DARLINGTON, S.C. (AP) — Kyle Busch just might have a little "Intimidator" in him.

Part 4: Troubled Waters

The fourth hour of Strange Days on Planet Earth examines the evidence that pollutants are being spread throughout the world's water systems and explores what we can do to remedy the problem.

Part 3: Predators

Deep in the wilds of Venezuela, the natural order is being turned inside out. Miles of savanna and verdant forest have given way to small, scattered islands. Some of these islands are now overrun by bands of howler monkeys, a glut of iguanas and hordes of ravenous ants. What's driving this bizarre transformation? and could it be linked to other mysterious events around the world?

I'm guessing my blogs title will soon be outdated. The Maxxam corporation seems to be on it's way out and the last hearing in the bankruptcy is scheduled for friday. It's still to soon for me to venture a guess at the outcome but it is nice to see that Maxxam/Pacific Lumber has abandoned their plan for a vast residential development in the hills of central Humboldt and are now backing the Mendocino Redwood/Marathon bid for the company. Disturbingly, the notorious clea... read more

The bankruptcy hearings on the reorganization of Pacific Lumber have taken another twist. The company asked for a break in court yesterday so that they can discuss what appears to be Pacific Lumber trying to come on board the MRC/Marathon plan. Not sure what is driving Pacific Lumber to do that other than the fact that their own reorg plan is "dead in the water" as Judge Schmidt put it. Perhaps this is what Pacific Lumber lawyer Frank Bacik alluded to when he said there would be an 11th hour ... read more
