Super slow loading times, getting knocked off-line, "system down" and error messages...perhaps the wizards behind the curtain that is the Oz of Tribe are secretly re-tooling this site; hopefully they're transferring data to new, better, faster, stronger servers; hopefully they're working out bugs in the system; hopefully they're not dying the slow death of Facebook emigres and site problems forcing the unwanted mass exodus to other social sites...

Too early to sound the death knell? If I get knocked offline again while trying to post this blog entry, perhaps, sadly, not.

Just when I was dreaming up an application that could end web browsing as we know it, along comes Google's Lively.com. A customize-able virtual world where you can decorate rooms, build video walls that hyperlink to youtube clips or whatever, build avatars...it's a whole new world over there (it's still in beta) that's just waiting to be constructed/explored...picture tribe way back in its infancy, before anyone found it....

The Fête de la Musique, also known as World Music Day, is a music festival taking place on the summer solstice.
The Fête de la Musique began in France and has since spread to Belgium, Britain, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Costa Rica. Israel (in Tel-Aviv) China, India, lebanon, Malaysia, Marocco, Pakistan, Philippines, Romania, Columbia and other countries.
New York city held its first festival in 2007.

The idea was conceived by French Music and Dance director Maurice Fleuret for Minister of Culture Jack Lang in 1981 and first took place in 1982. It will be 27 year old this year !
Its purpose is to promote music in two ways:
• Amateur and professional musicians are encouraged to perform in the streets. The slogan Faites de la musique (Make music), a homophone of Fête de la Musique, is used to promote this goal.
• Many free concerts are organized, making all genres of music accessible to the public.
The Fête de la Musique is one of the few nights of the year where, under French law, there is no noise restriction. The musicians can play all night without fear of neighbours calling the police.

This year, La FETE DE LA MUSIQUE will be in Pasadena.

Los Angeles will make music history with the first-ever Make Music Pasadena, a Fête de la Musique event, taking place on World Music Day and the summer solstice, Saturday, June 21, 2008, from 10:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M.

Held in more than 300 cities in over 100 countries, Fête de la Musique is the largest musical celebration in the world, and Pasadena, one of the top cultural and civic destinations in the Los Angeles area, is bringing this international phenomenon to the West Coast for the very first time.

During this unique event, everyone is invited to make music throughout the city on the longest day of the year. Make Music Pasadena will feature internationally known headliners performing for thousands at four main stages, and hundreds of amateur musicians who will bring their musical talents to the streets. From world music to indie rock, pop, Latin, classical, jazz and every conceivable musical genre, Make Music Pasadena will showcase an incredible range of sounds and styles celebrating the diversity that is Southern California.
