Gato, this is not a food emergency

Dear Gato, when I moved here five years ago I was giving the responsibility to take care of you. The first thing I noticed was your poor looking flakey coat and your large size. Your owner said you have been throwing up hairballs too.

I realize you are a full figured gal but you were carrying five pounds too many. The first thing I did was change your food to Imas Senior Hairball formula. I know it does not taste like your Meow Mix but you have to admit the improvement it has made.

Your coat is shiny, you do not shed like you use to, rarely do you cough up a hairball. The best part is you no longer stink up the bathroom.

At your last check up the Vet was very pleased with your progress. You have lost five pounds! He wants to see you lose just a little bit more. This is why your portions of food are controlled. I know you would love to have one of those bowls that keep pouring the food out but I can't take a chance you will stick to your diet.

One more thing, You have to realize that if you can see a tiny spot in your red bowl, this does not mean you are out of food. There is no reason at 5 am you need to come tell me about this. I will be up at 6:15 to making sure you are taken care of.

Thank you.

To the Two Women Who Hog The Treadmill

I have been going to the gym for three months now. I love it. The people are wonderful, the equipment is easy to use and the hours fantasic. I mainly go when the gym is opens and leave an hour later. Lately I have been going in later because I am stopping at the cafe first. I enjoy my time at the cafe. So an hour later when I stroll in, I find you there, hogging the treadmill or the bike.

The rules are, you can spend up to ten minutes on the machine unless the gym is busy then you go on for five. I notice nobody says anything to you when you spend 20 minutes to a half hour when the gym is full. I wondered why that was. I found out quickly the day I got there before you.

I just got on when you walked in You were pissed that I was on YOUR treadmill. I explained to I just got on and I will be off in five minutes;. Well, what do you do, you go tell anyone who will listen how inconvienced your are. I heard you.

The next day I ask the owner what I did to deserve such an attitude from you. She explained the rules to me and I told her I followed them.

So from now on, when you spend more than ten minutes on the treadmill, I am going to say something. I do not know why the other women are afraid of you two but I am not.

In my five years here I have avoided it. I had a couple of near misses but I was still standing. Then today you got me. A bright shiny day, the moment I step off the curb, Boom! on my ass. Well you might of had a good laugh at my expensive but I will tell you that I didn't have a single scratch on me. I went back into the health club and raised hell with the owner. My anger was not directed at her, just for the owner of the complex who cares so little for the safety of the patrons.. Would it kill you to salt the asphalt?

How to get really shiny hair

Over the past several years I noticed that my hair was turning dull. I didn’t know if it was because of all the abuse I put it through or if it was simple aging.

I am now the proud owner of very shiny, healthy hair. Here are my tips to achieving shiny hair. For the record my hair is dry and coarse.

    * Frequent hair cuts. If you have short hair go every four weeks. Longer hair needs to be cut six to eight weeks. This will keep your ends from becoming dry, split and dull.

    * If you have hard water or soft water invest in a showerhead with a filter. My hair and skin is much softer now. Do a web search to find one that is right for you.

    * Find a shampoo for your hair type. I use two shampoos from Bumble and Bumble. Gentle Shampoo and Creme de coca.

    * For a twice a month deep cleansing treatment I use Halo Purity Shampoo. This rids my hair of all the styling build up. This shampoo is the only one I found that doesn’t leave my hair feeling like straw.

    * My thick dry hair needs a deep conditioning. I use Bumble and Bumble Super Rich. I also use Redken All Soft conditioner and their deep conditioner Heavy Cream for a twice a month treatment.

    * If you color your hair, it’s important to use a shampoo and conditioner that does not strip your hair of its color. For this reason I use a color enhancing shampoo and conditioner once or twice a week. Right now I am experimenting with different brands so I cannot not make a recommendation at this time.

    * Your final rinse in the shower should be a blast of cold water, as cold as you can stand it. I find that it helps leave your hair smoother and shiner. This is one tip that doesn’t cost you any money.

    * I have to say I swear by Halo styling products. I use Leave – In Color Sealant and Shine Therapy and Smoothing Gel.

    * A gloss treatment seals in your color. I use Halo’s High Gloss Rinse and to refresh my color I also use a colored gloss Adell (which can be found at a beauty supply or as a service from your salon).

    * Invest in new hairbrush. A natural boar bristle brush leaves your hair so smooth. I honestly cannot see a difference between a $50 brush versus a lower cost brush.

    * Currently I am experimenting with different hairdryers and other hair appliances. I know my hair is shiner when I use my hair drier. Just be sure not to use the dyer too long and keep it several inches from your head.

My latest discover is Fekkai Gloss Cream. This is made with Olive Oil so you need to use very little. I bought a 1.6 oz tube at Bath and Body Works. This is travel size tube. I have to say this really does leave my hair super soft and shiny. I only use it on the dry ends of my hair because it is so rich. I do have to warn you this is expensive stuff. The good news is that you only need a tiny amount so a bottle should last you a while. I may check out the other alternatives out there due to the cost.

I realize that what I have suggested does cost a lot of time and money. These are the things that worked for me. Hopefully you will find my tip useful. Please leave your comments and suggestions.
