For your consideration...

Hmmm...oooo...I love this - sacred and profane at the same time - much of how I feel at any given moment ;-)

about me
Formerly known on tribe as Fabala (diminutive for Elphaba - also known as the Wicked Witch of the West in the book 'Wicked') I'm an odditiy - a belly dancing Pastor's wife in the mid-west -oy! Strange but true. I arrived in Oh-hi-oh back in '02 - before that, I haunted the ancient Redwoods of the north coast of California...and I ache to return to my people (it's nothing personal...just a primal urge - like salmon returning to their spawning grounds.)

I love tribal style- especially neo-tribal styles that blend the carnivalesque and theatrical. I co-founded and served as artistic co-director of Sandstorm Middle Eastern Dance Company (www.sandstorm.us) and have moved on to form Raqdoll Dance Collective which pulls from many different performance disciplines (www.raqdoll.com) you can also visit my site: www.jenndances.com or check out my myspace blog at: www.myspace.com/jenndances

You are amazing. You've taken a life situation that was neither of your choosing nor expectation and have made not only lemonade, but lemon chiffon pie, lemon bars, lemon smoothies, lemon tea, and anything else you could possibly make with lemons, and then made them better than anyone else ever has.

Your dancing has come so very far since that first "sumo" bellydancer stance, and I am so proud of you.

Keep flying, dear one!

What '80's song would you bellydance to (or like to see bellydanced to)?

I'm bothered by 'bellydance' performances that are dominated by popping - it's not just one or two, but a plethora I've been seeing over the past few years. Yes, I do expect to see other dance forms presented in a fusion piece - but I also expect to see some belly dance as well. Tossing in a sprinkling of shimmies doesn't quite meet my expectation of fusion. I'm starting to feel like I'm watching popping/breaking/liquid dancers in bellydance costumes. It's beautiful, it's amazingly skilled... read more

I blanked a little on my drum solo (I wanted to add level changes). I also need to tighten up some of the movements - they felt a little loosey-goosey at times and I need to spend more time on working out combination's to improve my musicality. Overall though, I'm pleased.

Constructive criticism appreciated.
