at the top
stephan and co. made a fire (see youtube video). we ate some very scrumptious austrian meat and cheese, and we spent a couple hours at the top just hanging out and chillin' before figuring out a strategy to get back down. the climb up was pretty steep at the end. this climb was my first "anti-trail" experience. i remember the words of one of our party while looking at some folks who were all geared up and walking along the trail. he said, "and at the end of the day, they will think they took a hike". his point being, of course, that our humble(?) little group, without the help of special gear or marked trail, hiked up the rugged side of a mountain. in my mind, i thought it would be nice to at least find a trail for the way back down, but as it were, i had to rise to the challenge. that is, i had to slip and slide on my ass much of the way down. ha! what a great experience! thank you thank you thank you universe.
