~ Zen Lion, you arrive, survey your territory
and spread yourself out to the tribe like ocean tide pools, swirling in and out of consciousness,
connection and energy, weathering and smoothing your domain. Your level of light doesn't seem typical
in common hours and I appreciate our friendly interactions.
Peace on your way, peace Warrior ~

This brilliant man does not hold his heart back from the world. He's ferocious- look out! He's likely to grab you and eat you up because you are very tasty, and he's a fervent connoiseur of the Flavor You Are.
Dare to be devoured by one who explores and adores the tastes of space----mmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I highly recommend saying hello to John Potts whenever you see him around- He's a big boon to the Earth!

I've had an instinctive trust of John since I've met him, and we've really opened up to each other. He's an excellent Reiki healer, a wonderful listener, and someone whose inner child is always there, keeping the sense of wonder and charm. He will do anything for a friend, he will open his heart completely and hold nothing back, and you'll feel safe doing the same. He's a passionate person, and has a zest for life and a heart light that will keep on giving.
I've gotten to know him well, and look forward to many years of friendship!!

My darling John, a man who first came in visions, an idea moving in and out of focus like a oil painting melting in the sun, I saw many ideas, many images, the greatest idea being I knew there was something important to learn from this man. He has selflessly shown me how to be a friend by being my friend. Even in the face of my ugly bits he looks for what is good and pulls it out...
April 28, 2006
John has this enormous brilliant smile that lights up his entire face and being, as well as all who have the pleasure of being witness to it. This man is kind and open-hearted and without guile. His intelligent innocence reminds me of my own deep sage child self and his willingness to offer up anything to be of assistance to a friend makes him a Brother who truly holds the spirit and welfare of the Tribe in his protective light. He is one who I would not hesitate to ask for help should I need it. And as it is hard for me sometimes to ask for help, this is a great gift that reveals his intensely compassionate nature. He embodies the Rainbow spirit of sharing and giving and healing and is dedicated in all ways to spreading the Love. I love you, John!
April 24, 2006
I liked John the moment I met him last summer. His warmth and easy going nature always brings a smile to my heart. It is easily apparent to me that he has spent years on his inner quest wrestling down his inner demons. Even when he has great emotional turbulence in his life he is contemplative and wanting to learn and grow from the experience, however hard that might be. All of this combined with a far reaching intellect, a great sense of humor and a genuine willingness to help out in any way that he can makes him a most valued friend. One that I feel like I can really count on... and that is a valued treasure indeed! I look forward to many more years of friendship with him.

about me
I'm a funky skunky lazy monkey: clever, curious, affectionate and playful, but getting into trouble sometimes with my untamed ways, my long tail knocking stuff over, and above all, when misguided by my sometimes astonishing naiveté and cluelessness. Fortunately I can also be, and often am, graceful, gentle, and wise, when my fur isn't ruffled, nor my monkey mind too agitated. I have lots of ideas I like to share with anyone who is interested, chattering away in the treetops, and am delighted if you share your thoughts ( and energies and beauty) with me in return, but please don't hesitate to remind me to slow down and take a breath when i get a bit too excited!

More than a few of you know what it is like to live with ADHD.
I have it worse than most, sad to say.

1 A sense of underachievement, of not meeting one’s goals (regardless of how much one has actually accomplished).
2 Difficulty getting organized.
3 Chronic procrastination or trouble getting started.
** 4 Many projects going simultaneously; trouble with follow through.
** 5 A tendency to say what comes to mind without necessarily considering the timing or appropriateness of the remark... read more

John Barlow, who wrote these- rather amazing fellow.
Yes, I posted these once before- but worth repeating.

3, 7, and 9 are especially notable- and too rare!

No 13 is hard.
Buddhism teaches that's ok ONLY if it is done without self interest -i.e. not tell a truth if it merely causes harm to another, but no benefit.

PRINCIPLES OF ADULT BEHAVIOR

2. Don't badmouth:
Assign responsibility, never blame.

Nordic Spring

All my air castles have melted like snow,
all my dreams have run off like water,
all that remains of what I've ever loved
is a blue sky and some pale stars.
The wind moves quietly among the trees.
Emptiness rests. The water is still.
The old fir tree stands awake thinking
of the white cloud that he kissed in his dream.

A few gathered thoughts

Five Psychological Truths

1) What is unvoiced or unspoken, because it is out of relationship,
tends to get out of perspective, and to dominate psychic life.

2) The hallmarks of loss are idealization and rage,
and under the rage, immense sadness ("to want and want and not to have.")

3) What is dissociated or repressed-
that which is 'known' and then 'not known'-
tends to return, and return, and return.

4) The logic of the psyche is an associative logic-
the free falling logic of dreams, poetry, and memory-
as well as a formal logic of classification and control.

5) One learns the answers to one's own questions.

--Carol Gilligan

"All should strive to learn, before they die, what they are running
from, and to, and why."

--James Thurber

"A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance
when the need for illusion is great".

--Saul Bellow

"In Innocence there is no Strength against Evil
But there is strength in it for good"

-- U.K.LeGuin

"Like a piece of ice on a hot stove,
the poem must ride on its own melting
My poems are set to trip the reader
head foremost into the boundless"

-- Robert Frost

"It takes two to speak the truth,
one to speak it, another to hear".

--Thoreau

"Wenn du es nicht besser machen kannst,
mach es wenigstens anders!

If you can't make it better, at least make it different".

--Goethe

"Du sublime au ridicule il n'y a qu'un pas"
(From the sublime to the ridiculous is just one step)

-- Napoleon Bonaparte

"Our dignity is not in what we do, but what we understand".

--George Santayana

"Things are not as they seem.
Nor are they otherwise."

-- Longchenpa, 15th century Tibetan Buddhist Master

"That dream is the crux of the matter,
and somehow concerns beauty, consciousness and community.
We were, and are, worthy insofar as we serve it."

-- Robert Hunter

"anybody who can't tell the difference between metaphor and euphemism
probably can't tell the difference between poetry and lies."

-- John Perry Barlow

...Now that my ladder's gone,
I must lie down where all the ladders start,

Sweet are the uses of adversity,
Which like the toad, ugly and venemous,
Wears yet a precious jewel in his head.

--Shakespeare, As you like it

"In making up their minds, people would rather have
one good, soul-satisfying emotion than a dozen facts."

Everyone takes the limits of his own field of vision

It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body.
It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things."
