Leave Thurs Morning - Arrive Friday Night!

Flew across the International Date line for the first time.
My First Time in Asia

...and....REAL KIM CHEE!
(yum!)

In Seoul, South Korea right now, getting ready to teach a few workshops.
What EXCELLENT Hosts I have. They are looking out for me at every turn. And Seoul is really kool! Okay, big dumb American here - I speak nothing of the language, and pretty much only here to teach dance. Have an interpreter (the nephew of the promoter), which is great because they took me to a real korean restaurant. No wait...how do you say that. A restaurant in Korea that's not a tourist spot...? Yeah. That's it.

mmm...kim chee

Okay, off to teach!
Wish me luck with that there language barrier!
Too bad I didn't have time to learn the following in Korean:
Right, Left, Foot, Hip, Shoulder, Arm, ASS MOMENTUM!

I am SO bad with Names!!!

It would really be great in my industry if I had a better memory for names. Unfortunately, a mind is a terrible thing.

I *used* be GREAT remembering every little detail. Now many of them escape me in deference to a more sort of experiential existence!

Unfortunately for me, i spoke to two people at Saqra's showcase last weekend: one was in Eugene with the Middle Eastern Dance Guild and one was in the Dalles, OR. Looks like I'm heading to Portland in Fall for some workshops and I wanted to connect to leap frog a couple of additional workshops in the area.

If you know anyone, pass it along, eh? ;)
Thanks!

Geez - I'm such a DOOF!

I DID IT!!!

Wow, can't believe it.
After all these years!

For those of you who don't know my history, I grew up the fat dumpy pear-shaped kid with the greasy hair, physics books and Dungeons & Dragons paraphernalia.

Somewhere in my training as a dancer, I worked on my stamina by going to a gym (they YMCA in NE Portland at first) to work on my stamina. I went from 225 to 190, and then since I had the momentum started doing weight machines.

Many many routines, interests and dedications later, I actually got up to 255# of muscle somewhere in the last half of my 30's. Although I got close, I never was able to reach that 18" bicep measurement tho.

Fast forward to years later - moving to San Diego, busy with work/dance and a few injuries kept me from really dedicating myself the way I was inmy 30's. After recovering from the last injury in Sept, I jumped on the lifting routine again. Took me from Sept to about the Belly Cruise in Feb to finish a 3 month cycle! LOL

Then did some cutting, and started on a new program closer to the ones I designed that I know I get excellent results from. It's a 3 week cycle, including a final week of SuperSetting.

Well, yesterday I was supersetting bis/tris.
Now, granted I always measure *after* the gym, which gives a slightly inflated view since the muscles are pumped. However, I measure basically the same time, to measure the gain. It's only an indicator of progress rather than a number.

But I'm VERY happy with the number.
After trying for years, I did it: 18" biceps.
I'm at 251 with a 34" waist.
Not bad for a 40-something, eh?
