Eat Purple CORN? (The Sunrise Festival 2007)

   Wed, June 6, 2007 - 8:39 AM
I can't remember which day Dom, Ella, Hamish and I bumped into the inspirational rasta man singing. I think it was on the Friday. He was more or less busking for free, just wandering round with his guitar singing happy empowering songs to people. His payment seemed to be the smiles on peoples faces. We stopped to listen, danced a little, smiled alot. I said "YES!" alot. What an inspiration. I felt pretty good.

I think it was on Saturday that I awoke in a marqee. It was cool, the Truth 911 camp marquee was army canvas with a carpeted floor. I wandered over to where some of my friends were parked and camping near woodhenge. I went to the henge, ex MI5 agent David Shayler was in there already doing Kabbalah meditation. I sat down and meditated. I found myself chanting Druidic chants. Dave was chanting almost identical Kabbalistic chants. My eyes were shut. He went silent. Eventually I knew he was gone. I chanted some indian mantras. I sat in silence. Eventually leaned back. George was sat behind me, he had been giving me Reiki for at least the last twenty minutes of my meditation. Twenty minutes? I thought I'd only been there for tenty minutes! I had been there for maybe an hour. Time had been doing strange things since I got to the festival.
I wandered back to the central hub of the festy. I can't remember which day Dom, Ella and I bumped into the inspirational old rasta man singing. He was more or less busking for free, just wandering round with his guitar singing happy empowering songs to people. We stopped to listen, danced a little, smiled alot. What an inspiration. I felt pretty good.

I felt like I was on fire that didn't burn. Like each limb weighed a tonne but I was strong enough to lift it. Like the sun shone for me because I knew it shone for everyone. I felt pretty good.
I was walking with Hamish and eventually ambled over to the Tipi area near the Buddhafield cafe and the Bimble Inn. Little Kate walked past and said she was on her way toa Chi gong workshop in one of the tipis. Good idea I thought. Maybe that will help me sort out the vast amount of energy I seem to be walking with right now. It was fun at first. (Chi Gong is an exercise similar to yoga in effect and similar to tai chi in execution.) However when I usually do chi gung it feels like I am moving my arms through water. This time it felt like I was pushing tidal waves of light. It was a bit too much for me so I sat down outside halfway through the workshop.

Maybe it was the lack of sleep, maybe the abundance of green, it might have been alot of things that the skeptics can pin the doubts of the rational mind on. Why not?

Later that day (or maybe the day after, I'm not sure) Dave Shayler led a guided meditation in the Truth 911 tent. It followed a brilliant talk about the power of the mind and kabbalah technique. Brilliant. In fact I will take this opportunity to congratulate the Truth 911 movement at the Sunrise fest for transcending the fear based issues and also talking about some solutions rather than just the problems. Kabbalah was not the only point of interest other than the 911 conspiracy, free energy, monatomic gold and secret societies were all discussed. However, as I say, Shayler's meditation was immensely powerful and as I could hear Pok singing in the Earth Circus tent opposite, Pok was singing about exactly the issues that Dave spoke about in his talk about the problems facing the world and how kabbalah has helped him, Pok's voice was all we could hear other than Dave's explanation of the meditiation and visualisation. (Earth Circus is a Rainbow family and Peace-not-War collaboration.)

Funnily enough that was the second time that day that a meditation in the Truth 911 tent was accompanied by appropriate music in the Earth Circus geodome opposite... but in order to tell that story I have to tell you about Roots...

Some of you may be aware that I value Susanna's judgment, less of you will be aware that I value her intuition even more than I value her judgment. Regardless, she said to me something along the lines of "you have to meet Roots." Okay. She explained in some detail how Roots spent the end of May and beginning of June in Ethiopia for the past 8 or 9 years, it is I who can't remember the number. However this time, for various synchronistic reasons (when I speak of synchronicities it merely means that events conspired to create a highly unlikely situation that can only be explained by divine will or random coincidence. I am not saying which of the two views are right, I know nothing.) Regardless Roots found himself in a field in Yeovil talking about the old ways that the Rastas know of and the similarities in the old ways that Susanna is aware of. Their discussions led her to believe that I should meet him. Sure enough I met him and sure enough he was the the inspirational rasta man singing on the Friday. Synchronistic? Synchroflow.

By Sunday morning Susanna had decided that me and Roots should perform together. When we stepped on the stage sunday evening it was the first time we had performed together, not even a rehearsal. I suggested Roots lead with guitar and vocal and I merely harmonise then follow with some vocals of my own. Roots looked at me and said, "what are you REALLY going to do." I explained the poet and rapper dichotomy as best I could in the 3 minutes before we were going to be on stage! Phoenix came over, completely unaware of our discussion, and said something along the lines of "yeah, whatever you guys want to do, just keep it Earth Circus, sustainable living one love vibe."
"Okay", replied Roots, then he looked me in the eye and said "that is what we will be the vibe, One Love." Simple tings, we were ready.

It was phat.

For a rapper and poet I did more singing than I'd ever done on stage before. I also improvised more than I ever have on stage before, I freestyled nearly every line. But Roots was on fire, what an inspiration! We did two songs, completely off the cuff and they were both called One Love. Neither were the Bob version.

This is the fun part. In the Truth 911 tent opposite Colin had just started to lead a meditation group sending love out to a specific group of people. These people are exceptionally rich and appear to be exceptionally selfish so we figured rather than wish ill on anyone we would send them love, forgiveness and sympathy for their lack of empathy. Just as he was about to send love out to them he heard me singing in the tent opposite "ONE LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE!"

So when Pok sang it was the second time a Bard of the Loyal Arthurian Warband was providing the musical accompaniment to a visualisation meditation. I was certainly not the only person experiencing increased synchronicity at the Sunrise festival, but mine are the only ones I can share.

The purple corn story... Oh goodness knows. I have a short story called Eat Purple Flowers. Different flowers translate different frequencies of light to the body. Light is information, but don't take my word for it, ask a physicist or a computer technician. Where was I?

There is an Hopi prophecy that says "when purple corn reaches the west there will be great change in the world". Whatever, you can get this shiznit off the internet now, it's ridiculously good for you AND a legal psychedelic, get it while you can! So Superfood Mike (formally known as Mike the Merlin, Cerrdor etc) got his wholesale and sorted out his mates.

Strangeness... My synchronicity seems to increase when Body English Craig is around. Hamish allowed me to pour a purple corn tea for our little crew who had travelled from Bath. Incidentally Anorak owns a green Fluorite crystal and Hamish owns a purple fluorite crystal. they are of a similar size. Ella picked up the purple crystal and promptly accidentally stepped on the bag of powdered purple corn. A sizable amount flew out as purple dust flew on to the green grass. She apologised and put the purple crystal back next to the green one. A series of purple/green coincidences ensued culminating in a new understanding in the unification of heart and mind (most spiritual practices say that the heart chakra is pink or green and the third eye is purple, heart and mind.) Some say that as our galaxy enters the photon belt, a wave of energy, we will be able to see new colours. Some say this is impossible and we will never find 'new' colours. Hamish says it's happened before already, fluorescent colours are a relatively new discovery. "Photochromism is a reversible transformation of a chemical species induced in one or both directions by absorption of electromagnetic radiation between two forms, A and B, having different absorption spectra. The phenomenon was discovered in the late 1880s, including work by Markwald, who studied the reversible change of color." Why couldn't it happen again?

Fleassy wrapped wire round a labradorite crystal button and a divine quartz crystal (very similar to an angel quartz, fairy quartz, or cactus quartz - hundreds of smaller points and one main point) with wire spirals and patterns to create a beautiful new pendant for my birthday. Eternal gratitude, it's all good. Jack (who incidentally shares a power animal with me) brought the labradorite button back from India for me. Chris, gave me the divine quartz via Lara on my Birthday, Thursday May 31st, the date the Sunrise festival started, and on Friday morning Fleassy's creativity turned the two crystals into more than the sum of their parts. Coherence and collaboration between three individuals who are yet to meet each other.

There is so much more I could discuss. Big ups to Hamish and Gaynor for actually getting me to the Sunrise Fest (and big-ups to Kat for getting me to Bath from the Small World.). Amazing bands I saw at the Sunrise fest (and as this is a blog and not an advertisement I hasten to add that I also had a fantastic time at the Small World festival the weekend before.) Planetman and the Internationalz became my new favourite band. They would have become my favourite new band anyway even if I hadn't befriended their horn section at last years festivals long before they joined the band! But any band who turn a 2 hour set into a six hour jam (Small World fest) and keep it tight as a ducks butt well past sunrise deserve anybody respect. And not enough people use wah wah pedals. There are many people who deserve ultimate big ups but Amme for the Sams Sauna chats, Fleassy for the crystal combination necklace, and King of the Rainbow 'Pirate' tribe (his name is King, the Rainbow family have no leaders) for being one of the most inspirational people I have ever met. Aho. Jacky boy and Mark Pan were among a small crew doing alot of the real work at the festival. And the bloke who told me to enjoy the land now that it is ours and suggested that he might not be from this planet (he didn't specify if he meant he lives in the hollow Earth, another planet or another dimension and quite frankly I didn't feel like asking him) he seemed nice enough. Roy got me doing The Weave shamanic dance about 4 times in one day (because it is selfless work yet SO much fun!) oneheartweave.blogspot.com Oh, and Dan Winter is the funniest physicist I've met. I just hope he remembers that "those who feel the need to give meaningful and measureable scientific language to profound spiritual experiences" also feel the need to actually have those experiences. The point is that after you've done the science you have to do the work and the work is nothing more complicated than feeling great! Confused? Check out www.heartcoherence.com

That's not a demand, it's a suggestion.

Speaking of which, eat purple corn, we are the one's we've been waiting for after all.

I like the note about purple corn.. looking it up now... You've reminded me of the batch of purple weed that went around a few years ago that was so enlightening I appeared to suspend animation! lol.

Red pill + Blue pill = Purple pill.. Take the purple pill baby!

Thanks for the crystalline inspirations.

Rainbow Family participants make the claim that their group is the "largest non-organization of non-members in the world." In addition to referring to itself as a non-organization, the group's "non-members" also even playfully call the group a "disorganization." There are no official leaders or structure, no official spokespersons, and no formalized membership. Instead, the Rainbow Family form communities through shared "traditions" of love for the Earth, and gatherings to pray for peace. It is maintained by councils that consist of any "non-member" who wishes to be part of the council.

a beautiful purple ramble
oh, man, what a great ramble

as rather a rambling story-teller myself, i took great delight in the ultimate segque back to purple corn ... i've been accused of taking a thousand words to say helllo at times

i must confess, my curiosity got the best of me.. i copied your story into Word and did a word count - almost 2,100 words of which the first 1,200 plus were used to weave your way mystically back to the title

it was a tremendous ramble ... i don't know how you got me there ...parts in isolation seemed to make no sense, but, as a whole, you nailed it ... please pass the purple corn!

If the link works, you may have to type in. This was sent to a msn group I visit. Appropriate for this particular time. I have to admit, I nodded off during part 6, but I skipped to the last chapter.

I had a friend who told stories in circles when he was stoned. But, eventually it would come to an end. And, I also, now feel compelled to look up Purple Corn.

Purple corn, fa real
Amongst all the various colours of corn in the world (white, yellow, red, purple, brown, green and blue), there is a purple corn that has been cultivated in South America for thousands of years. Generally grown in Peru, this purple corn is one of nature’s richest sources of at least six different anthocyanin antioxidants - even more than blueberries. This purple corn has been extensively used as a staple food and a natural colouring dye. Recently, anthocyanins have been studied and reported to have antimutagenic, antimicrobial and anticarcinogenic properties.

There are very few purple plants to be found in nature, and thus if you are to eat a true rainbow diet, this purple corn extract is a helpful and tasty addition.

This product is created by juicing the purple corn then slowly, at low temperatures, evaporating off the liquid in the juice until this pure powder remains.

From www.detoxyourworld.com/acatal...rn.html

Purple corn is a powerful antioxidant which comes from Peru. It is a plant which is greatly revered in Mayan culture; it is said to be the plant of remembrance. It is a very ancient plant, and like eating algae, eating it connects us to our ancient cellular memory. Purple is the colour associated with the third eye, or pineal gland, and we do not get enough purple food in our diet. Taking it in such a pure form as this helps us get the purple ray into our auric field, and makes us feel more whole. There is an ancient Hopi prophecy that says that when purple corn comes to the West, that is a sign that great changes are happening on the planet. You need very little purple corn to feel the effects; just an eighth of a teaspoon is enough to begin with. Add to smoothies, puddings and milk to make beautiful purple drinks and desserts.

Purple corn is fast approaching classification as a functional food—an integral component of the diet that provides energy and essential nutrients. Researchers in the fields of food and nutrition are intensely searching for functional foods in almost every corner of the world and from a diversity of plants. Examples include purple corn (Zea mays L., Poaceae), green tea (Camellia sinensis [L.] Kuntze, Theaceae), soy isoflavones (Glycine max [L.] Merr., Fabaceae), various nuts, plus various other natural substances in the human diet containing antioxidant and other substances with alleged or proven potential disease-preventive properties.

Purple corn (frequently referred to as blue corn) is botanically the same species as regular table corn. Yet by a twist of nature, this corn produces kernels with one of the deepest shades of purple found anywhere in the plant “kingdom.” Research has shown that purple corn contains cell-protecting antioxidants with the ability to inhibit carcinogen-induced tumors in rats. Many plant-derived substances are believed to show these properties, but few have also demonstrated anti-inflammatory capabilities and the potential to help prevent obesity.

The kernels of purple corn (maiz morado in Spanish) have long been used by the people of the Peruvian Andes to color foods and beverages, a practice just beginning to become popularized in the industrialized world. They also make a fermented/alcoholic drink from the kernels which they call chicha morada.1

For the record, now I've had time to 'experiment with Purple corn I'd say it makes me emotional, it helps me appreciate the beauty of everything (yup, just like tripping), it increases synchronicity (can a food do that/ yes), and as the Hopi's called it the plant of 'rememberence' I expect more past-life experiences sooner rather than later too...

Oh, the advice above about a quarter of a teaspoon? well if you're sensitive that's wise. However, if you're a curious you might want to take what Terence Mckenna describes as a heroic dose, although he was referring to acid (which for the record, I still haven't done. Psylo-Ital vibrations at least for now, if not formother.)

oh, and a templar church THE templar church, Rosslyn was built years before Columbus 'discovered' America, the only place where corn grew... but it was covered in sculptures of corn... unfortunately the stone was grey so we have no idea what colour corn the TEMPLAR MASONS were depicting. But we're all welcome to guess.

We are all the One Love we've all been waiting for.
