Jeffrey's history in improv...
I started doing improv at faires in the mid '70's, then in the early '80s working out with members of Groundlings, Second City, LA Conn., MICE, et all..'did shows with the Comedy Omelette for a few years...we evolved into the Flying Penguins (I was Director), we became the core of the Varsitu Players for Los Angeles Theater Sports in 1989. 'stayed with LATS till about '92, and worked out for a year with Laugh Factory All Star Improv Jam (later aka "Wrought Irony")...and 'have done a few guest spots and "jams" with Second City Alumni and others. (I tried to get Theater Sports developed into a TV show back in 1989 with MTM Productions. Not knowing about the BBC's "Who's Line")

San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking has asked me to teach yet another round of this very popular class, and they've dropped the price!
WRITERS, DIRECTORS & ACTORS’ WORKOUT
An intensive yet fun workshop involving three filmmaking disciplines, writing, directing and acting, that will encourage a crossover of teamwork, networking, and the creative process.
Actors (intermediate to advanced level) will work with film directors and writers on camera.
Directors (all levels) will learn more about the acting process, develop the terms that actors understand in order to deliver their best performances on a film-set.
Writers (all levels) can bring in their pre-existing scripts and those in development to hear their words come to life by the Actors’ performance in class. This will help them develop their scripts further.
Directors and Writers will also have the opportunity to act themselves, to understand better what it feels like being on camera.
By working with the concepts and techniques of improvisation, action choices, beats, scene arcs and colors, all participating Actors, Directors and Writers will see their characters and stories come to life on camera.
All class-work will be videotaped and the writers & directors will retain a copy of it for their own records and further viewing.
Start date: April 1, 2009
Class time: Wednesdays, 6:30 - 9:30pm (8 weeks)
Instructor: Jeffrey Weissman
Prerequisite: Instructor's approval
Tuition: $240

I am about to start guiding another 8 week lab for writers, directors and actors at the San Francisco School of Difgital Filmmaking...the previous three 8 week sessions have had a resounding response from participants and they have been an overwhelming success in helping writers hear their work live and if truth resonates, beats work, transitions are clear, if story arch needs work, et all. Directors get hands on communication skills with actors of different techniques; Zen, Miesner, Checkov, Method, Le Qoc, Viewpoints, et all, and Actors get to work in a variety of different genres, from dramatic to comedy and with high caliber writers and directors, shooting 3 or 4 scenes every week.
We are currently enrolling for the next 8 weeks that starts Wed. eve Feb. 4

Jeffrey ROCKS!
He's a great actor, and a good man.
Not only is he very talented, but besids BEING a character, he HAS character. He's generous, and giving, both professionally & personally. He's considerate & takes care of his friends & community. He knows what family means in every sense of the word.
You'd be lucky to have Jeffrey as a friend.
I know I am! ;)

I think that I am very fortunate to know so many wonderful and talented folks and I am very glad to know Jeffery.
Delightfiully spritey and elf-like, there is that mischevious twinkle in his eye.
Jeffery has alwas made me feel welcome and loved, like I was right where I was supposed to be no question and for that I am very grateful.
I love to watch him entertain the crowds and I love to see him with his sons and I love that I got a chance to be on stage with him.
Once I was too high on too many compliments and he gently brought my little ego back down to earth right where it belongs and Im grateful for that too.
I hope to know Jeffery for many years to come and I hope that the frienship we have continues to grow and grow.
If you are among his friends count yourself blessed.
So There.

Jeffrey is a fantastic advocate for his friends and collaborators.
I look forward to wreaking havoc - I mean working - again with you soon!

Not only is Jeffrey one of the most talented actors I know... he is also a very charming and sweet friend. Working with him was a great experience and I hope we get to play together more often ;)

Jeffery is the clown prince of comedy. Not only can this man take on any character instantaneously, unbelievably well, he has the courage to make acting his first love and only career. His heart is as vast as his talent, and I am strikingly awed by his kindness. From Charlie Chaplin to George McFly to Touchstone the Fool, I am in wonder of his ability. Jeffery is a man I completely admire and I am also lucky enough to call him my friend.

The Mad Scientist of Clowns, the Arlequino of Life, a man who is either madly talented, or just entertainingly mad, and it doesn't really matter which. Being around him forces you to work harder, and makes sure you have more fun doing it. Bless him, I only wish I could spend more time with him. ~Fluffy
