was spayed so I don't have rabies!

Ali and Bruce are feeding me tonight so at least I don't have to make dinner.</div>

    </a>
										<div>I have this scanner/printer that I've been using as a copier since I have a printer already.

Today I finally decide to install the software and hook it up to my laptop so I can print my christmas cards on it.
I have a TON of plugs and wires and cords for various cameras and modems and routers, but for the life of me I CAN NOT find the firewire that goes to THIS printer.
I have one for the other HP printer but of course that doesn't fit on this HP printer. ARgggggg!
Why do they make even the power plug different for each printer. Why don't they just make them interchangeable, especially if it's the same brand? Why doesn't my Samsung charger work on all Samsung phones but only works for this PARTICULAR MODEL?

Last week it cost me $64 dollars to replace the color and b/w ink on one printer. $64 DOLLARS!! Doesn't that seem like price gouging?
I understand it's good for their business model but the least they could do is have a universal ink for all their printers and not different ink cartridges for each and EVERY model. I mean there's a whole aisle just for HP printer ink at the computer store.
These cartridges don't even last that long. And shaking them doesn't work. When one of my jobs included buying office supplies, whenever the toner for the copier needed replacing, I would take it out and give it a good shake and it was good for another 100 copies.
I don't like wasting money, even if it's not mine.
If the proper cord is not found, I'll just have to use the regular printer.
So if my Christmas cards come out shitty, you'll know why.</div>

    </a>
										<div>The first day went by with surprisingly little cravings, but I couldn't tell if it was because of the needles that I had poked all over my head and spine or the fact that I spent $88 and I didn't want it to go to waste.

Yesterday was a little more difficult and I almost went to buy one of those peach flavored cigarellos to tide me over.
I've tried to smoke those occasionally to wean myself from cigarettes but it doesn't work since they are full of nicotine as well.

Anyway it's Friday and I have no plans. Usually there are things to do but I don't want to leave my house.

Check out my shiner! I thwarted a robbery and ended up with a black eye. Or how I got beaten up by a 14 –year-old girl!

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/jaew/blog/9a502330-e2fb-47a6-a88b-61fb9ebbcbdd">  						          <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/673/ecb/673ecbae-2981-462f-9530-a5e64bfff88d.thumb" width="65" height="59" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>I’ve actually never been in a fist fight and this is my second black eye in my LIFE. The first one I got in the 9th grade during a field hockey match from an opponent’s stick. I was kind of proud of it because it was a sports injury and while my friends wore ace bandages and knee braces from various sporting injuries, this was my first one. I suck at sports and never got put in the game for very long.
Here’s what happened:

On Sunday afternoon I walked out my front door to read the paper on my stoop and saw four kids on bikes (one girl age @14 and three boys age from 9-12) in front of my neighbors garage. One was dragging his bicycle out.
I said, “Hey kids! What are you doing?”
One of them said, “We’re stealing your bike bitch!’
The bike was way too big for the boy to ride so he dragged it away and I guess one of the others had the boy’s bike. I chased them around the corner and the boy with the stolen bike dropped it and ran. I went to pick up the bike when the girl came back and grabbed the bike from me and said, “You’re not taking that bike.” I didn’t let go so she started to punch me in the head and kick me in the legs. She was really vicious and those blows hurt.
An older couple from the neighborhood came in their pick-up truck and the lady was yelling while the man tried unsuccessfully to get her off of me. Then two large men from came over from their house and pulled her off. One of the men told the kids to get out of there.

The older couple put the bike in their truck and I grabbed the helmet and lock from the street and went back to my street. My neighbor was in front of his garage and he had no idea what happened. He said he had left the garage open for two minutes as he was showing his contractor something around back. He called the police and we filed a report, a police technician also came to photograph the scratches on my leg and the bruises on my face. While waiting for the police I asked one of the kids on the block if he knew who the girl was and where she lived. He told me she lived on West and 21st so after signing the report I got into the police cruiser with the office to look for the girl.
We didn’t’ find her but he told me to call if I see her.

At this point I was P-O PISSED! I walked around for about 30 minutes looking for her because I though I’d better find her before she changed clothes and was harder to identify. I asked groups of people hanging out in the neighborhood and they all seemed familiar with her but couldn’t tell me where she lived. A few lied and said she used to live near here but had moved.

About 3 hours later I got in my car and drove around and spotted her with a group of kids three blocks from my house and one block from the “incident”. I stopped my car and called the police, the women who answered the phone was a real bitch but I managed to tell her to please send someone quickly so I didn’t lose this girl. When I got out of the car, the “little girl” said, “Why are you here? The person got his bike back didn’t he? I’m a kid and you’re a grown woman. You should just let it go.”
I said, “there’s no way I’m going to let this go, little girl!”
She started to threaten me and then when I didn’t back off, she walked down the street. I followed her and she went to her house! I saw a woman outside and asked her if this was her daughter. I told her what happened and the girl said, she didn’t steal the bike but the boy did. I said, “but you came back for the bike and did this to my face.”
The police came again and asked if I wanted to have her arrested, I said, hell yes! It was a different set of officers so I had to tell them the details of what happened. Since she is a minor and her mother was there, she only got a desk appearance ticket. I don’t know what that means but the police said, if she doesn’t appear she would be arrested.
I said to the mother that if this is what she’s doing at 14, it was a slippery slope to disaster. The reason I went to all the trouble of filing a report as because I really want this girl to learn a lesson. This is their neighborhood too, do they want to live in a place where people steal from their neighbors and assault people who try to stop them? What’s next for her? Breaking and entering? Armed robbery?

I’ve been thinking a lot about this girl and I hope that her mother let her know how serious this is and that somehow this can be a turning point for her. I was actually harboring fantasies of being sort of mentor to her and maybe helping her with her homework or whatever but living in this neighborhood I’ve already found that I have to set boundaries with people on being nice but not to the point of being taken advantage of.

There is a woman on my street that I give cigarettes or a beer to whenever she asks, but when she rang my doorbell at 1:00 AM to ask for a dollar. I told her No, I would not give her a dollar because I didn’t want to set a prescident. This is something I’ve learned from the past, that once you give that first dollar, they will be back at your door again and again.

Anyway, chasing after those kids, I would do it again. If it were a stranger’s bike on the street and I saw someone stealing it, I would do the same thing. I once intervened when I saw a guy who was pounding the head of another guy into the sidewalk. Someone said to me, how do you know he doesn’t have a good reason for pounding his head into the sidewalk? He may have had a reason but he could have killed him, and I wasn’t going to stand by and watch it like the others. It’s just who I am.

The film is called "Future Bar of the Future". We drew SciFi on Friday night and started setting up the shoot at 7:00 AM on Saturday morning at Julie's Supper Club - the Future Bar of the Future.

The second set of photos is at the House of Shields on New Montgomery Street, San Francisco.
You can clearly see the lighting difference at the "Future Bar" and the contemporary bar at House of Shields.

The first location we had to be out by 4:30PM and the second location we couldn't start until after closing at 2:00 AM.

We had 33 people on the cast and crew! This is a lot of people to keep track of when some of the extras are strangers recruited from the sidewalk and you're working on little sleep. That's why I had to run around Sunday faxing at Kinko's and meeting people at their apartments and elsewhere to get releases signed that I missed. 48HFP will not accept films that do not have a liability release for every single person involved, plus location releases, music releases and talent releases for all 22 people in front of the camera AND we had two SAG actors which involved another 15 page release.

It was fun though!

    </a>
										<div>The good news is that they moved out this morning, only a day after the eviction was filed. I have no doubt in my mind that writing about them on tribe pressured them to move. However, they did leave some tokens of their esteem. They glued the doors shut, they clogged up every single drain with what I discovered is casting resin, they unassembled all the smoke alarms and took every single light bulb. They also stole the brand new carpet that I purchased for the bedroom.

Light bulbs and carpets can be replaced but I don’t know how much damage the resin has done to my pipes. If anyone can recommend a good plumber to look into it, please let me know. I don’t doubt that Roadie learned this trick and used it at the last place he was evicted from. What kind of person even thinks of these things?

Nervous about the plumbing repair but relieved nonetheless.
Thank you so much for all the support and concern you have given me.

My dream has become a nightmare!

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/jaew/blog/af5a5ec8-40e0-458b-922f-e34aae77f160">  						          <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/cff/5d9/cff5d9cd-616b-4c65-83f1-86ebea656e0a.thumb" width="52" height="78" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>My dream has turned into a nightmare. I was so happy about my new house and hopeful about the future but now that has turned into a nightmare or a horror film like “Pacific Heights” or something. I agreed to rent my house to Beca and Roadie because I thought they were a part of a group of people that I hold in high esteem. I was happy to rent to people that knew people I knew. Well, that was a big mistake. After I had already given them the keys and they had moved some furniture in, I found out they were bad news. Little did I know how bad. Beca lied to me and told me that he had a job and that she was taking care of a child. I thought I would give them a chance even though I was advised that I should tell them to move out right away. I soon realized that neither of them had jobs and obviously no money since they used duct tape for car windows. Also Roadie told me himself that they are in a Master/Slave relationship and that he was the Master and she the Slave and it was their relationship 24/7. Then she told me that Roadie hardly left the apartment because he had agoraphobia. By the end of April it was clear to me that I had to ask them to move. In an owner occupied house, I don’t have to have a reason for eviction. Although they had paid the first month’s rent, it was clear to me that neither had jobs or any source of money and that they would not be able to pay the rent. I told them that I wanted them out, and then they stopped speaking to me. Beca did however text me to say that they had put a down payment on a place. This turned out to be a lie. But I really wanted to believe it. But they continued to avoid talking to me. They also responded by keeping all the lights on day and night, the heat on full blast with the doors open and for a few days, running the water non-stop so that I couldn’t even shower properly because I pay all the utilities for their apartment. I tried to reason with them with kind emails and told Beca that she still had friends that cared about her and that I didn’t think she was a bad person but that she was in a bad relationship.

She responded to that, so I asked her to promise me that they would be out by the end of May and that I would not file the eviction after the 3 Day notice since it would cost me money and be on their permanent record. She said, that as far as she knew they would be out by the first or earlier but couldn’t promise until she spoke to the landlord again.
Again I wanted to believe it but thought it was odd that they still refused to talk to me.
Finally I spoke to her as she was getting into her car and I said "are you going to be out by the end of the month?" I asked if she had a place to move into and she said, that it was none of my business. I said but it is, because if you’re not out, I’m in big trouble and than she said, I was responsible for the trouble I was in and that I should take responsibility.
Than I knew that they had no plans of moving out and they were planning to stay in my home as long as they could get away with it. I even called her parents to try to get some help but they told me that she wouldn’t listen to them and her brother told me I should do what I needed to do to get them out. I haven’t filed the official eviction hoping against hope that they were telling the truth about moving out.

I spend the last two nights unable to sleep so I went to try to speak to them very early this morning and Roadie (I found out his real name is Joseph Timko) said, that I should have filed the eviction because now they had 30 more days and they would be here for 6 months. He then told me that he would hurt me if I bothered them again, followed by evil laughter.

I didn’t feel threatened previously but now I really feel afraid of having them in my house and there’s nothing I can do about it until I file the eviction and go through the whole process. Plus my 81-year-old Dad is coming to visit me this month. This is a friggin nightmare!!!

Gorilla Repair or Body Shop?

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/jaew/blog/f208f3ea-de75-4ecc-ab61-0a86fb9fc3bd">  						          <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/feb/f36/febf3660-230c-467a-bff2-e9ef18b72d15.thumb" width="65" height="48" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>Well if you've read my blog, several weeks ago I had another "incident" with my car which left a big dent on my driver's side door.
The more I think about it I think it was the other driver's fault and that's why she was so willing to let it go without exchanging information.

I wouldn't mind driving around with a dent if my car was old, but it doesn't even have 6000 miles on it.
Yesterday I decided to go to Uptown Body Shop in Oakland to get an estimate for repair.
The door panel would have to be replaced and they quoted me $1200, 3-4 days for repair.

As I was driving home from the body shop, a car pulled up next to me and beeped. The guys in the car said, "hey you know the dent you have in your car? We can fix that for you." I pulled over to get their information and they told me they could fix it in one day for $650. They have pictures at http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/aos/309615112.html.

They are located at 98th Avenue but they said they could come to my house with all their equipment and fix it.

What do you think? Should I ltrust these guys? Or should I just wait and have it fixed at a reputable body shop?</div>
