I remember precisely the day I thought my "dance career" had ended: December 13, 2005. As if dislocating and fracturing my shoulder wasn't enough......part of my follow-up care has included the necessity of shoulder surgery on May 24. I'm happy to say the recovery appears to be progressing nicely. More physical therapy is in my future which should provide me greater ease with my range of motion.
I've not let this whole ordeal deter me from practicing what I love the most....... this wonderful art of American Tribal Style Belly Dance. Although my interpretation of the dance has been abbreviated....I am still able to "speak the language".
My troupe members have been very supportive and not the least bit embarrased to dance with a "one armed belly dancer"! With the assistance of my very dear sister in dance, Kim, I've been able to continue to teach class.
It is a true privilege for me to practice a time honored art that so deeply touches the soul of both performer and audience!
UPDATE:
After seven months of physical therapy....I'M BACK!!!!
