Ok so one night last week when Rachel and I went to go buy our very first digital camera, I somehow picked up a GINORMOUS bolt in my tire. I mean the head of this thing was at least a half inch across. Amazingly enough I didn't blow out my tire and we were actually able to drive home with the bolt there. The next day We put the donut on, and I called Sears to see what kind of coverage I had.

Because they had been out of tire patches, I had to wait till they came in to take the tire in. which I did. Last night. I get there and the tire tech says he can't patch it the hole is too big. I'm gonna need a new tire. How much is that going to be? They put in some numbers.

"it's half worn so it's prorated to $50.00"

$50? Crap, I don't have $50 to spare, but I can't drive to Arizona on a donut, so I guess. Then I look over the paper work and I notice the two front tires on my car are about half worn, but the other rear tire is barely worn at all. like it still has 80% of the tread. So I ask, "how come the one tire isn't worn at all? That doesn't make sense" So she offers to go out and measure it again (mostly to get me to shut up I think) and she comes back in an immidiately starts typing at the computer.

She had made a mistake.

She had measured someone elses tire.

They had 4 cars come in in the 20 minutes before I did, and she took measurements on the wrong tire. My tire was only 20% worn, just like the one on the other side, so the new tire cost me...

$4... in enviromental disposal charges.

Thank god for road hazard insurance.   $4 got me a brand new tire and we're on the road! :D
