Incorporating ritual/ceremony to both open and close the circle of our dance gatherings, we come together with both common and unique intentions. It is our belief that rhythmic movement as meditation can lead to higher states of consciousness. Community intentional dance is a cross-cultural and ancient means of setting intention, achieving higher states of consciousness and celebration. Each month we will feature a different regional DJ to guide us through our journey. asparagus season!

Happy Spring!! it was in the 40's here today, first time in almost 3 months!!! i made this killer asparagus soup and just had to share with you! 1 tablespoons unsalted butter 1 tablespoon canola oil 3 cups chopped onions 2 tablespoons finely minced garlic 6 cups chicken or veggie broth 2-3 pounds fresh asparagus 2 carrots, peeled and chopped 1 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley leaves 1 tablespoon dried tarragon Salt and pepper, to taste 1/8 tsp. of cayenne pepper scant 1/3 c. grated parmesean (optional) 1. Melt the butter in the oil in a pot over medium-low heat. Add the onions and garlic; cook until tender, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes. Add the broth; heat to boiling. 2. Trim woody ends off the asparagus. Reserve the tips, then cut the stalks into 1-inch pieces; add to broth. Add the carrots, parsley, tarragon, salt, pepper and cayenne to broth. Simmer, partially covered, until the vegetables are tender, about 45 to 50 minutes. 3. Add parmesean. Blend with a hand blender or puree in batches in a blender or a food processor, then return soup to the pot. 4. Turn off heat and toss the asparagus tips in. Let sit for 10 minutes.

finally found a house to move into, yay! it's a sweet little shack, in town, on the creek with lots of camping space for you freaks when you come to visit. i'll be mostly off line until tues pm when my phone/dsl gets hooked up. until then, an occasional check in from our local internet cafe.... this shack, ok, i'll call it a cabin.... this cabin is pretty much the only perma-rental in crestonia that i've never lived in. it's a 1 bedroom, 1 bath, i'll be making the bedroom into my office and curtaining off my bedroom in part of the living room. the back 'yard' is a meadow on n. crestone creek. everything is walking distance, take that you halliburton fukers! phone # will remain the same. till the next sign in, kali ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

a big thank you to everyone who braved the blizzards to make it to the sag party this weekend! once again, the magicland of crestonia was surrounded by storms in every direction. this party has traditionally been a bubble and the weather always seems to make sure to give us a challenge. once in the bubble it's always a joy to float around the universe with all who made it in. we had a spectacular 12+ hours of music and an incredible turn out considering the conditions. a special thank you to all of the artists who performed- this lineup was A++ and you all threw down beautifully, check your site stats - word is people are downloading your tracks like crazy around here right now :-> also to family moons for the 2day expedition to get the sound system here- this journey will go in the stories archives for sure; and to zach for the amazing sagittarius painting he created and gifted to me, wow. and to bruce man-do for once again living up to his namesake. and to all of the volunteers that helped set up, break down and work the door - your dedication to a good time is so appreciated. and to baba markji for your clear reflection of truth in my spirit. and to the silver crest for letting us freaks get our freak on in your venue again as well as talkin down the sherriffs on all 4 of their visits to the party. and to those of you who emailed and called and sent your love to be with us- i am deeply touched and feel your love and support. and to amulya for opening her home to 5 hours of bumpin dancin beauty. thank you thank you thank you! forgive me if i've forgotten anyone on this list, know that my gratitude to you is there, but my brain is still not firing on all cylindars and i'm still walking funny. deep love and respect, till the next one, kali ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

why ordinary rural citizens go postal

back when crestone's post office was a single wide trailer (i'm serious, it really was), we had this amazing postmaster named monte. he was great. you forgot your keys, no problem, he'd hand you your mail. you didn't know a locals po box # and needed to send them something, no prob, he'd look it up for you. if he'd receive a parcel with your street address on it instead of your po box #, no problem, he'd put it in your po box anyway. he'd have cookies at the counter at holiday time, often baked by his wife peggy who we all also knew, or were gifted to him by the many locals who admired and loved him for being a part of our community even though he lived 50 miles away. he would drive these100 miles round trip on a daily basis to serve our community. back then nobody paid for a po box, cuz we didn't and still don't have home mail delivery around here. about 8 years ago, after boulder found out about crestonia and started building down here like mad, upping real estate prices to aspen or santa barbara levels and driving like crazy people, we got a new post office. it's a veritable federal building with signs posted like "don't forget your keys, it is illegal for us to hand mail over the counter." as usual, every year we get a "no-fee po box renewal" notice that we have to sign saying that yes, we still live in a place where we don't have home mail delivery, gimme my box for free. for 16 years i've had the same po box. my address is in the double digits, that's how long i've lived here and how long i've had that box #. a few months ago i got my annual "no fee po box renewal" notice. i signed it as usual writing down my at the time current street address, and handed it to our new post master who we've had for about 3 years. i said "thanks, jerry" and turned to walk away. he stopped me and asked me if that street address was in casita park. i said yes. he then informed me i'd have to start paying $36 dollars a year for my box, because allegedly casita park has home mail delivery. evidently because of a crappy trailer i was house sitting, i had lost my no-fee po box privileges. i think there's one couple in their 80's who have lived in casita park since 1979 who actually gets mail delivered to a box on the side of the highway. the other 150 residents of the park use a po box. i let jerry know that this was a temp. living situation, i didn't plan on being there long, i was house sitting. too fukin bad. i'd have to cough up the cash. so i asked a girlfriend if i could use her street address on my form, and she said yes. i turned in a new form, and he said, sorry, that's so and so's address. only one free po box per home. i paid the $. a few weeks later i moved out of the blessed trailer park into the cabin i am now in. i told jerry that i had a new home and gave him the address. i had assumed my roommate's po box was associated with his ecovillage out yonder and not with the cabin that we share. jerry said "let me investigate." i walked into the post office a few days later and he let me know in no uncertain terms that he had concluded his investigation and that this street address i submitted was already using its no fee po privileges by my house mate. now i'm noticing that parcels i've been waiting for (like the hard drive usb enclosure i ordered on ebay) are going MIA. the seller's rating is 100% with feedback comments like "lighting fast delivery" and "delivered quickly, as promised". i'm also noticing a little snicker on jerry's face when i go into the post office. i also can't help but wonder if there are cameras behind that glowing blue mcdonald's looking postal menu that glows with its ever increasing postal rates behind jerry's head. i miss the days of monte and cookies.
