Well, this is me, in my brand-spanking-new SWR suit. Photo courtesy of the amazing Gar Travis.
The incomparable Perry Ash made my threads. I love the way this suit turned out. It's a modified version of exactly what Ralegh was wearing in that statue I showed. The color scheme was entirely Perry's idea, and the effect is just stunning. What you might, or might not, be able to see is the pattern in the jerkin. It's a wavy pattern of alternating gold and bronze thread. Perry has cut it into s...

First, let me say that I'm glad to see Tribe back up and running. See, I have a Myspace, and a Livejournal, and I signed up for Facebook while tribe was down, but I don't find any of them as convenient or well-organized as my beloved Tribe. I admit there's some attraction to being able to make richer text posts...but I think I'll live. Keep supporting Tribe! Viva La Tribe! Or something...
Second, I made a veiled reference to politics in my last blog, and I've got some things I NEED to get...

Amazingly, all my whacky plans for Northern this year are materializing.
According to my costumer, the amazing Perry Ash, my brand-new Sir Walter Ralegh suit is winging its way to me from Southern California. I've also placed an order for a period swordbelt which I should (fingers crossed!) have in time for opening weekend. At worst, I'll have to do one weekend with my old swordbelt.
I've taken advantage of the chance to order myself a new rapier. Hopefully, I'll be placing that order l...

Getting Ready for Northern...
(blog entry)
I think everyone has a favorite portrait of Ralegh. My wife Kris prefers the Hilliard miniature. My favorite is the one of Walter from 1588, followed closely by the one of him and his son Wat.
Pictured above is a relatively new statue of Ralegh...

Some Optimism to go with the Depressing Reality...
(blog entry)
Well, Gereg called my last blog "a depressing dose of reality." Fair enough. I suppose it was. I certainly had my share of depressing reality in my 3 years working in the so-called "advanced transportation" business. And I've had more than my shar...
