Seven years ago today, I tattooed my intentions and commitments into my flesh for the first time. In front of family and friends, in a ceremony that we did not yet recognize as a pagan rite, we sealed our vows with words and wine and kisses and ink and blood. Some words of advice the next time you're in New Orleans:
1. Just because it's 10am doesn't mean that you can avoid drunk college boys on Bourbon Street. They're still there, drinking since 10am the day before.
