hurricanes, lava & earthquakes, oh my!

Flossie is heading our way. We're right on the beach... lots of flooding during high tide this afternoon so we finally decided it was time to pack & prepare. It felt a lot like packing for the playa, just a helluva lot faster time frame and this time I have two greyhounds in tow :) Dogsitting... sadly they're not mine. The Subaru is packed to the gills, the house is battened down & we're all lounging on the deck discussing the 5.3 earthquake that rocked us at 7:30 pm. Thank goodness it hit after dark...the whole neighboorhood's been up on ladders all day putting plywood on windows. There would have been a lot of ladder-fall injuries if it had happened before sunset! A new lava fissure opened up last week close(r) to us...but so far usgs is saying the earthquake isn't lava related. Um right.
So we're placing bets on the next scourge to visit us in the next two days...lava? earthquake? hurricane? frogs? maybe locust? Still loving it anyway. Aloha.
