Today's (techie) Pearl of Wisdom

Don't clear your cache or it would be real hard to log back in to Tribe.

When your profile is in the cache, your puter draws it from there and it loads & connects much easier.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following option takes a few short minutes to do and is a lot better than an hour of frustration when you can't log in:
Alternatively, you could tell your browser to allow accessing the page "Offline", when you do that it saves that page in the puter and even if you clear the cache, it's still there. Some browser allow this option (See Help on your browser).
Yet another option is this:
If you want to "lighten the load" without deleting the Tribe.net files take these few simple steps:
** Go to "Temporary Internet Files" on your puter
** View Files> Details
** Arrange files according to "Internet Address"
** Delete all other files except the ones for Tribe.net
Tips, Tricks, Ploys & Shenanigans to Make Tribe.net Work Better 4 U
Here's some tips & tricks that might make navigating tribe.net easier for you. Until tribe.net servers decide to get back to normal, I’m resorting to ruse & deception to trick the servers and it seems to be working ....
They're simple but useful, things go a tad smoother & much faster,
AND ...... the good news is that you can pull these stunts too, .... all free of charge during our 30 Days Trial period ....
Have Fun ....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENERAL TIPS:

** Use a browser that let’s you stay logged in, even when you close the browser

** Try to use the URL addresses (in the address bar) instead of using links, icons or the drop down menus, in my experience using direct URL addresses work much better.

** Once you type in an address your browser remembers it so next time you can just pull it down from the address bar and click on it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
LOGGING IN:
I dont log out these days. but if I have to log in when I come back, I try one of the following links, if one doesn’t work I use the next one:
http://sanfrancisco.tribe.net
http://sanfrancisco.tribe.net
http://California.tribe.net
http://phoenix.tribe.net/home
http://california.tribe.net/home
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MESSAGES
Sometimes I can’t access my Inbox messages thru the icons & links

So I use the following alternative addresses & they work real fast (your address might be slightly different, you need to experiment with it a bit):

http://sanfrancisco.tribe.net/messages
http://sanfrancisco.tribe.net/template/messages%2CInbox.vm?page=1

http://sacramento.tribe.net/template/messages%2CInbox.vm

http://sacramento.tribe.net/template/messages%2CFiltered.vm

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLOG, PHOTO ALBUM, Etc.
You can find alternate addresses for your blogs etc and use them instead of using the links or drop down menus.
Examples from my profile (use your own unique URL addresses)
http://people.tribe.net/javaartist
http://people.tribe.net/javaartist/blog
http://people.tribe.net/javaartist/photos
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

NOTE

** You can Right Click on the links on this blog, copy them
and then use them in your address bar, change them accordingly
to match your profile addresses.
(for example for your blogs use
http://Your URL/blog )

I want to thank each and every one of you who posted to my previous blog. Your words meant a lot to me, I'm fortunate to have friends like you.

I'm sorry for the loss of those of you who have been through this.

I got Pepper's ashes yesterday. It's the first time that something like this happened in front of my eyes, he had a stroke, it was so violent that my other cat ran to the yard, I'll save you the gruesome details ... Earlier that day he had a blood transfusion but it didn't help, his own body was destroying the blood cells.

Thanks again , sorry if I can't write personal notes to each one of you.

My pal, my friend of many years, is dead ... He died a painful death...

It happened suddenly, without any warnings , in a matter of a few days .... So sudden that it's very hard for me to adjust .... I never knew his loss would affect me this much ... it doesn’t matter how strong you are and what you've been through in life ... if you're not ready for something like this, then it really hits you in a big way.

He was a big breed cat, he looked more like a black leopard cub than a cat. but he was a 'gentle giant' and very affectionate .... In a few days and after going to 3 different hospitals (the first one, my regular vet of many years rejected him because we didn't have an appointment), he died after midnight in an emergency hospital.

What the Heck is Going On This Week?

I’ve been reading some blog entries here on tribe, written by my friends, and I see a lot of anxiety, angst and anger, generated by bad events that are happening to a lot of good people ...

Bad things are happening to friends who are dear to me ...

What is going on this week?

It must be just a coincidence ... and a temporary one ... I hope ...

I had my share of unhappy times in the last few years, most of it happened to my immediate family and deeply affected me too ... things you would not want to know about, incredible things ... it seemed that storms were raging all around me (and some still are), the kind of storms that you only see in the movies or the ones that ‘only happen to other people’ ...

Some of them so intense, shocking and unbelievable ... I still have a hard time grasping them ... I hope someday I have the opportunity (and the courage) to write about them to the whole world. It’s going to be hard because it involves other people’s private lives ...

But I guess that’s what life sometimes is ... Life has a side that is dark and macabre and unbelievable and full of uncertainty ...

the sad truth is that we are mortal creatures, real people who live in a moment in time, a moment stretched over several decades ... a moment of good and not so good events ...

We ride a wave between two tides and the best we can do is to minimize the pain and the agony and try to maximize the ecstasy (as much as we can) and ride it with some joy ... as hard as it may be at times ...

My heart goes to all of you who are having a tough time ... each and every one of you are in my thoughts ...

I have much to do tonight, so I’m not gonna let the grammar Nazi in my head to take over ... I hope words didn’t fail me and I could say to you what I wanted to say ...

I’ll know after I read it tomorrow with a clear head ...

Someone who happens to be on my network here on tribe posted a blog about 911. I found the language more than a tad harsh especially because so many people died during the 911 tragedy.

Here’s some excerpts:

“THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS OSAMA BIN LADEN. HE IS A MYTH INVENTED BY
THE ASS KING [G.W.] AND HIS CRONIES
TO KEEP YOU AMERICAN PUSSY'S LIVING IN BUSH BASED FEAR ...

YOU CUNTING AMERICAN SLIT HEADS. ARE YOU WILLING TO GIVE YOUR LIFE
FOR WHAT YOU STAND FOR [?]
I KNOW YOUR NOT, YOU [are] OVER FED, OVER FUCKED, OVER SENSITIZED,
OVER PROTECTIVE, OVER DIGITAL STUPID MORONS.”

I ended up writing a couple of comments in response.

Everybody has the right to keep or delete comments on their blog, so when I saw that he had deleted my comments it didn't bother me at all. But I thought it might be a good idea to post my deleted responses here. My goal is not to make the point that deleting my entries was wrong. Not at all. As I said he was perfectly within his rights to do that.

I’m only posting this because it contains some of those precious ‘Pearls of Wisdom’ that I periodically manufacture, thanks to an overactive pituitary gland (or some as yet unknown tumor or glandular malfunction in my body).

The comment about my family is very true though.

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Deleted Response Numero Uno

>>Here's my two cents:

I don't agree with the policies of this administration, in fact I find some of the policies very harmful to America and American people in the short and long run...

But when I see someone , whoever they may be, is battered and verbally abused this way, in my heart of hearts that person becomes a victim. If an idea is attacked relentlessly then it becomes more important.

It's a natural human reaction.

An example: Let’s say I’m having an argument with someone who did something very terrible to me; If I start yelling at the top of my lungs ad keep cursing and verbally abusing them, all of a sudden, in the eyes of everyone who is watching, they start looking like the innocent victim and I become the aggressor. It might help me to vent but it’s not going to help my cause.

So, these are today’s pearls of wisdom:

*** A little ‘finesse’ goes a long way.

*** Ideas / social movements are hurt by emotionalism more than anything else.

*** Sometimes you can hurt your ideas / opinions by defending them the wrong way. (Or: Defending your opinions the wrong way is self-defeating.)

*** A careless foe (of GW for example) can often do more good for them than a 1000 friends. :) >>

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Deleted Response Número Deux:

>>So that you know why I'm posting to this blog twice: Some of my family members were victims of terrorism, so I know first hand how painful and REAL it can be.

I don't agree with some extremists in our country who try to create a culture of fear and limit the individual rights, but 911 was a great tragedy inflicted on America by Al-Qaida terrorists.

Osama is very much real, ask Christine Amanpour and other reporters who have personally interviewed him. We had a great opportunity to capture him at Torah Borah but we missed that. <<

Legalese / Artistic Disclaimer (Re-post):

Dearest Visitor:
I looked at the photos on three different monitors and it's amazing how much difference the monitor can make ; especially the photos that have a darker background and nuances of light are very important.

When I look at the photos on the flat monitor with the bright, vivid colors some photos look like an electronic postcard. On the screen of a regular laptop or uncalibrated chunky monitor, colors (and darker shades of gray) don't look very exciting...

So, if you don't get excited and you don't end up dancing on your feet after you see the photos, then it must be your monitor's fault, not mine!!

Your pineapple tries to eat my warped speed because monkeys have warped faces from laughing at your ugly plant-like tyrannosaurus rex with miniaturized teeth that hookers try licking because it makes transsexual cats cringe enormously before digesting dogs who like to run on napalm, almonds, and flying super-sighted samurai's katanas when the terrorists spin into underground gerbils that bite your president and agnostic, hermaphroditic, necrophiliac wolf that jumps over radioactive, confused fish, unlike his brother who is smoldering hot from stroking his dog really roughly with a toilet brush made from lubricated bottles of liquidated carrots and unbelievably dry skin made me want a drink after watching your show of extremely provocative and hedonistic piracy while openly prognosticating about Bush's sardonic shaply head giving foul smelling pus, which makes a disturbing image of Laura's mum's home-made apple trees which look like watery snuffaluffagusses from a crazy-paved moonlit field of sticky and enormous, ungainly caterpillars

... Then laughter is its queen

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We skipped the light fandango
Turned cartwheels cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
But the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale
She said, there is no reason
And the truth is plain to see.
But I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might have just as wellve been closed
She said, Im home on shore leave,
Though in truth we were at sea
So I took her by the looking glass
And forced her to agree
Saying, you must be the mermaid
Who took neptune for a ride.
But she smiled at me so sadly
That my anger straightway died
If music be the food of love
Then laughter is its queen
And likewise if behind is in front
Then dirt in truth is clean
My mouth by then like cardboard
Seemed to slip straight through my head
So we crash-dived straightway quickly
And attacked the ocean bed
You have a wonderful smile, that means you're beautiful both inside and out ... (replace ‘beautiful’ with ‘handsome’, for males ... just cuz we don’t want anybody to feel left out!)
Great! it worked, the test was successful ... looks like I can say nice things again !
I'm outta bed folks ... after more than a week ...
Heat is not kind to me (it’s actually atrocious to my senses) that's true, but it wasn't just the August weather that got to me, it was also exhaustion , felt very tired, ill, and out of energy ... headaches and all.
