She knows almost everyone I know. And apparently more.
Even those people I was sure didn't have anything else in common except for the fact that they both know me... Well, come to find out. They both know Jo too... All this, despite the fact that Jo and I are rarely in the same place at the same time.

Jo loves to figure things out. Some of the things she has figured out are pretty arcane, and I have been so impressed to see her take the trouble to explain complicated political things, and futuristic nutrition things, and cutting-edge freedom things, and life-changing future science things, patiently and from the beginning to people with no background because Jo knows it is important to share. Jo is a clear and engaging writer, a loyal friend, and a stalwart freedom-fighter.

I think Marc's right. Jo could be a swashbuckler. Unlike Bly, Blackbeard or Captain Hook though, she has a good side. I'm just hoping to stay there so I don't have to walk the plank.

Well the vacation is set for Apr 28 - May 5. Looks like there is a party the day/night of the 28th that we'll try to get to, but since we arrive late-ish, not sure if that will happen. Otherwise, no plans yet! I want to do everything and nothing while I'm there ;-)

In thinking about New Orleans, my time there, my friends and memories, I am of course saddened by events post-Katrina. But I'm also hopeful, as I was after 9/11 when people in NYC were actually nicer and more community oriented, at least for a while. This painting was done by a friend of ours, Katherine, when she stayed at our place in New Orleans in the Irish Channel. I don't know if the door, or the house, is still there.
