Pada Puja

   Thu, June 5, 2008 - 12:10 AM
I am just now fully realizing that in less than 36 hours I will be performing pada puja at the feet of my beloved spiritual mother! In Hindu culture, worshipping the Guru's feet is symbolic of worshiping knowledge, because the Masters are established in Self-knowledge or God consciousness. Their feet represent the state of supreme consciousness in which they stand on. Pada Puja is performed by symbolically washing, drying, and applying sandal paste and kumkum (vermillion) powder.

“Whatever merit is acquired by one, through pilgrimages and from bathing in the Sacred Waters extending to the seven seas, cannot be equal to even one thousandth part of the merit derived from partaking the water with which the Guru’s Feet are washed. There is neither Yoga nor Sadhana greater than performing Pada Puja to the beloved Feet of the Guru.” – The Guru Gita

What a blessing! Did you wash Her feet with Your tears?

to be honest i was too nervous to be crying - my mind was preoccupied with silly details, like how to wipe the sandalwood paste ...
but what a blessing ~ the reality of it has begun to settle into my being like gold dust in the IAM.
