In the US and Canada, under one sponsor or another, May is:

National Physical Fitness Sports Month
National Mental Health Month
National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month
National Stroke Awareness Month
National Masturbation Month

And about 40 or so more. I looked all of this up on company time, trying to find a theme for my next client newsletter. Turns out May is National Small Business Month and National Direct Deposit and Direct Payment Month, so I do have something I can use. ... read more

...that burned tonight, but it was damn close. I was playing Scrabble with Iron Jim two blocks away, and had just placed "turtle" across "gooey" when Simran called to say huge flames were coming from somewhere very near my house. Nine o’clock Saturday morning,
I saw him stumbling drunk and stinking,
muttering to his boots.
I began to judge him unkindly
