I run into Jill in odd places. Just as a (day) person. Truth be told I've always been intimidated by her. It's cause she's such a knockout! Even the caberet vs. tribal flash brawl we had in the graveyard, well it bonded us in a pretty special way. But she still makes me nervous. It's cause it's so obvious that she's the bomb. dam!

Jill is an inspiration and an innovator. She is an amazing dancer (obvously, we all know that) and a truly amazing person with a fierce passion and creative drive. It is largely due to her support, inviting me to spin at Undulation last year, among other things, that I have been introduced to the tribal bellydance community and had many great opportunities since the night a nervous little me got to DJ, opening to a dance piece duet by 2 seriously amazing dancers, Jill Parker & Frederique, at Undulation. Yikes.

Jill, you have always inspired me with your dance performances. Furthermore, with your passionate energy and your vivid soulfulness, which extends to a personal level. I am so glad to have you as a pal and creative partner.

This girl Rocks hard!

Jill Parker... my story of Jill Parker and how she's affected me goes like this... okay well, when I was just a wee youngin of about 16/17 here in Pittsburgh, Pa I would watch the FCBD videos and STUDY this woman and how she moves. I drew pictures, study her drops and undulations frame by frame, made inspirational collages, and in all my wee dorkfullness drew her a picture and sent her a fan letter.
...Then, one day I was able to fly to the west to STUDY live with this amazing performer! Much to my sadness, she had just only left FCBD, so I couldn't find her.. (and she really was most of the reason I went in the first place!)
Finally a couple of years later, my girl Tamara befriended Jill and through her I was able to meet her... I remember it well.... I walk into her Oakland apartment as she greeted us with a bright smile and her tallness (in platform shoes..) and all I could do was sit back and take everything in.. I was thinking in my head things like "Oh my god, I'm sitting on her bed... Oh my Gawd, look at that cool BOA...., oh my gawd, it's her cat... and so on...
Really I met Robin Williams, and the Squirrell Nut Zippers in the same day and I nearly peed myself meeting my muse for the first time... who cared about Robin Williamz?
Anyways, yes I was obsessed and I needed her as my influence and motivation... since then I've grown a wonderfull relationship with her and I enjoy her even more as a person than just a collage on my wall....

Now that I've exposed myself as a COMPLETE Jill junky, you can all go and laugh in my expense....

Anyways, you've always been someone who stood out and you've grown into such a great inspiration to us all! Thank you!!

Jill is an inspiration. I know people say that way too much, but with her it's really true. Jill has gotten me off my ass in so many ways, physically, organizationally, you name it. Every time I see her dance so beautifully it makes me want to be a better dancer. And she's not just an untouchable performer, she's such a sweet, generous person to boot.
