Happy Feet is coming to San Francisco. I am creating an open dance class for girls ages 8 -12 on Saturday mornings. I remember attending dance class as a girl, and hearing the music and wanting to create my own steps. Since the class was rigidly structured, I would go home feeling discouraged. I have created a space where girls will have fun dancing and moving to their own beat, whatever that may be. We will do stretching, basic yoga poses and then start moving to music. I will incorporate different genres of music, including world, Latin jazz, R&B, soul, and house, depending on the week.

In this class, any and all dance steps are RIGHT. Girls will have the chance to move around the room and discover their own dance styles. My goal is to make every child feel encouraged to dance and smile throughout the class. Positive reinforcement works wonders, and no dance experience is necessary.
