This is such an exciting time in my life! Amazing opportunities abound. Good comes to me from all directions and I am so thankful! As many of you know, I recently opened for Mary Manin Morrissey! She is an amazing speaker. The experience was incredible! On Sunday, I will be opening for Mark Anthony Lord of Liberation 2010. This amazing workshop is being hosted this weekend by New Vision Spiritual Growth Center and Ron Owen. This workshop is a taste of what we will learn at a conference called Liberation 2010, a LGBTQ spiritual conference. Bunnies and Earth Day and Festivals, oh my….. Namaste fellow peacemakers, April is an incredible month here in Arizona – The weather is gorgeous - Easter is this weekend – Earth Day is this month – Festivals are popping up all over the place – I will be on TV. I’ve had a lot of fun preparing for Easter this year. I’ve prepared awesome and inspiring Easter Music for Spiritual Enrichment Center in Peoria. I prepared and taught a fun Easter class for my sign language students. It’s been great! I wish for you, my friends, a joyous, inspiring, and blessed Easter and month of April. Namaste fellow peacemakers, Friday, August 1st was my birthday. Yesterday I found myself feeling apprehensive. I thought, wow, I am 30-something and what have I done? I left my career as an interpreter to become a positive music artist. I left my home of many years to move out west, and I am another year older. But then I had another thought…..I am 30-something, wow…how blessed am I. Everyday I get to look at the beautiful mountains surrounding Phoenix. I get to look at the beautiful sky and feel the hot sun. When I was a child, I only imagined that I might be able to see anything other than North Georgia. My next thought was I am so thankful . How could I possibly thank everyone who has helped me come to this point? And If I could who would I thank? …my parents? my sister? myself? my spiritual leaders? my friends? my mentors? everyone who has helped me? everyone who has taught me? The list would be endless…. Then, I thought…thank God I am 30-something. Thank God I have so many more years to live and thank God that I have all of you in my life. You are a blessing to me every single day. And, for my birthday I only wish for prayers for my health and strength, for divine creativity, for endless smiles and hugs, and that I be God in expression with my every breath, my every thought, and my every action. Celebrating Peace and Earth Day Namaste fellow peacemakers, Today is the last day of the season of non-violence. It is an opportunity for us to carry peace with us in our daily lives. This is a year of peace, a leap year. A year which is not a leap year is called a common year. Let us remember how extraordinary all of us and all of life is ~ that we can plant seeds of peace in every breath! Let us remember to keep taking the leap into love ... Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it. ~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In honor of peace and Earth Day (April 22, 2008), I am blessed to be a part of a free concert at Creative Living Fellowship. I will be sharing the stage with my friends Cerise, Ahria, Theresa and Heather Dubois, our band, and our peace dancers. The concert is sure to be a wonderful time for all. Where in the World Has Jessika Been? Yes, it is true – I have been missing! My life has been completely crazy yet amazing! First, I want to say that if any of you possibly even doubt that your dreams can manifest without your having to struggle then think again…..quite literally, think again! My life is teaching me that every word and every thought is a prayer. Life is showing me the importance of gratitude and letting go of ego – my no longer useful littleness. In return, I’ve had some really cool opportunities. March 8th – my dance troupe (Naia Tribal Fusion) performed at the Heart for Art Dinner Show in support of Aunt Rita’s Foundation. March 15th – I sang at ZenYard in support of Aunt Rita’s Foundation. The dinner was amazing and the crowd loved my jazz set! March 29th – I sang at the Harmonizing with Humanity conference. I met many amazing new thought artists. I went to workshops. I met awesome musicians and singers. It was incredible. March 30th - I sang at the DragonBoat Festival in Tempe. I sang a jazz set. The crowd loved the music! March 31st – I sang with Faith Rivera, Harold Payne, and Cathy McCall at the Faith Rivera concert (Creative Living Fellowship). Happy Thanksgiving from Jessika! Over this last year in Phooenix I have grown so much as an artist. I cannot put into words how much gratitude I feel for all of you, for my life, for my career and everything that is happening so seamlessly and gracefully. I give thanks for my new musical projects, for family, for my generous loving and supportive friends like you. You have consistently and lovingly encourged and supported me and my vision. I am thankful for you! Enjoy this Thanksgiving Day. May you know only love, peace, and wonder today and always. An Attitude of Gratitude A deep sense of gratitude has opened the doors of possibility time and time again in my life. Joy for everything around me - for what I have, who I am, what I have yet to acquire, and even for the storms in my life requires that I be thankful for the blessings around me right now. I've come up with two great ways to bring thankfulness into my life. It has been wonderful for me and I would love to share with all of my friends. The first way is a Gratitude mix tape (yep, you heard me right). I put together gratitude songs of my favorite artists and I play them every morning as I prepare for my day. Examples of these songs include: God is Good All the Time - Babbie Mason Somebody Ought to Tell God Thank You - Babbie Mason Thank You - Yolanda Adams Grateful - John Bucchino Kind and Generous - Natalie Merchant Gifts the Storm May Bring - Faith Rivera These are just a few examples. This is my favorite way to be grateful everyday. The second way is to join the Go Gratitude experiment. This is a way for your right and left brain to experience gratidue in everything. Hello Friends! I just want to let you know about about my fundraiser! As many you know, I am blessed to be a singer/songwriter who moved across the country from Atlanta to Phoenix last year. Since landing here and singing, several people have asked for a CD. CDs are very expensive - especially since I want to add a DVD component to sign all of my songs in ASL (American Sign Language) for the Deaf. I would like for you to save the date of August 25, 2007.
