I thought this statement by a Mom was funny.... and that dishes have now been designated the chore for men to do. What happened to garbage:)? Or is it assumed that men are doing that too..... :)

"the fact is, though I want my daughter to do and be whatever she wants as an adult, I still hope she’ll find her Prince Charming and have babies, just as I have. I don’t want her to be a fish without a bicycle; I want her to be a fish with another fish. Preferably, one who loves and respects her and also does the dishes and half the child care."

I ran across this news item from Sweden........Ex-con’s sex toys rub prison staff the wrong way

Published: 10 Apr 08 17:39 CET
Online: http://www.thelocal.se/11028/

Going-away presents hand-carved by an inmate upon his release did not go over well with the female prison employees who received them.

Now the 58-year-old former prisoner has been fined for sexual molestation after sending wooden penises to several women working at the Smälteryd correctional facility outside of Borås in central Sweden, writes the Borås Tidning newspaper.

After completing a short prison sentence in 2003, the man left his packages at the prison’s front desk addressed to a number of women employed at the facility.

The packages contained hand-carved wooden penises, as well as a note saying he hoped that the gifts would be put to good use.

The recipients, however, were not inclined to take advantage of the wooden phalluses and instead reported the matter to police.

In court, the woodcarver’s lawyer argued that “in today’s society wooden sticks and letters cannot be considered morally objectionable, in any case not in a correctional facility environment.”

But the Borås district court disagreed and fined the man 1800 kronor

I just found this :) It made me smile..... I'll have to get out the vanilla.
BTW, for those of you keeping track.... yes it's still Christmas here. :)

A study conducted at Chicago's Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation found that when men smell the scent of vanilla, it relaxes them, reducing anxiety and inhibitions.

Even more important than the ice cream flavor is the toppings you use to crown your bowl. Start with a healthy drizzle of warm dark chocolate syrup. British scientists have discovered that women release four times more endorphins after eating chocolate than they do after making out. Plus, the cocoa in chocolate contains methylxanthines, stimulants that increase your body's sensitivity—ensuring that your skin registers even the slightest touch or movement against it. When it comes to harnessing chocolate's powers, the darker the better; look for a bar with at least 60 percent cacao, then melt it and drizzle it yourself.

Finish your mood-enhancing masterpiece with a handful of raspberries, which have one of the highest densities of anthocyanins, a powerful antioxidant that helps with bloodflow below the belt.

Keeping our children safe

I found this very funny.
I'm looking into family bicycles.... Zoom's school is only 4 miles away, on not very busy roads, and I'm tempted. I found a discussion, where one person was basically saying- these are not safe not safe! And here's someone else's response, so true to so many other things....

" you are absolutely right, we need to do everything to keep children safe. We should lock them indoors in climate controlled rooms so that they don't get too hot or cold, with the curtains closed so that they don't get sunburned, and when they get bored, they can watch TV.
And then when they turn 18, weigh 300 lbs, have diabetes, and no social skills, we should kick them out of the house, cause they aren't children anymore."

S/He should have added in that they can have friends over the internet only, that way they won't catch any diseases or illnesses and no one can hurt them. Sheesh.

60,000 Thoughts

I read yesterday, and I have no idea where the author of the article got their information from (yes I just tried to google it but was thwarted, but really it doesn't matter if the article is accurate, I'm really just thinking about the content here and wow that's a lot of thinking in itself that I just felt that I needed to add this disclaimer!)
But as I was saying...
I read a couple days ago that the average person has 60,000 thoughts a day. And 59,000 of those are repeats. So now, of course, I've thought about this every day! So I've been examining my thoughts, while thinking.... oooh impossible! But still nothing to do but try..... and oh ya I do think a lot of the same things every day or several times a day. It's important to do, such as "go pick up that package when you go out".

It's really too bad, though, that my mind doesn't come with a "delete" button. 'Cause some of those thoughts, I just don't need anymore. :)

'Cause I'm PISSED and man I want to vent and rant and rave......could I be 3 and get down on the floor and scream and kick myself in a circle?.... but I'm tryin not to. Even though it would feel great to get it out of my system and maybe then I could fall asleep.....

I am sitting here watching a DVD of Amel Tafsout..... it is basically a compilation of her favorite performances over her lifetime..... and I love it. It's not professional, the vid quality is not good, the camera wiggles.... but it is amazing to see such a body of a performer's work like that. I don't think I've seen anything like it. In a way it's nice not to have it super polished in perfect studio conditions with mutliple takes. And great to see so much of her dance.

Like dancing with my girlfriends in the pouring pouring rain. With Kazuki drumming on a big davul! Oh I hope I can hang on to that one for my life. What an incredible night. Don't listen to Auntie Kamille! I think I might need to make Auntie Kamille my evil twin. :) How wonderful to be out till dawn with my old buddy Kazoo. I miss you Kazoo! Maybe we need to buy ourselves a plane? And we created the best street party Pennsic has ever known. Totally sweet. I can now add, "got shut down by security for having a rockin party in the road" to my list of accomplishments. Ahhh.

I don't want to be that person for very long. And I want to keep my own sense of self while I experience someone else's... but I can't help but wonder... What are thiey thinking? What is it like to be them? What do they fear and think about constantly.... Does purple look the same to them? Wouldn't it be strange to be in their body, feel aches and pains in different places.... see differently out of their eyes....

I look at the person crossing the street in front of my car and wonder where they are going, who they are thinking about.... if they are basically happy or sad or angry.......

But sometimes it's hard looking at the things I can't do because I choose this one. Sometimes I read about dance events that I couldn't go to because of those at home and it makes my heart hurt. Sometimes even when we make the right choices, and continue to make them, it doesn't mean that sometimes we aren't sad about them.

And I know if I didn't have my baby, or have another one, my heart would still hurt.

Here's a quote for you...... the fashion designer in me almost had a heart attack......even if it's not real, oh my gawd, just the thought.....

"Debra Jackson said she likes shopping at the Dollar Place because it is convenient and casual. 'I don't have to get all dressed up like I'm going to Wal Mart or something,' she said......"

The Pic is a "Deer Butt Doorbell". 'nuff said.

I just wanted to talk about how amazing Kazuki is and what a great friend she is.....
On my recent trip, I would have had a really hard time without her. She and Seido drove me around, taught workshops with me and then decided to use their share to help me pay for my plane ticket, indulged my weird mothering ways and my kid, didn't really look at Niagara Falls so I didn't miss my plane home....... the list just goes on.

Thank you Kazuki. And Seido. Wish I could do more than just say thank you.

Tribal Fest last weekend..... I wish I had been at that event just once B.B. , before baby. These things are such a different experience now and I find it hard to absorb, especially having no reference point to compare to. I'm a little sad that our set was so late on Sunday that a lot of people seemed too burned out to make it, especially since it was raining on and off. But I'm so happy for the friends who did! The pictures of the audience we have are great. Kazuki and Seido really nailed the set. Awesome.
The whole time I was there I just felt like, "What do I need to do now? What am I forgetting?" Crazy.
