The Photography of Erika Palomares

Sufice to say, Erika Palomares is one of the nicest, caring people I have the privelage of knowing. She takes her form of art work seriously with such dedication that it often astounds me that she can be so happily in tune with the form of medium she chooses.

She is an outstanding, and professional, photographer, and I've modeled for her to help her further along her independent studies, as well as being photographed during performances. And I know she is always looking for great clientel, and I highly, HIGHLY, recommend any dancer wanting to have dancer (or other) portraits done, to give her a call.

You can find her information (for right now) at http://members.cox.net/sephotos. Currently the site is in a transmission, and if ever you wanted to see her portfolio, just give her a ring and I'm sure she'd gladly share it.

PS She's in the West Valley of Phoenix! :)

Jerome, Arizona

This weekend I went to Jerome, a sleepy little artsy town that is rich in history and perfect for photo opportunities. This is my second time going, and I love it! I'll most likely be visiting it again in the near future, and I don't mind that it takes two hours just to get there from the Valley. It's worth the drive.

There are two outstanding stores there that sell belly dancer oriented items. The first is a small store, a Bazar, (I don't know the exact name! >_<) that sell gorgeous skirts made out of silk and sari material which are perfect--PERFECT!--for belly dancing! And for OUTSTANDING prices! The second store is Knit 1 Bead 2, which is a fabulous yarn store that also features Kuchi and other Tribal jewleries at again, fabulous prices!

On my first trip up to Jerome with a coworker, we toured the town and photographed a lot of it, and even visited the "ghost town" up the hill. But on this second time around with my mom, we went down to the cemetery, of which is over a hundred years old. I love cemeteries, because they're beautiful in a macabre sort of way. It'll sound weird, but I had my tenth birthday in the cemetery in Woodland Park, Colorado, because I loved it so much. The Jerome Cemetery was really neat to explore because there were a lot of childrens' graves as well as a lot of immigrants' graves. Some of the graves have been lost to nature, or their headstones gone missing, but it was just really neat being amongst a nearly forgotten cemetery in an old, old town.

So, if you're here in Arizona, and are looking for things to do, drive up to Jerome. The Brewery Restaraunt and the Mile High Grill are great places to eat, and there are a ton of shops and places to explore!

Well, maybe I'm biased, but when you compare the quality of pictures Walmart or the Picture People (or any other mainstream studio) provide to those of Kiddie Kandids, I'd have to say that Kiddie Kandids is far more superior. And I'm not just saying that *just* because I work for them. But seriously look at the difference if you get the chance.

Where's the point in this rant? Well, I'm going to be taking pictures of my latest dance outfit in the very near future at my job and just thought I'd share it with everyone. Especially since I know a few belly dancer's here, and who knows, they may be wanting to get photos done of their costumes as well. I know I do because this latest costume I pieced together. I did the sewing (except on the pants!), and I want to see what I created.

So, for those with Kiddie Kandids in your neighborhoods, or if you already take your kids there, definately try it out. The prices are great for the quality--it's the best quality.
