My Beloved

I went to the glacier's edge,
where a blue lake lay.
In this remote place,
I sat on my pack,
and gazed out on the ice.

Why had I come here?
A question echoed on butterfly's wings
New wings born as old self dies.

My Beloved,
the lines on your face
the curving of the glacier's ice.

As my fluttering mind
stills
this quiet place begins to sing.

Ancient, primal Self.
Rhythm of Rock and Ice.
I hold a note
dissolve into that long note.

Now your body, a song,
and we are dancing,
My Beloved.

Avion

.. a pipe organ piece .. improvised by me.

The pipe organ is a digital reconstruction of St. Annes church organ in Moseley, England.

One of my jobs is with an organ builder. I design digital pipe organ systems.
Pipe organs are amazing instruments. Amazingly old and complex. The first pipe organs were made in 300 BC by Greek engineers. For a long time, they were the most complicated machines ever built!

I like that. Our machines of commerce and war make destruction and disillusionment. But pipe organs make beautiful, angelic sounds- echoes of Aeolus, the god of Wind.

Spiritual music! Isn't that amazing? Regardless of your religion, it's easy to be moved by the sound of a pipe organ. Now with this digital organ technology, we have liberated this monster instrument from the clutches of the church. On my 12 inch, four pound laptop, the sound of hundreds of metal and wooden pipes emerges. I can conduct my musical rites to all of MY PAGAN GODS. Speak to the angels that call to me.

A Snowflake's Journey

This one is about a year old.
It's been fermenting in my music box.
I produced this by overlapping bits of improvisations I had made on the theme of snowflakes.
Though I think it morphed and became something of its own, nevertheless you can still hear thoses little winter flakes swirling around in there!

Vocal percussion
Bosendorfer 275 piano
And synthesizer

String Fever

TRAINS

I'd like to begin sharing music with my Tribe.Net community. So many people I feel kin to are linked to me through this site, and this seems like the perfect way to open up this side of myself to you.

So, my friends, here is 'Trains', an improvisation on synthesizer and live loops that Spirit fed me on August 28th, 2005. Something about this appeals to me today. A Vancouver morning cloaked in fog... I am changing and growing new seedlings... brings back the moody resonance- pushing forward, yet shrouded in MISTery--
