New Classes starting in Worcester!!!
World Rhythms Dance Studio 221 Chandler St, Worcester
September 8, 15, 22, 29, October 6
Level I Basic Isolations and Drills Saturday’s 1PM – 2PM
In this class you will learn the foundations of Middle Eastern Dance (belly dance), including proper posture, breath, and the basics to create your own dance style. In order to further that aim, we'll be working on choreography to Shuruk on the Ya Bahaia CD. It's a beledi progression (1). Student input into the choreography process is welcome and encouraged. I will make copies of the song; students will be expected to purchase the copy from me at $1 to cover the cost of material. You may, of course purchase the cd (I highly recommend it!) from www.bahaia.com however; the class version is edited for length.
Level II Beyond the Basics: Saturday’s 2PM – 3PM
Putting it together! So, you’ve learned to isolate and can drop your hip? What’s next? Combinations! And how to fit them into the music. While staying true to the improvisational nature of this dance, using combinations can help you to take your dancing to (pardon the pun) the next level. In this level, we will learn a short choreography to a drum solo by Dr. Sammy Farag, I’ll make this available to the class on a single cd, for $1, or you are welcome to purchase the class cd for $12.
Focus will be on increasing control, hip isolations and articulations, arm positioning and core strength.
Rock City Body, 107 Brighton Ave, Allston/Brighton (Boston)
ONGOING Classes starting on September 10
Level I Monday’s 6:30PM – 8PM
While technically a level I (beginner isolations and drills class) we’ll be taking this session beyond the basics to:

Weekly Isolations and Drills, with a cardio twist! In this class, students participate in a heart raising combination based hour long class focusing on increasing cardiovascular endurance while teaching the basics of posture, alignment and Middle Eastern Dance Movements. Jemileh takes you through 3 – 4 dance combinations saluting the 4 corner of the Earth and shows you how to shake what your mama gave you!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All classes begin with a yoga based warm up, poses carefully chosen to warm up the specific areas of the body to meet the specific demands of the chorography.
All classes have “shimmy drills” to further elevate the heart rate and prepare the body for movement, with some basic layering to assist the student in separating physical from mental blocks.
Special care is taken throughout to ensure that all movement is safe, with alternatives provided so that the student may continue to participate, despite individual limitations. If you have a specific concern, please contact the teacher prior to beginning class by email, or privately before or after class. Don’t hesitate during a class to request a modifier if you require one.
Fee Structure: Jemileh’s fee structure is based upon location; please pay careful attention to the studio/location associated with the class that you would like to take.
Rock City Body
Join the collaboration of two forces of nature! Jemileh and AMA! Ama is an extraordinary Pilates instructor, and coincidentally the owner of Rock City Body. Knowing how wonderful for the body Middle Eastern dance is, Ama decided to offer this wonderful amenity to her students looking for another way to strengthen and tone their bods. Jemileh saw that her students would benefit from the additional strength and flexibility training that Pilates and Yoga provide, thus their holy alliance was born!
Students at this locale must purchase a monthly membership at $50 which included unlimited access to all mat Pilates classes, Yoga and Balletone classes! What a steal! All this and belly dance too!
Gold’s Gym, monthly membership or drop in charge of $10 required, paid directly to the Gym.
