Philip K. Dick is often seen rubbing literary elbows with HG Wells and Jules Verne when eating sandwiches and smoking Havanas at the best science fiction writer's cafe in the world. This may surprise some upon first glance, especially when examining the life of the person in question, who upon first glance might appear rather ordinary. How could such a person, without college education or even a successful career become a prime candidate for such credit and prime gourmet turkey for Hollywood directors? The answer took me a while to figure out due to it's subtlety. It is rather simple though and is the hallmark of any distinguishable word smith.

Dick got his membership card through his perspective.

Such an alien viewpoint both captivates and lures the reader further into the story. What first appears as a normal situation quickly turns into a situational mystery, leaving the reader unsure of himself. This is has a very captivating and highly seductive effect upon the mind.

It's also rather addictive. By being neither objective nor subjective, the reader is left without much to identify with in this strange place. New rules expose themselves, and it both inspires and stimulates the imagination.

So now I ask my question. If you were to travel, into an alternate universe, what would your purpose be? Pure pleasure and fun, something for the adventurous spirit? Or maybe it would be one of scientific curiosity? Would you have something specific in mind? Some kind of of activity or goal maybe... Perhaps you would bring something back! If so, what would that be?

- If one was to engage in an adventure, there would be little to no real concern or need to plan such a thing, instead of the destination, it would be the experiencing and figuring out of the destination that would be the purpose. How might you go about that, tracking where you are? What strategies would you use? What "tools" (both literal and non-literal) might you use to assist you?

- If one was to engage in a voyage of scientific inquiry, some kind of map would be desirable, some way to track the differences between worlds would also be favorable. There might also be some kind of additional preliminary purpose to this kind of voyage. What might that be? What tools are available now?

- If one was to engage in a kind of crusade or quest... then there would be a goal as well. One might also wish to bring back a "relic", such as was exhibited in "Back to the Future." The common sports almanac worth little to any notice to the inhabitants there, is priceless when brought back. It this scenario (which i find the most interesting personally), one engages in a travel to go someplace to find something which is back home, very rare or valuable. But is commonplace in the new setting. What kind of relics would be most desirable when taking this kind of voyage? This is a virtually endless list that can contain anything from a priceless prophetic comic book describing the end of the world, to a trivial hunting trophy of the extinct dodo bird. What can you think of?

Hmm... Please tell me, what kind of traveler are you and what would the purpose of your travel be. I'm looking forward to what others have to say.

Gaining a glimpse of the world above is a lot harder than examining or traveling into the world below. greater worlds are dynamic in scope and operate on such large levels that can leave the observer feeling perplexed, minuscule and utterly helpless at times. smaller worlds can be accessed experienced more quickly and fully. Cognitively, they are more approachable and easier to "deal" with...

However, when dealing with these larger worlds, one can encounter new kinds of information that do not correlate in the "one to one" scientific methology which we are used to. This is due to the fact that these worlds are outside the currently observable system. They are not being observed in the same manner that you would observe, say a leaf (smaller world) which would of course be, a local observation. Any holographic construct is nothing more than a self repeating pattern, albeit rather large... A leaf repeats itself, as do craters within craters within craters (ad infinitum) on the moon. Thus much information is experienced, and can overwhelm and disorient (and at worst, make paranoid, as one might draw the conclusion that we are involved deep within some kind of theistic pyramid scheme). Belief gains a foothold at this point. We keep to the "1 to 1" correlation of local observations, making up and filling in the cracks. What happens is some of the information will respond in the classic "1 to 1" correlation, while others, will not. this is due to the abstraction of the greater world, becoming downgraded into a smaller world. Like a high fidelity audio recording being copied onto cassette tape, not everything is captured in translation. Many of the things which might be lost are unique to a particular system, and do not function in the same particulars in lower regions of a cantor set. More emanations of a cantor set allow for more unique circumstances (many worlds), ad infinitum.

What can be pieced together about these non local territories can only come from what we already know (scientific knowledge gathered through observation of patterns). This continues until there comes a "dew-point" (holographic condensation), of patterning and voila! Now you can "see" the craters above within the craters below from within a crater yourself through the use of metacognitive construction.

Grand to say the least.

The attached image well illustrates the nature of Polymorphic chaos as it breaks free of the 1-to-1'ness.
