about me
there's a whole lot. i get called "firecracker" pretty frequently, if that gives you an idea. i always have rubber bands somewhere on my person. this comes in handy more often than you might think. give me enough baling wire, a few tools, and a roll of duct tape, and i'm unstoppable. i once got rescued via helicopter by the royal canadian mounted police. from a canoe. on the arctic ocean. after getting charged by grizzly bears. i have great stories and love to tell them. i also think you can never have too many stories, so i'm always looking to make more. i'm in love with every single moment of life. i have an inability to take a lot of things seriously and a tremendous ability to make a lot of things happen. oh, and i read way too much. wait. not too much. actually, not enough. but a lot. a whole, whole lot.
c'mon, how much were you really expecting to learn from a tiny little paragraph?
anyone got a paper bag?

Okay, to warn you, and possibly risk your disappointment, the title of this post has little, if anything, to do with the post itself. Sorry. I do that sometimes. Often, actually. It's a line from Transmetropolitan, if that makes you feel any b...

Full-scale, event-planning, urban-golf-related panic set in this morning. It's going to be an interesting month and a half.
As someone who has spent considerable time planning large-scale events (both in and after college, including a highly bizarre and improbable stint as, of all things, a wedding planner), I have discovered that the key to making an event happen is to project the exact mix of cool, calculated competence and full-bore insane frenzy to inspire all others involved in the p...

Yesterday a group of us went on our preliminary neighborhood scouting mission to find ideal locations for the upcoming urban golf madness. Of course, our first move was to sit in a bar and try and plan the upcoming madness, which went better than a lot of the meetings I've had in bars (you would be amazed how many events I've organized almost entirely from one tavern or another), and wound up being extraordinarily productive. Rules were discussed and decided upon, basic outlines of how the ...

It's just after ten a.m., and I've finished my work at the library for the day. You may think this is an indication of my ruthless efficiency, and, while it sort of is, it is much more an indication that a monkey with decent computer skills could do my job. Ladies and gentlemen, my life as a future librarian.
And on a librarian-related side note, my boss just told me that I always "look so fashionable". As background, you should know that part of the reason I love my job is because it a...

Okay, to warn you, and possibly risk your disappointment, the title of this post has little, if anything, to do with the post itself. Sorry. I do that sometimes. Often, actually. It's a line from Transmetropolitan, if that makes you feel any better. If you got the reference, I will email you a shiny new nickel (offer not good in states other than of my mind).
In the interest of staving off anything remotely approaching mature behavior, I took a two-hour lunch today and went back to my...
