hello, I am a painter living in Boston, MA. My fascinations are exacting and odd, but basically I work in web information architecture, user design, and my actual vocation is that of a painter. I also write and record music, www.myspace.com/ichigatsu. The other big interests: linguistics (semantics, grammar, psycholinguistics, non-verbal communication, historic linguistics, sociolinguistics) China and Chinese,

It has been ages since I have posted to tribe, as I've been up to much as of late. It's always nice to come back, always always - good will and damn good conversation in these parts!... I'm going to update my pics and such very soon, as it's been such a long while.

This weather is like magic, isn't it? Just beautiful, beautiful.

Hello tribespeople...
In my absense from this lovely place, I've had a new exhibit, and my site has been totally changed, with all my new work up for view if anyone would like to have a look:

Thanks to all of you for your encouragement and thoughts in this crazy creative process.

tomorrow at 2:30 pm I'll be sitting with the director of the marketing division of the company I currently work for. I didn't expect to be at this point so quickly. What began as a nonchallant informal discussion about a design coordinator position where I work ended up becoming a job possibility.

I've had six days to prepare a portfoilo. I've done work with different people here and there for quite some time, but I'd not interviewed for a design job in years, not since I worked as a ne... read more

I spent the weekend with my father, his wife and my brother and his wife. I had a good time, but felt a bit unsettled as I felt that I had much to do back home. I've thought recently about my job, and how it doesn't pay me enough (I mean really, really, it DOESN'T pay me enough for all the work I do...) and compare it with the ever-lingering desire to go back to Turkey again (I've been 'normalised' since I've returned, yeah... but still it's difficult...) I don't know what the long-term pl... read more

No way to explain how hard it was to Leave Istanbul yesterday. It's the best city I've ever visited. It's hard to know what to write about - I've posted my reflections on a few tribes already. There is something amazing about the many neighbourhoods that make up this huge place, each with a slightly different character - so much sound and music and food everywhere, such colours and light; just a mind-changing and life-altering kind of passage for me. I really, REALLY did not want to come ... read more

In three hours! This will be the longest flight I've taken yet, with LOTS of time to kill in Amsterdam both to and from Istanbul. Hey tribemates, I'll probably log in with a snappy bit here or there along the way since the hotel has wireless and Joe is bringing his laptop (my sweet vaio is too heavy for this... goin' light.) Best to all you crazy hooligans.
