The Thrills
Teenager is The Thrills' third album. The five-man group from Dublin had put together two outstanding albums in two years ? So Much For The City in 2003 and Let's Bottle Bohemia in 2004 ? racking up sales well in excess of a million copies. Having toured non-stop for four and a half years, the band established their credentials as one of the key acts of the decade, and got a taste of what it is like to perform at some of the biggest venues in the world, in the company of U2 and Oasis, amongst others.

The Thrills decamped to Vancouver in 2006 for the recording of the new album, with producer Tony Hoffer once again at the helm. Having made the first two albums in L.A., the band made a deliberate decision to avoid the sunny ambience of California and opted instead for the Warehouse studio, located in "the worst neighbourhood in all of Canada." The change of scene imbued the band with a renewed intensity and a fresh perspective on every angle of writing, arranging and recording their music. The resulting album is intimate and reflective, more personal and closer to home than the previous two. Teenager speaks of adolescence, the loss of innocence and of leaving it all behind. It is the sound of a band re-invigorated by the simple love of working and playing together again.

The Thrills have also announced a two week tour of the U.K., including stops at London's Koko, Oxford Academy and Northhampton's Soundhaus. A full list of dates can be found here.

Teenager Track Listing:

1. The Midnight Choir

2. This Year

3. Nothing Changes Around Here

4. Restaurant

5. I Came All This Way

6. Long Forgotten Song

7. I'm So Sorry

8. No More Empty Words

9. Teenager

10. Should've Known Better

11. There's Joy To Be Found...The Boy Who Caught All The Breaks

OUTFORMATION HIT THE ROAD IN SUPPORT

OF THEIR LATEST DISC TRAVELER'S REST

Includes Musical Appearances by

Widespread Panic's JoJo Hermann

And Willie Nelson's Mickey Raphael

Outformation
Atlanta, GA --- With years on the road guitar teching for Michael Houser, founding member of Widespread Panic and one of the most infamous jam guitarists in the history of the genre, Sam Holt was no stranger to the music scene or the road. However in forming his own band Outformation, Holt would have to step out of the shadows both literally and figuratively to prove that he could stand on his own in a genre where fans are hard won, but once captivated are also loyal as the day is long. Following the heels of their critically acclaimed debut album Tennessee Before Daylight, the band just released their anticipated follow up album Traveler's Rest on August 21.

Holt and Outformation have a full fall tour scheduled in support of their sophomore CD with more dates to follow in the winter. Released two years after their debut, Traveler's Rest finds the band in a more mature and experimental state. Holt's hypnotic guitar hooks, bass player and singer-songwriter Grady Upchurch's melodies, Lee Schwartz?s pounding beat and the harmonies of keyboardist CR Gruver and percussionist Jeff "Birddogg" Lane give each track on Traveler's Rest a unique brand of funkadelic chemistry. Several musical guests also make an appearance throughout the album. The title track, "Traveler's Rest" is a collaborative effort with Widespread Panic's JoJo Hermann, while Mickey Raphael from Willie Nelson's band contributes his harmonica playing talents on the song "Winds."

It's no secret that JamBase loves Band Of Horses. The band's 2006 debut, Everything All The Time (read the review here) was one of our favorite albums of the year, and actually secured the top slot from many of our employees. To say we are excited for the band's follow up, Cease to Begin (out October 9 on Sub Pop) would be an understatement.

If you're like us and just can't wait till October, Band Of Horses is offering the first track of their new album, "Is There a Ghost," as an MP3 on their MySpace page.

In other Horses news, the band recently announced that bass player Bill Reynolds is officially a member of the band. Before joining Ben Bridwell, Reynolds was keeping time for Donna the Buffalo.

PETER PRINCE & MOON BOOT LOVER ADDED TO MOE.DOWN LINEUP

Peter Prince
moe. is pleased to announce the addition of Peter Prince & Moon Boot Lover to Sunday's lineup at moe.down. The band will take the place of VietNam in the Beer Tent.

In other moe.down news, for the fourth consecutive year, Radio M-O-E, will be broadcasting around the clock on 107.5 FM great tunes, news, weather, interviews, announcements and special programs and give-aways. Of special highlight this year will be the Mayoral Debates held live and on air from the beer tent Sunday morning [at 11 a.m.]. This year the station is sporting new and greatly improved transmitter facilities along with field remotes for interviews with artists and fans. Look for the Radio M-O-E team wandering the campgrounds looking for listeners.

MOE.DOWN LINEUP CHANGE:

PERRY FARRELL'S SATELLITE PARTY IS IN - RYAN ADAMS IS OUT

Perry Farrell's Satellite Party
(Turin, NY) -- While moe. regrets to announce that Ryan Adams & The Cardinals have canceled their appearance at moe.down for personal reasons, moe. is very proud to announce the addition of Perry Farrell's Satellite Party. Farrell, the former Jane's Addiction and Porno for Pyros frontman and Lollapalooza founder, is a welcomed addition to the moe.down lineup.

"We are thrilled to have Perry Farrell's Satellite Party on board for moe.down," says moe.'s Al Schnier. "Jane's Addiction was a huge influence when moe. first got together. Jane's had a unique way of taking heavy alternative music and making it very psychedelic. And of course, Perry's Lollapalooza was very influential on us. While moe.down is on a different scale & perspective, the vibe is the same - music, camping, vendors, non-profits, a kids tent & parade - all borne out of our experiences as fans of Lollapalooza."

The Eighth Annual moe.down will be held August 31, September 1 and 2 at the Snow Ridge Ski area in Turin, NY. moe.down is an annual party for moe. and its fans. The band will perform a total of six sets throughout the weekend. Early Bird Tickets are on sale NOW through moe.ticketing. Tickets are also available through Ticketmaster and online through Snow Ridge, at the Snow Ridge Box Office, or by phone at 315-348-8456. Buffalo fans can pick up tickets at Terrapin Station,1172 Hertel Ave, Buffalo NY.

Welcome back PJ Harvey! It's been three long years since Uh Huh Her, and while last year's Peel Sessions was a treat, we're always hungry for new PJ. Fortunately our appetites are soon to be sated as her new album White Chalk is coming on September 25 on Island Records.

White Chalk is her eighth studio album and highlights PJ Harvey's incredible ability to consistently create a unique, yet always impactful experience with each new album. The songs are wonderfully mesmerizing, stripped back and performed to hypnotic effect, and her talents as a songwriter, musician, and producer have never been as powerful, or profound.

Track List:

1. The Devil

2. Dear Darkness

3. Grow Grow Grow

4. When Under Ether

5. White Chalk

6. Broken Harp

7. Silence

8. To Talk To You

9. The Piano

10. Before Departure

11. The Mountain

what this is all about

you may ask yourself, what is this all about? why are we all staring at these little electronic bonfires, our computers, reaching out and connecting with our words, looking at these words as substitutes for looking in each others eyes, reading our words like we are reading one another's minds?

i believe this is both a cultural renaissance and the birth of global tribalism. each person, each tribe, is beautiful, unique, electrifying, and we move each other's souls with our pictures and words. we connect across all boundaries to touch one another by reading and looking, and zap** it goes straight to the front of our brains where the highest reasoning takes place, and **bam we feel it in our hearts, in our guts, in our chakras.

this is what it means to be human, to be alive, to be connected. this tribalism is sacred. this electricity is like the nervous system of the Earth, and it electrifies us. the messages follow the neural tracers all over the planet, connecting us, the cells of her Body. and so we are One.

When contemplating the unfolding journey of your life, do you ever stop all of a sudden and say "hey, wait a minute..", and look around at your life, on other levels, from angles other than your ordinary consciousness? Just stop and look within, and let yourself witness all that swirls around your sudden stillness?
