Ive been playing around with a few sites that have avatars and its made me question the motives, if not the sexuality of other participants. A little fiddling and I was able to pass myself off as anything I wanted. Lisa Na... read more

drug theme (in William Gibson fans) Hi all,

there was some mention on one of these topics about a drug theme in Gibson's works. I just picked up a copy of Virtual light, flicked open to a random page and there was a party with people smoking crack out of a big glass dolphin.

our consumerism or yours? (blog entry) Hi,

recently, Ive been thinking about Adbusters, I thought I would approach their stance in the same way that they attack consumer culture.

My opinion is that they have the same arrogance that the commercialism that they pretend to undermin... read more

Re: steven pinker (in Cognitive Science) Hi

Language instinct is probably his best and most accessible work yet. Better still, it was only released in paperback in OZ for $10.99

a great read should be on anyone's list.

Southland Tales - have a nice Apocalypse...keep an eye on the background, there's always something on.
Code46 - an action free, yet strangely appealing flick
Avatar - nice detective movie with great interfacing (I like interfacing)
Strange Days ... read more

Hi anyone out there,

Ive been playing around with a few sites that have avatars and its made me question the motives, if not the sexuality of other participants. A little fiddling and I was able to pass myself off as anything I wanted. Lisa Nakamura does a nice article, its been a while since I read it, its called something like 'headhunting in cyberspace'. She gives an analysis of the types and frequencies of various Avatar characteristics as she searches the web.

Hi,

recently, Ive been thinking about Adbusters, I thought I would approach their stance in the same way that they attack consumer culture.

My opinion is that they have the same arrogance that the commercialism that they pretend to undermine. With the new website (I was lucky to start looking at them with the old site, and now the new site) have you noticed that all the good bits and links are now jammed to the bottom of the page?

If you want their movies, look to Youtube. Don't buy... read more

Yes, I spelled the very first word of the title wrongly! And wrote the first sentence incorrectly! Its not for lack of knowledge, a dictionary, or laziness. I believe this English of ours has to progress, and spelling should be less heavily relied on. Thats not to say that we should stray too far from what would be able to express the concept and context of our message.

Ive been doing some linguistic work lately, as well as some developmental work with people from other geographies... read more
