"I come home from the soaring
in which I lost myself.
I was song, and the refrain which is God
is still roaring in my ears.

Now I am still
and plain:
no more words.

To the others I was like a wind:
I made them shake.
I'd gone very far, as far as the angels,
and high, where light thins into nothing.

But deep in the darkness is God..."

....on this auspicious time of Navaratri:

Okay, not original, but I'm no poet. So here's something I find moving, the Bhairavī Stotra from the Tantrasara by Abhinavagupta:

THUS shall I pray to Thee, O Tripurā,
To attain the fruit of my desires,
In this hymn by which men attain that Lakṣmī,
Who is worshipped by the Devas.

Origin of the world Thou art,
Yet hast Thou Thyself no origin,
Though with hundreds of hymns.
Even Brahmā, Viṣṇu, and Maheśvara cannot know Thee.

"Knowledge will remove your bewilderment,
and you will see all creation in yourself and in me.

The raft of knowledge ferries
even the worst ill-doer to safety.

As a flaming fire consumes logs into ashes,
so knowledge consumes karma.

There is no purifier like knowledge in the world:
time makes man see the truth of this.

The devoted man, indefatigable commander of his senses, gains knowledge;
with this knowledge he finds final peace."

Finer than the finest, larger than the largest,
is the Self (atman) that lies here hidden
in the heart of a living being.
Without desires and free from sorrow,
a man perceives by the creator's grace
the grandeur of the Self.

Sitting down, he roams far.
Lying down, he goes everywhere.
The god ceaselessly exulting--
Who, besides me, is able to know?

When he perceives this immense, all-pervading Self,
as bodiless within bodies,
as stable within unstable beings--
A wise man ceas... read more

"In the beggining this world was only Brahman, and it knew only itself (Atman), thinking: 'I am Brahman.' As a result it became the Whole (sarva). Among the gods, likewise, whosoever realized this, only they became the Whole. It was the same also among the seers and among humans. Upon seeing this very point, the seer Vamadeva proclaimed: 'I was Manu, and I was the Sun.' This is true even now. If a man knows 'I am Brahman' in this way, he becomes this whole world. Not even the gods are able to... read more
