I just rewatched "The Last of the Mohicans"--pfft!

What the hell was the point of that movie?! At the end just about everyone is dead and there's no...shit, it's just a movie about a series of violent events, with no story behind it. And my beef isn't that so many die, it's that their deaths contribute nothing to the story arc. In fact, I can't even *find* a story arc. The ONLY thing I can come away with from the movie is, "Yeah, we should've stayed in Boston," but that's only me desperately trying to find some kernel of substance in an otherwise pointless tragedy-cum-butchery.

It's just awful storytelling and a waste of cinema, serving to remind me why I've avoided watching it for the past 14 years, and cementing my decision to never watch it again. Many, many other movies have striven to accomplish the apparent story concept--conflict over white men encroaching on Indian territory--but have done it in a far superior manner.
