about me
who am I? this is a courageous question. as a writer and as a man I am involved in one central struggle—to discover and accept who I am. I believe all fear has its root in denial. I have, at one time or another, denied everything. every fact of my specific self. my parents, my (Minnesota) origin, my americanness, my Irishness, my appetites, my mortality, my need for love and acceptance, my jealousy, my violence, my anger.
I am not a courageous person by nature. I have simply discovered that, at certain key moments in this life, you must find courage in yourself, in order to move forward and live. it is like a muscle and it must be exercised, first a little, and then more and more. all the really exciting things possible during the course of a lifetime require a little more courage than we currently have. A DEEP BREATH AND A LEAP. —JPS

If you want a tepid, spoonfed dose of conventionalism, I highly recommend NOT attending this particular production. On the other hand, if a turned-on-its-head romp with live jazz and beat poetry is more yr style, the piece is up, so is the furniture, and the reviews are in favor of our little spin of this rather bleak comment on Life, and the need for Love in these demon days.

pushing a stroller wearing sunglasses looking sort of at the sky smiling. And I thought wow. Look at that! She is really enjoying this day! She is just immersed in the joy of her exact moment in space-time. And, I started to feel this exuberance with her. I thought, "YES! you're right! let's BE aLIVE & happy and we will free ourselves from all our troubling limitations that we create and repeat and repeat and remain all these social mores that ... read more

doubled up in wonder of what might make the makers of light Uprise for this debauched humanity here i sit sometime in depth plunder through the corrosive recesses of my memory and imagination and i concede that it's true, patience is a virtue but soap is the yardstick of civilization and cuoffing gardens in elegance is considered a noble recreation endeavour. whatever. however, i wonder was ever a man designed to be cuoiffed just so? it's... read more

there is this rhythm rumbling subterranean patterned tremors under the crust of this soil beneath the dust beyond the oil the beating pulse of a mortal coil shuffled off premature: the wretched of the earth underneath the dirt & gravel now they grumble from below where they rest restlessly and there they test incessantly the conscience of this Cuntery again & again & again beating on the chest of this nation like a pugilist fists clenching guts wrenching ... read more
