Hey all,

I would really appreciate it if you can take the time to visit this page and bump my new tune Time Flux on thesixtyone.

http://www.revolutionvoid.com/2008/04/first-track-off-new-album-released.html

I posted it to thesixtyone.com which is kind of a unique music sharing site and allows its users to give points to songs they like. I just signed up a month ago but am hoping to get my tracks higher in the electronic and jazz ranks. So, if you're a fan of R.V., you can do me a big favor and bump my tracks there! :)

###

For immediate release.

File under: Electronic Jazz

The latest single from Revolution Void, Effects of Elevation, has been released under a Creative Commons license granting free online distribution.

The 3-song single features an original track by Revolution Void along with remixes by Citizen Prime and Sevenless.

Citizen Prime's remix combines a house groove with piano and bass solos on top. The airtight 4-to-the-floor rhythm propels the song as it progresses through solos, breakdowns and builds.

The Sevenless remix incorporates IDM, glitch and industrial genres, while retaining a distinctive sound. The remix begins slowly, eventually building into epic proportions with a guitar-laden breakbeat chorus.

Combining electronic breaks with jazz improvisation, Effects of Elevation is a unique example of the interesection where modern jazz and modern electronic music meet.

The release features guest musician Matthew Garrison on bass. Matt is known for his work with Herbie Hancock, Joe Zawinul and others. Additionally, track 3 features vocal samples by Ill-esha, known for her work as both a DJ and vocalist.

It is available for full download as variable-bitrate MP3 from the Revolution Void homepage, as well as OurMedia and the Internet Archive.

Printable cover art accompanies the release, illustrated and designed by Yuriko Miyamoto.

http://spaces.msn.com/members/soundblog/Blog/cns!1pXOS7l93k8mqeQ7FlEEmOSQ!1459.entry

Dave's Imaginary Sound Space (DISS) is a site by Dave Holmes, that covers such topics as (in his own words) "digital audio & music, podcasting, video, multimedia, open content tools, & sundry exotic web references." Sounds like that covers just about everything interesting about the internet. ;) Definitely my kind of site ...

Check out the great review of Increase the Dosage:

"Revolution Void is a music project that blends electronic styles with live improvisation. The project is masterminded by the talented young producer, jazz pianist and DJ Jonah Dempcy who describes the combination of improvised jazz, funk and hip-hop as 'electronic breakbeat jazz'.

'Increase The Dosage' is an 11 track album currently distributed under a Creative Commons license. Originally released on CD in the spring of 2004, 'Increase The Dosage' is now widely available online for free legal download including album artwork.

The line-up of accomplished musicians weave an intricate framework of danceable instrumental arrangements. Journey through soundscapes of down-to mid-tempo tracks with funky syncopated breakbeats, dub and funk bass lines, DJ cuts and scratches, improvised sax and trumpet solos, moody jazz keyboards and occasional vocal parts. This is quality music with attitude and direction that is sure to get plenty of attention from podcasters and the P2P community. Check the website out for more Revolution Void music and collaborations."

Wow .. I'm truly honored. Thanks, Dave!

Then, the site Knobtweakers (http://www.knobtweakers.net/) picked up on it, and had this to say:

"Revolution Void combines electronic music with live jazz improv. The result is unique, organic, expressive, and inspiring. This is virtuoso electronica of stunning caliber."

Following the success of Harvey Danger's release of their newest album in a graphical web-package, I was inspired to re-release my latest album, Increase the Dosage, in a similar manner.

Increase the Dosage was released the public via a Creative Commons license back in April 2005 without any graphics. I had originally intended to release the album art with the CD, as an incentive for people to buy the disc when it comes out. But, I decided to go ahead and release the album art anyway.

Enjoy! :)

Shawn Wolfe's work combines pop-culture aesthetics witha healthy disdain for the rampant commercialism and consumerism so prevalent today. Add his spot-on design sensibility and the result is eye-catching artwork that also functions as social commentary. Wolfe's wry sense of humor is apparent in "Too much of a good thing," shown here.

A Scanner Darkly, dir. by Richard Linklater

One of my favorite authors of all time is Philip K. Dick, so I'm always excited to see new film adaptations of his books. This time, I'm doubly excited because Richard Linklater is directing it, and doing it in the same rotoscopic style as his previous effort, Waking Life.
Rotoscoping is when the actors are filmed and then animated over, in this case with a fresh hand-drawn style that borders on psychedelic. See for yourself:

This is an article I took part in that appeared in the UW Daily paper back in 1999. I just found the archived version online and thought I would share it with you. The topic of the article was a lack of venues for young people to enjoy music. Check out that funky pic of me, doing some pressure-point neck. (?)

Enter a watercolor world where Japanese mythology comes to life, and a mysterious wolf-god has the power to change the landscape with the stroke of a brush. No, it's not a dream, it is in fact a new Playstation 2 game called Okami. It was debuted in demo form at the recent Tokyo Game Show, and has impressed even the most jaded gamers, yielding reviews such as 'perhaps the most beautiful game ever to grace a console.'

What is so special about it is that the 3D-rendering has a watercolor, hand-painted feel to it. Furthermore, at any point, the player is allowed to freely paint on the screen at any time, and at certain times in the game it is required to progress. (For instance, painting in a bridge over a river). See the latest trailers at:

If you haven't checked it out already, go on over to http://video.google.com and see the latest *legal* method for digital video distribution, Google Video.

Google Video offers a massive searchable database of video clips, all standardized to be played in Flash. Although you can't save the clips (without a mod), the upside to using the Flash player is that loading time is virtually instantaneous, and you're guaranteed that every clip will play, without having to install additional codecs.

And, if that isn't enough, Google Video has gained some interest from TV producers. The makers of "Everybody Hates Chris," the new Chris Rock show, have allowed the pilot episode of their show to be legally distributed through the network.
