</a>
<div>this week i'll be at shine with the freeform vs dubalicious crew. this is a special edition of their monthly, serving as a fundraiser for California Transplant Donor Network (ctdn.org). CTDN's mission is to save and improve lives through organ and tissue donation for transplantation in Northern California and beyond. even more exciting is that we are representing and sponsored by CTDN at LoveFest with an official float at the event on october 4th (which i will be playing on)! all funds raised will go back to CTDN for organ donation awareness and education. we are also selling AWESOME t-shirts to help raise money and help promote organ donation! you can buy them online or buy one at Shine next week! :) check the design out at:
http://www.negativethreads.com/FeelTheBeatShirtWomens.htm

this cause is very close to my heart as my dad was a liver transplant recipient in july 2003... and healthier than ever! ask me about my dad's miraculous recovery... i'm always happy to share that story. if you can't support us by making it to shine, or buying a t-shirt, or coming to lovefest... well then there is something you *CAN* do. choose LIFE... DONATE life... become an organ donor today! you can sign up at www.cdtn.org. believe it or not, i was not an organ donor when my dad fell ill, simply because i procrastinated. my dad's life was saved because someone took 3 minutes of their time to sign up to become an organ donor. don't wait... do it today! i mean NOW!!!!

9:00pm - 2:00am
$5 cover (100% of proceeds go to CTDN.org)

We are in the home stretch here as we approach LoveFest, and we are super excited because our float is going to be EPIC! The passion and enthusiasm that is coming out of our pores by promoting organ donation awareness mixed with great music and great vibes, will be thoroughly displayed on our float. This is something I can promise you we will deliver on:)

On Sept. 26th, our monthly party sees one last opportunity to fundraise for the float, inform about organ donation awareness, and promote our Lovefest float. ALL proceeds go back to the California Transplant Donor Network, who fully funded our float.

We thought it would be appropriate for our special guest dj this month to be one of our guest djs on the float, the always lovely and talented, DJ Shooey (The Deep End, djshooey.com). What is even more significant about having her is that her father is a liver recipient!

Please come on out and support this great cause, our party, and while your at it, dance to some seriously great music. As always, your resident djs fLOORCRAfT, Iyad, and Jonboy will be there to deliver the sounds you all love.

http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080506/MULTIMEDIA02/80505016

it's RIDICULOUS how many bags we use in the united states. even though SF banned plastic bags, that ONLY applies to the bigger chain stores. it does NOT apply to mom and pop shops or restaurants. don't take the bag if you don't need it... better yet, get your own bag! i bought 10 bags at safeway, and i keep some at home, some at the office, some in my car, some in my backpack, and some at jim's house. that way i'll always have one to use! they're super cheap and durable and you can use 'em for anything. i even bring them to target so i don't get more bags!

it's not ok to use paper just because it's recyclable.... it takes resources to recycle a paper bag as well!!! it irks me that SF banned plastic bags, but did not put a penalty on receiving paper bags. they should forget giving credit to people who bring their own bags... those people already have the habit to bring their bags so a reward doesn't do much. they should CHARGE people who choose NOT to bring their own bags. so what if you pay a couple cents for it... it might make people think twice about remembering to bring it back to the store to re-use.

i carry the bag in the photo around everywhere in the city! it's AWESOME!</div>

    </a>
<div>... i guess that just means i'm popular! :P (just kidding of course)

so tonight i'll be at 1015 playing in the front room for DJ Dreamteam. i wasn't chosen as top 10, but they invited me as an honoree since i made it into the top 30. yay! thanks to *YOU* who voted for me.

ah yes... i've heard it all... about how it's a popularity contest and blah blah blah. you know what? it doesn't bother me. i made it into the top 30 cuz... well damnit... people like me! what's so wrong with that? i've never claimed to be the perfect dj who NEVER train wrecks, or who NEVER plays a bad song, or who is technically superb to everyone else. i don't suck... i'm a good marketer... i'm a nice person and i have fun doing it. my friend BaLi once told me... DJ'ing is 30% skill.... 70% marketing! HA! :P i can't take it *that* seriously... it's a hobby and a damn fun one at that!

Any DJ's free this weekend, spin for a good cause?

<div>Any DJ's out there that are available this Saturday night/willing to spin for this cause?

My friend Becca's dear friend just found out that her 11-year old nephew is dying of cancer, and all of her friends are doing whatever we can to raise money so that Louis’s last months are enjoyable for him.

Here are the details (more as I get them…)

This Saturday Night - March 1st
SOMA live/work space (holds about 100 people)
Vinyl turntables (they're working on getting CDJs, but they don’t have any yet)
They have one principal DJ lined up already
They're looking for a 1-2 hour set, depending on how many DJs they get

** Below is the email I received from Becca, followed by an email from Louis’s mom, Rachel. **

------------------------------------------------
Dear friends and family,

I got some very sad news over the weekend. My good friend Judy’s 11-year old nephew Louis was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 7 and although he underwent surgery, a year of chemotherapy and radiation and was in relatively good health for the last 4 years, the tumor has returned and the prognosis is not good.

Rachel (Judy’s sister) and Judy are trying to raise money so that they can make the last months of Louis’s life more enjoyable. If you would like to donate money to this good cause, please read the email below for more details.

A fundraiser will also be held this Saturday and I will send out information on that as I get it.

Thank you,

Becca

--------------------------------------------------
Dear everyone,

Please forward this email to anyone who knows Louis and for whom I may not have contact information or to anyone who would be interested in this news. I know that I am missing email addresses for many of our family and friends and I apologize to anyone who gets this twice.

I am very sorry to tell you that I am writing because I have to share some bad news; I wish so much that this was not the case.
Louis has recurrence of Medulloblastoma in his brain stem and spine. Because this is a third relapse and because of the location and type of tumor growth his medical team feels that there are no further treatment options available. The brain stem is a small and highly sensitive area of the brain and it controls many of the major body functions, and the tumor growth in this area is
aggressive and diffuse and therefore not a candidate for cyberknife radiation treatment or surgery. It also appears that there may be many other smaller spots in various areas of the brain as well as down the spine.

Louis has chosen to start taking some chemotherapy in the hopes that it will slow down the progression of his illness and he will continue so long as it appears to help and as long as it does not make him feel too sick. The location of the tumor growth makes it very likely that Louis will begin to lose functionality quite soon and because of this we are hoping to fulfill as many of his wishes as possible in the immediate future. I am sorry that I cannot tell you exactly what to expect; this disease is not common enough to offer many example scenarios with which to compare Louis's situation so it is hard to extrapolate. His doctor feels that we should try to fit as many activities as possible into the next two months while he is feeling good.

Louis has a lot of wishes and much as I would like to fill them all this is just not possible. This has been a long hard journey for everyone and we just don't have much in reserves at this point. I would like to ask anyone and everyone to help make these next few months as fun and fulfilling as possible for Louis. You can do this by spending quality time with him - watching movies, playing video or board games, or by making a contribution to his wish fund. He would like to go to Disneyland and Hawaii, and he loves amusement parks. I would also like to be able to do the small things that he likes every day - like renting movies, ordering pizza, and other little treats that he likes but that add up over time. You can make a donation by clicking this link:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&amp;business=rachel_al%40hotmail%2ecom&amp;item_name=Louis&amp;no_shipping=0&amp;no_note=1&amp;tax=0&amp;currency_code=USD&amp;lc=US&amp;bn=PP%2dDonationsBF&amp;charset=UTF%2d8

Any and all donations will go directly towards making life good for Louis. All I want is for Louis to be as happy as possible, for as long as possible and anything/everything that you can do to help this happen is welcome and appreciated. I would like him to get everything that he wants, every day, for the rest of his life. I would like to thank all of you for being so supportive through all of this, for all of your good thoughts and kindnesses. Louis knows how lucky he is to have so many people who love him and your thoughts, assistance, efforts and visits are always welcome. Please help us take advantage of whatever time we have remaining to us.
Thank you so very much.

Love,
~Rachel &amp; Louis</div>

a memo from the office of the CEO

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/jennyshu/blog/3fcdf014-acea-436e-9b1a-8e63b89bc3d1"> <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/601/30d/60130d89-3c8a-4487-bc1c-e90418805800.thumb" width="64" height="78" alt="" />
    </a>
<div>this pisses me off. i work at a startup. i'm not a morning person. about 2-3 days a week, i am at the office til PAST 7pm. i work from home after working a full day at work about once a week. i'm not even allowed to run reports between 8-5pm because our systems are janky and it slows down our customer service department's ability to pull customer info during calls, so once a week i have to wake up at 6am to run reports. AND the engineers at the company are NOT held to this rule. it's bullsh*t that we **HAVE** to be in the office from 9-6 and we have MINUMUM hours. f*ck this. i'm going to start looking for a new job in march.

all my co-workers think i'm freaking out about nothing and overreacting. i guess i just don't like anyone telling me what to do. :P

&amp;lt;end rant>

below is the email sent from the CEO
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Team:

I have gotten feedback from many of you that we need to set Office Hours to insure that employees will be in the office in order to set meetings, etc. Many people are frustrated when they can’t get something done at 9am despite having been in the office themselves for an hour plus. I personally have been frustrated trying to track people down at 9:15 when they are still in route to the office.

I am going to recommend that office hours are 9am to 6pm. These are the minimum hours that employees should be in the office. With a lunch, this is only an 8 hour day so I would expect that people would likely come in earlier or stay later. But these are the hours that people should assume they have to be in the office.

If there are any concerns with this please email me directly. Otherwise, please notify your teams immediately. I was in SF at 9am today and less than half of our employees were here.</div>

<div>it *still* ANGERS me that the world decided to "award" china with the olympics given their abhorrent human/civil rights abuse. yes, our world DOES revolve around money and power. sad but true.

btw... no offense to anyone chinese... this is directly pointed *only* at the chinese government. nearly as f*d as our very own american government. who'da thunk we'd have so much in common? go obama!

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/jennyshu/blog/3e057fd7-2d83-4001-b012-06b13eb34fd7"> <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/d32/342/d3234227-e8e7-4e6e-a5f5-386997b0c9fc.thumb" width="65" height="33" alt="" />
    </a>
<div>i spend a lot of money and time at beatport. it's really not the best interface, and actually it drives me batty sometimes. it was about time i wrote a letter with some helpful suggestions to make my user experience that much better!

to those users of beatport, just thought i'd share my letter to them with you all...
........................................

I am an avid user of your website, and I love the depth of song selection on your site (could use a little more breaks though). I use it all the time and most of the music I DJ out is from your site. May I offer some suggestions...

1) Add wishlist capabilities to your site. Sometimes, I find songs I really like, but don't want to buy music at that specific moment since I usually buy songs of specific genres/sounds for specific gigs. Would be nice to have a wishlist so I can buy it at a later time.

2) PLEASE fix the Beatport Downloader (AIR doesn't work with your downloader anymore, no matter how many times I uninstall the old AIR version)! Or make something else that works. It's very cumbersome to download music from your site as I have to sit next to the computer, since I can only download 4 at a time. I then have to wait until one of those 4 are done downloading before I can physically click "Download" again to download more songs. Other sites offer .zip files or a download manager that works.

3) Flash interface is yucky. It's slow loading and difficult to navigate through the site. I can't open multiple tabs of the same page(like right-click and open in a new tab, say, if I wanted to keep a particular page open but explore a new connection through a label, remixer or artist). Not sure if it's because of your site or Flash, but there are time when I can't listen to a sample clip until it's completely loaded, instead of it streaming while I listen (but sometimes it *does* load and play at the same time). Also, I cannot copy and paste any text because it's in Flash and sometimes I like to do more research about an artist, remixer or label.

4) 3.0 is definitely easier to navigate than 2.0, and I really like the "My Labels" and "My Artists" options. I know you can edit the "Date Limited" by clicking on "Edit" but it would be even better if you could just change the default from 7 days and the new release "bullets" automatically show up for whatever period you choose (in the lower left corner), instead of having to go to the "Edit" screen.

5) Would be great if you put a "Date Purchased" and "Date Downloaded" column in the library pages. I like to know when I buy tracks and when I downloaded them. Also, you don't remove songs from the "Ready to Download" tab even though I know I've already downloaded the songs. So, if you have the "Date Purchased" column, then I can at least sort by date so I know if I downloaded something already. Since you don't have a wishlist function, I buy music even if I don't need the song for a particular gig, but then I save it for later to download and it can be confusing whether or not I've downloaded it yet.

6) Related to the column comment in the "Download" tab, I think it's more efficient to combine all the tabs of "Ready to Download", "Downloaded", and "Re-Download" all in the same tab, and then add a column denoting ""Ready to Download", "Downloaded", and "Re-Download" so that you truly have your entire library in one place/tab.

7) Since tracks are re-released, sometimes on 3-4 different labels, I have found myself unnecessarily buying the same track more than once. It would be great if you could sort your library using the different columns (again, not sure if this is because your site is Flash-based), that way I could search for a track title right in in-site without having to go to my file directory to find a track. This is especially helpful when I'm away from my home PC and I don't have my portable hard-drive which holds all of my music.

8) Would be great if you had the page navigation (1,2,3,4,5,etc) down at the bottom of the page so I don't have to scroll back up when I want to move on to the next page. Can you offer a "Show All Results" option instead of just limiting to just 15/30/45 results?

I suggest all these things, not because I don't like your site, but because I'm on your site ALL THE TIME and it would make my life so much easier and my experience on your site so much smoother. Thanks for listening!

Happy Holidays!

manhattan clam chowder &amp; other random thoughts...

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/jennyshu/blog/802295d6-667e-49d6-a86a-db646f871bc7"> <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/3e2/1cb/3e21cbf6-e479-4881-a9ef-65bccef4efd1.thumb" width="65" height="48" alt="" />
    </a>
<div>i LOVE manhattan clam chowder! i had it last week at specialty's for lunch. whenever i see it, have it, or smell it, i think of my papa! my dad is a soup-lover and a conniseour of soups. in college, i had a summer internship at the same pharmaceutical company he worked at for years, and we used to have lunch together often. there were several cafeterias on the company campus and the main cafeteria served 4 soups a day. he'd gotten to the point of meeting the head chef so he could request special soups! so, manhattan style soup is one of his faves, but new england is more often served. why oh why!??! :P

the holiday season has been very busy for me... parties, work, friends, travel. all good stuff of course but can get tiring! all of the craziness in conjunction with tuesday/thursday boot camp with 530am wakeup calls. it's tough when you're busy all day, all week! today was our last class!! hooray! i lost 7 pounds and i feel GREAT! the weight was a bonus, but really i signed up for my general health. as usual, if you scan back at my past blogs, you will notice i've commented on my higher energy levels and better overall-well being. i convinced jim to do it as well and he really quite liked it. he's a trooper for sticking with it... even with basketball on monday &amp; wednesday nights!!

work has been ok... i'm finally really getting the hang of it and i feel like i'm making a huge impact on the analysis &amp; reporting, in turn helping the company make better business decisions. i've done so much streamlining and automating that i've cut down many hours of work for myself every week. but there's always more! recently, decisions have been made here that i'm not in total agreement with. it gets me down because i feel like the company chooses to grow their product lines and sales, but operationally, i don't think the decisions are sustainable or scaleable. i feel like they invest in the product marketing but then don't invest in the tools and systems to help me do my job so i can tell them how they're doing. it's always an afterthought... and honestly, when they do "fix" it, it's always a short-term fix which turns into the long-term solution, usually adding lots of manual and janky work on my end. so, i'm back in the market... looking casually for a new job. i like the startup environment and i've learned soooo much, but just don't feel like i can grow here. i will hunker down in the new year but i have my eye on a very specific job i won't mention yet... don't wanna jinx it. ;)

as for the fun stuff... honduras was GREAT. jim and i had a flawless vacation, even though it rained about half the time. i've never come home from a vacation relaxed so this was a FIRST. we spent all of our time reading, playing cards, snorkeling/scuba, drinking beers on the beach and sleeping! we didn't get to see much of anything except roatan but that's ok with me! it's a good sign when you can travel generally argument-free with your partner... :D we took a few pics, but not too many... it's hard to take pics when you're doing a lot of nothing! will post some when i get them off of jim's camera.

i'm leaving for chicago in 1.5 weeks to spend time with the family. i didn't get to see them for thanksgiving since i was in honduras with jim. i'll be there for 8 days and then i'll be back in SF for the weekend before new year's eve. :D when i get back, i've got a few gigs... closing party @ mighty, SEISMIC @ mighty, and breakfast of champions @ whisper. gonna be a fun time to ring in this new year. :D $40 pre-sale tickets for SEISMIC on sale until friday and then they go up to $50! buy em at www.seismicsf.org

and while i'm at it... if you haven't voted, make sure you vote for your DJ Dreamteam at http://www.nitevibe.com/dt07/page1.asp i know, i know... it's a popularity contest, but it would be nice to get some female representation in the top 30. last year, i was the ONLY girl (i think)in the top 30. this year i'm #24 and maybe i can move up a few spots in the next few days. even though i wasn't the top 10, they still invited me to play at the dreamteam event, which was an honor for me. of course, i had equipment issues, but it was a lesson learned!! :P

tonight i'll be at poleng for my good friends' clarkie, poper, and lee's bday... come on by if you know these wonderful guys... we'll be playing songs here and there throughout the night... should be fun! friday night i've got a cool fancy dinner party to go to... i get to dress up! then saturday, there's a brunch for a group of girls i hang out with, and then a private company holiday party i'm playing at for a friend. and in between all that, i have to squeeze in 3 other holiday parties!!! :O

whew!!! that was a long posting... been a while since i posted so it was a catch-up!!

if i don't see you this weekend... have a GREAT holiday and see you just before the new year!

here's wishing you all a happy (early) thanksgiving!

Goodbye Ibiza, Hello Barcelona!

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/jennyshu/blog/cb37d3ba-88b2-4455-ba06-c979677d35bd"> <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/2b1/1a7/2b11a792-2f2e-4020-8409-dd0a296e190d.thumb" width="65" height="48" alt="" />
    </a>
<div>just a quick blog.... am in barcelona now (or as as the catalyunians say, barTHAlona). ibiza was quite a trip... very different from what it was when i went in 2001. i noticed different things this time around since i dj now, and not all of it was for the better. but overall, Space is STILL HANDS DOWN my fave club in the world and nothing can beat that sound and light system. blows your mind.

another thing that blew my mind... the euro-mullet. it frightens me that people PURPOSELY get this haircut. i belive most of them were italians and some spaniards. i don´t care if the last person on earth had a mullet... the haircut is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE (sorry chris!) my favorite nickname for one of them... the typical short hair up top but DREAD on the bottom, which i affectionately (or disgustedly) call, the DREADED MULLET!

we stayed on playa d'en bossa on the east coast of the island and rented a villa shared between the 7 of us. it was a really nice place... full kitchen, 3 bedrooms w/ 2 beds each, 2 bathrooms, TWO terraces. we cooked almost every night and shared a big meal together at dinnertime. there was a washer/dryer/dishwasher and had a tv and little stereo so we could listen to music and watch movies on the nights we didn't go out. we had a pool in the complex and we were right in front of the beach, less than 100 feet from our place. the bedrooms had these powered window shades that basically made the bedroom PITCH BLACK. made it easier to fall asleep when we came home at 8am, but it really contributed to my warped sleeping patterns.

i made it out to 4 parties... fri night i arrived at midnight from san francisco, and we went straight to manumission. unfortunately, because of a disgreement between privilege and the manumissions, the night moved to amnesia. steve lawler was playing in the side room and on the terrace was some other dj's i wasn't that fond of. sunday we spent nearly 18 hours at "We Love Space"... cost us almost $70 to get in, with a red bull vodka ringing in at $23 and a small water at $11. yes, it's ridiculous. we were there from 11am-930pm and then from 1am-8am. then on monday morning, i headed over to DC10 for a few hours... i was so beat by then, but i was determined to go back to see the place again. the music was very disappointing and since i wasn't dancing enough to keep myself warm in the over-air-conditioned club, i spent most of my time outside warming myself in the midday heat in the courtyard. i was so tired i fell asleep sitting up, while texting my friend on the phone. that was the sign that i should go home. you think? ;) then tuesday night, we went to see carl cox's night (see highlight's below). thursday night, our last night in ibiza, we headed to the west coast to san antonio to check out the sunset at cafe mambo. the sunsets are indeed stunning, without a cloud in the sky and another island in the horizon. just as the sun went down they played pavarotti's recording of "Nessum Dorma" of Puccini's "Turandot", to honor of pavarotti's passing away that day. it nearly brought tears to my eyes.

my 1st visit to ibiza was back in 2001... a visit i made by myself and knew NO ONE! i made new friends quickly and had an great time, even on a backpacker budget (before they converted to the Euro, Spain was a bit cheaper to visit, though Ibiza was still ridiculous... just less ridiculous). i hadn't live in SF yet and didn't even know what burning man was back in 2001. having had partied with seasoned SF pro's, i'd say most people in ibiza could give us a run for their money. my 2nd visit to ibiza, i paid more attention to sound, dj's mixing/programming, and was more critical of all those things i pay attention to now as a dj, that i would have never before. i was not disappointed, but i was definitely not as is awe of ibiza (except for space) as i was the 1st time, and i certainly missed the comraderie in SF that can be matched nowhere else in the world. :)

after 7 days in ibiza, it was time to move along. barcelona is one of my fave cities in the world so i couldn´t come this close to it and not pay a visit. i went to the picasso museum but i was SO tired i was falling asleep reading the captions on the artwork! i went to the park around 5pm to rest my feet and read a little. i rested my legs on my camelbak and my camera was in the front pocket. i must have dozed off as i woke up not more than 20 minutes later and my camera was GONE! i´m not normally so careless, but i really thought being in broad daylight and in such a public park would be a deterrent for anyone. nope. luckily i always wear a money belt so my money and passport and credit cards were safe. was quite a bummer on day 1 for that to happen. i lost ALL my pics from ibiza, including our sunset visit to cafe mambo on the west side of ibiza... but luckily everyone took almost the same pics as me so not all is lost. it´s just a *thing* and totally replaceable, and at least was not something critical like my passport.

highlights of my trip so far:
- walking into space on tuesday night at Space and hearing Fatboy Slim drop one of my FAVE breaks tracks, Blackout by JDS on TCR. for those of you who don´t know, breaks really is not big in europe besides the UK. but to FBS´s credit, he had the whole fuckin´ room with their hands in the air... of course, it´s a kick arse song.
- hearing james zabiela close the night at space on monday morning from 5-7am... that boy knows how to build a set and it technically the most accurate and creative live dj i know.
- hearing carl cox on tuesay night rock the main room... i have not seen a DJ rock a dancefloor like that in ages. that dancefloor was WRITHING... i was truly in awe...
- me and nathan accidentally finding the ¨Chew the Fat!¨ breaks room upstairs at Space on sunday night for ¨We Love Sundays at Space¨. we had already been there from 11am-930pm and had returned to space after changing clothes around 1am to continue partying. i went to introduce myself to the dj, paul arnold. i was sure he would know murph, since he brought in some fat! kids for mighty breaks. sure enough he did... had a really great conversation with him and told him how excited we were to hear breaks in ibiza.

today i went to the joan miro museum on montjuic which i did not visit the first time when i was in BCN. i really like his work and i enjoyed taking my time in the galleries and doing something new. bought some great prints to put up at home. hadn´t done anything new until today (sunday), cuz on saturday, i visited la sagrada familia and la pedrera with my brother´s girlfriend since she´s never been (they happened to be in madrid when i was in barcelona so they were so great to bus over to BCN to visit me). my bro had his wallet stolen from his shoulder bag somewhere along the way the day after my camera was stolen... i was beginning to think the shu´s had bad luck! :( but that happens in barcelona a lot i think... very dodgy... but i still really like this city. it´s so vibrant and exciting... would love to live here someday.

sunday night, my bro and his gf´s last night, we got a recommendation from JZ´s friend for a tapas place... was so yummy! metro closed early on sunday, so we called it an early night, and they had to get up early tomorrow (monday) anyway. tomorrow i plan to do some shopping... love finding those looks and fashions i can´t get at home, particularly the ones that are good deals. if i get done early, perhaps i´ll go to the beach to get my last bit of sun. i heard it´s nice in SF, so i guess it won´t be my last chance for sun this season. :P

i have a gig this wednesday at Qool playing the 730pm slot on 9/12. would love to see you after my time away... email me or private message me for Qool guestlife love.

that´s all for now... pictures and a full update to come soon...

<div>last night we went to michael mina for dinner for jim's birthday...

i was a little skeptical, but since our friend was working at the bar, i figured it'd be fun.

i'm not a fancy restaurant eater... but i'm always open to try new things.

and the dinner was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!

they have an inventive menu... 3 couse "tasting" menu where they serve one ingredient in 3 different presentations...

try it out... it was TOTALLY worth it!!! we had so much fun.......

<div>we're thinking of throwing a camp-out with some friends... have been to a couple kick-a$$ spots in the past few years, but not that knowledgable about that many of them.

- car camping spot, so we can unload sound equipment
- can set up sound
- ability to "buy" out the whole camping space, so as not to bother other campers
- within 1.5-2 hours from san francisco
- room for 30-50 people
- scenics view would be nice too... ;)

that's a wishlist of course, but if we can get close, i'll be happy! :P if you have any suggestions, i'd love to hear em!!! thanks!! :)</div>

<div>(photo from Peay Vineyards... went camping there a few weeks ago... the photo doesn't do it justice, but i feel such peace when i think about that place!)

Parents. Parties. Phun. ok... i couldn't think of a third P. :P

it's FRIDAY!! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

i worked pretty damn hard for the last weeks for my company's board of directors meeting, which happens every month. i'm on my 3rd month here and i'm starting to get the hang of things. i try to automate things, but the environment here changes so quickly and frequently that a lot of my efforts are moot because i end up having to change things around each month. but eventually, i'll find a way to get it more automated. since wednesday, i've been slacking a little since the meeting, but i think i'm entitled. ;)

this weekend, my parents are visting... which i'm pretty excited for. i did see them in may for mother's day in chicago, but it's always great when they visit my home turf so i can try to treat them to meals and show them around. they've been here plenty of times, so i don't usually bring them to the touristy stuff but my mom is happy just exploring the city and taking the trolley everywhere. :D they are also meeting the new man, which i'm ESPECIALLY psyched for... not nervous as all cuz i know he'll be great to them and the 'rents will love him... cuz he's GREAT!

on top of their visit, i also have two gigs this weekend... doh! the fun never stops does it? :) this friday, i'll be playing with the dubalicious and freeform crews at shine. fLOORCRAfT played with me at redemption last week and i'm very excited to be playing with him again... he's a sweet soul who's passionate about everything he's involved with, including his music!! jonboy is good peeps too, so i'm looking forward to joining him on the decks. then saturday, let's hope for good weather... cuz i'll be playing with the space cowboys for a Flaming Lotus Girls fundraiser to send the Serpent Mother overseas... BBQ and the Mog will be going all afternoon... and then music will go into the evening... hope you can join us. if the clouds burn off on saturday like they did today, then i reckon it's gonna be a beautiful day!

have a great weekend everyone!!!! xo

I'm psyched to be joining the Freeform &amp; Dubalicious crews... I've known fLOORCRAfT for quite some time through Tribe, but never had a chance to play with him until last week. We recently threw a very successful fundraiser together for Organ Donation Awareness, and I know the vibe at this party will be equally positive. We are also getting hyped for Jonboy with an acid-breaks closing set along with residents Iyad and Floorcraft starting the night off correct with some progressive floor fillers.

Come out to support the Flaming Lotus Girls in their quest to take the Serpent Mother overseas! Proceeds from this party go towards the Serpent Mother's appearance at Robodock in Amsterdam. Local favorites will be busting out the 'choons on The Unimog and a BBQ will be in full effect in the afternoon. BBQ from 4-9PM, and dancing til 2am! Photoboof will also be gracing our presence.... I'll be splitting my time on the Mog and inside the warehouse with Shissla, once at 445pm and again at 11pm!

    </a>
<div>thanks to EVERYONE that came out last night to redemption. i can't tell you how excited i am at the success of the party... a little big goes a long way, and we raised $500 from the door, which is being matched by a corporate sponsor, so it's really $1000. all the dj's rocked and we had the dancefloor going too! :) several of floorcraft's co-workers from the California Transplant Donor Network were there as well, which really touched me because i felt like they are working somewhere they BELIEVE in.

ultimately, more important than anything else... even more than the money... is raising awareness of the importance of organ donation. if you're already a donor, SPREAD THE WORD! encourage your friends, family and co-workers to sign up as well! people's lives are depending on it!!!! if you have not signed up to be an organ donor, DON'T WAIT.

no excuses...
don't wait til tomorrow...
don't wait til you renew your driver's license...
don't wait til someone close to you is in need of an organ transplant...

DO IT NOW!

Did you know??
* Almost 100,000 men, women and children currently need life-saving organ transplants.
* Every 12 minutes another name is added to the national organ transplant waiting list.
* An average of 18 people die each day from the lack of available organs for transplant.
* In 2005, there were 7,593 deceased organ donors and 6,895 living organ donors resulting in 28,108 organ transplants.
* In 2005, 44,000 grafts were made available for transplant by eye banks within the United States.
* Approximately 1,000,000 tissue transplants are performed annually.
* According to research, 98% of all adults have heard about organ donation and 86% have heard of tissue donation.
* 90% of Americans say they support donation, but only 30% know the essential steps to take to be a donor.

The last line SHOCKS me!! DO IT NOW! it takes 2 minutes to sign up and that 2 minutes could add a lifetime to someone...

sign up here:

thanks again for everyone's support... it's great to know that we can dance for a cause and our community is not just a bunch of shallow ravers! ;)</div>

Maybe you were the Class Clown, a Jock, a Prom Queen, Candy Raver, or a Cheerleader. Who were you in that school play? What about that lousy summer job? Dig deep for that version of you that few would know.
