Zoe Jakes... Tyra Banks of Bellydance 2008
I had the privilage of watching and chillin with Zoe Jakes this weekend. First off... she gets the Cool Ass Nor Cal Bizo seal of approval. Hella funny, sincere, bad ass lady. Not to mention... Holy Fuckin Shit! She can dance!I had a realization watchin Zoe spin like the Tazmanian Devil. She is the Tyra Banks of Bellydance 2008 (A KVZ award). Tyra has her signature look with the eyes that smile, the signature walk, the signature body... No matter who she shares her knowledge with... She's untouchable. Everyone wants it. No one else can do it. Not like her...
ZOE! She is technically a ten. She has that X Factor that is undescribable. Jaw dropping, laughing outloud, slappin your sistah on the arm cause it's that damn good entertainment. She's no flash in the pan. This gal's got the goods. Seriously... Her spins are like nothing I've ever seen before. SERIOUSLY. The stylization that she's found is fucking brilliant. Let me say it again... FUCKING BRILLIANT! Bravo, Zoe. Bravo.

On Sunday my car was broken into at Pride. I lost everything. My ipod, camera, new rollybag, my notebook, calendar, clothes, jewelry and...
my UNMATA necklace.
Everything else I can replace over time. But my UNMATA Necklace!!!!!!!
It was taken in San Francisco.
Here's what I'm thinking...This is a powerful piece of jewelry and it may show itself so I can find it. I figure I have a few hundred people on my side in the city that know the necklace or the symbol.
Please keep your eyes open and if you see one, it's mine. Offer to buy the necklace from whoever for whatever it costs and I will reimburse.

Reflections of UNMATA
Tribal Fest was amazing. Cruisin in the UnMetro, getting to spend the weekend with my troupe. I LOVE us!!! Makes me realize how friggin lucky I am. Seriously. Today I have post TribalFest pardum blues, and am thinking a lot of what this troupe means to me.Amy... you are brilliant. I tell you almost every day- but it's not enough. THE MOST creative person I have ever worked with. I question how much I deserve it... You have inspired me more than you will ever know. Pushed me physically, mentally and emotionally. You've made me a better dancer and person. I tear up every time I try and express these feelings. I hope you know the difference you make in my life. Truly amazing. I have to say it again... TRULY AMAZING! I will walk till the end of the world for you my luv!

April Rose... the coolest of the troupe. I love sayin "it's totally you!" My way of sayin I would never be able to pull it off, but Miss April Rose can rock it with style! So much ahead of you. A dance major at UCLA for cryin out loud!!!! I wish I had taken your path. So i live vicariously through you! We have a special bond. Joining UNMATA at the same time, we were thrown into this whirlwind of a life together. It was totally worth it, huh?

12noon Show up to Hot Pot Studio for a delicious vegetarian lunch to cure your munchies, and meet and greet the other participants in your class.
2oclock Clear the dance floor and warm up for Segment 1 of the Undercovers Intensive Choreography.
3oclock You thought you were getting a break? Nope. Get ready for segment 2 of the Intensive.
420oclock Now you get your break, and homemade goodies to munch down on before we continue.
5oclock Clear the floor again and charge on with Segment 3 of the Intensive.
6:30 Free time to do whatever you want with your classmates while UNMATA cooks and serves you a healthy but yummy dinner.
After dinner the Party starts! We’ll entertain you with song and dance performances, a little comedy, some ghost stories, and of course we’ve got a few surprises up our sleevies for your amusement. We’ll have midnight snacks, gossip, Q & A, and more storytelling as we stretch out for the night together on a giant Hot Pot pallet. You can sleep if you want, but beware of raccoons…

8oclock Good Morning! Wake up to coffee and snacks but don’t fill up, you still have 2 more Intensive segments to learn.
9oclock Clear the floor and warm up for Segment 4.
10oclock You’re almost there! Learn Segment 5 to complete the choreography. After completing the dance we’ll briefly review each segment and perform the completed dance together. After leaving UNMATA Undercovers, you will be free to teach and perform the choreography however and wherever you’d like. We will provide a cheatsheet for your reference.
11oclock Graduation! The grrrls will serve you brunch while everyone socializes some more, takes a class portrait, and then bids those dreaded farewells.
UNMATA Undercovers is one of a series of fundraisers geared to send the UNMATA grrrls to Taiwan in March 2008. All proceeds will go towards the trip.
Enrollment is first-come-first-serve and limited to 15 guests.
Total cost for the 24 hours? $150
