I can't believe I have not yet made a testimonial for my darling Jovino. What an oversight!

I love this man sooooooo much. He's smart, creative, he gets things done, and I love spending time with him. He's really good to me, and he makes me extremely happy. (He's also quite modest, and I suspect this is going to embarrass the hell out of him. Too bad! It's all true!) He is a fantastic DJ. He has mad ninja sewing skills, and is equally talented in the shop. AND he can cook!

He is strong, yet gentle. One day, we were walking along Haight street when we saw a wild bird that had become trapped inside a store window. It was fluttering around, trying to escape. An employee was attempting to catch it in a towel, but was hesitant and having a hard time of it. Jovino walked in, quietly asked permission, and swiftly and gently cupped the bird in his bare hands. It grasped his finger with a foot as he carried it outside and released it, unharmed.

And I haven't even mentioned how freakin' SEXY he is! Or what a great kisser! Don't get me started!!!

As of this writing (November 2005) we have been together for about a year and a half and our relationship keeps getting better. I feel so fortunate to be his girl.

I simply adore him! <3 <3 <3!!!

jovino tells me exactly what he thinks, which i respect a great deal. he has astounding skills with a sewing machine and a serger. he's that guy who says the witty thing at just the right minute to make you spit out your drink.

one of the things i really value about jovino is his duality. he's both a GO GO GO energetic bouncy kinky bunny who feeds me lots of booze and gets me drunk and takes advantage of me (in a good way), and he's also a very caring friend who i know will be there when i need someone to talk to.

and he's hands down my favorite DJ ever.

Jovino is one of those important people who just decides things need to get done and gets them done. I appreciate his hard work and selflessness on Sanctuary. Also he spun the best first-time downtempo set I ever heard with tracks he didn't even know. And also he has IMPOSSIBLE MUTTON CHOPS. Dog, how do you maintain them beauties?

February is the month of purge

February is a major month in the life of jovino.

djmermaid and I have declared that we will be taking this month off from slaving away in the production mines of bunnywarez. Instead, we are focusing on ourselves this month with a much-needed break from the day-to-day routines that we have had since July. First it was the Burning Man rush and associated sales. Then came Halloween and it’s legwarmer emergencies. Xmas was close on its tail with some in-person sales and Further Confusion was just last weekend. In a nutshell, we’ve been in go mode since July.

Part of my month’s goals is to get the hot tub up and running and build a climbing wall. The hot tub needs a new frame, and I want to get an electric heater and pump so that it can be run indoors without too much fuss. My neighbor Nick has agreed to assist me in the carpentry department, so that will be a huge help.

I already have the holds and most of the hardware, but I still need to determine the best place for the climbing area. It will either be a bouldering wall in my bedroom, a bouldering cave in the back of the living room, or a 20' top-rope -able wall in the living room. All three options have their merits and drawbacks.

The final major event of February is my commitment to ridding myself of unnecessary clutter. I have vowed that I will get rid of something every day this month. Since it’s a leap-year, that means a minimum of 29 things will be out of my life. A minimum of 29 pieces of physical and emotional baggage will unburden my life.

Yesterday, I got rid of a huge box of electronic parts, circuit boards and doo-dads. I set these aside for potential art projects, but in reality the are just clutter.

Today I bid good riddance to three fluorescent light fixtures, a projector, two pairs of stilts and a bed of nails! I paused for a moment and considered getting rid of the stilts tomorrow, but M reminded me that “the game doesn’t work that way.” She is right. I am allowed to get rid of at least one thing a day; more is better. But identifying something that has to go should be gotten rid of as soon as possible.

So far, it is only the second, but I already feel tons better. I am sure that by the end of the month I will have far less clutter and far more space to enjoy life. I’ve even encouraged others to play along with me. Several other people have also vowed to get rid of at least one thing every day this month. If you want, I encourage you to play along as well. Since it’s already the second, this means at least two things today.
