what
Urban Bioregional Animist
Mon, April 7, 2008 - 9:59 AMOnly, on saturday morning no cars would stop for me. My thumb felt no special tingle in it at all. Sissy Hankshaw would have been dissappointed in me! :(
So I came back to my apartment. 15 stories up. And held ceremony here.
As it was meant to be.
I had to dig through 15 floors of apartments, 2 of parking and assorted layers of sewers, electrical lines, and assorted infrastructure before getting to talk to Her, Pachamamita.
And she had lots to say. So much to teach. That she is here as much as anywhere else, mountain or city, all same.
She showed me what it feels like to have your bloodstream, your rivers dammed up; showed me what it feels like to have people blow you up to get copper and other minerals; showed me what it feels like to have concrete dropped on top of you, preventing you from breathing. Turns out it hurts, a lot.
She asked me to do some things for her. Turns out I've got a lot of work ahead.
She helped me explore my own being. Turns out I've been doing good work, and there's not much left of this particular phase of my development.
She kept insisting, seriously, that two separated eagles must reunite for important things to happen in the future. "Two tribes, one path?", she asked me. And it seemed silly. One must submit like a wolf-cub for the good of the pack. I think we know who.
She was so happy to hear my voice, feel me there, that someone, through all this chaos and mayhem hears her, directly. She invited me to dance eternally, and reminded me that the party can go on forever, if only we take care of her too.
At all the right moments Tiuque sang to me. And then a large bird of prey flew by my window. Maybe Eagle, but I believe some kind of Hawk, like you don't see in the valley. And Tiuque was right behind it.
It felt good to introduce myself to the spirits here. 15 stories up, in the midst of cement, clay and glass, yet right next to the source.
I sat in bodhisatva like peace, as the River Ganges, the River of Life flowed by, and Inti Taita shown on me and San Pedro.
This is what I feel it means to be an urban bioregional animist. Here or there, valley or mountain, Her heartbeat's the same.

With those words of yours shared I'm certain that if I ever get the chance to be with Her through San Pedro, it's a brother like you I'd want to journey with. Your character is so transparent, your heart and self so visible and comes shining through in your words. You reveal yourself effortlessly and fearlessly as though your trust in who you are is at ease inside you.
No kidding Jav, it's an honor to know you. |
